Aug 9, 2013On both my Nexus 4 and Note 8, I'm having severe wifi issues. It's so slow. On my laptop, speedtest.net shows 35Mbps down, 7Mbps up. On Nexus 4 and Note 8 it's like 0.7Mbps down and 0.1Mbps up. I did the speed tests because I'm trying to download something off the Play Store and it's going 200KB/s!! Not sure what's going on because usually downloads are super fast, especially on wifi.. I can normally download a 2GB file in 10 minutes.
Other issues are "Package file is Invalid" and "Cannot download ... error 497" and "Error retrieving information from server"
I've tried clearing data and cache for Play Store and Google Services. I've tried removing my account and adding it again. I've tried unplugging this, unplugging that, restarting this, restarting that. The ONLY thing that has worked is using mobile data instead of wifi. AND using my phone to tether so my tablet connects to the phone's mobile data and I was able to download updates that way. But right now I'm trying to download a pretty big file on my phone and I'd rather not go over my data limit.

I'm on Android 4.3 Galaxy Note 3 (ATT) and suddenly I started to see one or two recently installed apps turn into grey icons that say SD on them. I removed my SD card and then suddenly I noticed all~ of my recently installed apps turn into grey icons and when I tap on them - it goes to the google play store and says the apps have not been installed. Upon reinserting the card, the apps return.
What gives? I don't want this and it just started happening out of nowhere.

Nov 12, 2013Ive had this micro sd card for at least 4 months. Its 32gb. I was using it on my galaxy s4 and it worked perfect. A week ago i got a galaxy note 3 and used it on my note 3 and worked perfect until yesterday every time i locked the screen, when i unlocked it it would say card was removed and like seconds later it sayd card inserted and installing. Then it would work. And everytime i lockd and unlockd the phone it would happen until it stopped working. I tryd putting the 32gb card on another phone and it didnt work. I tryd a different card on the note 3 and it worked. Only the 32gb stopped working. Ive restartd the phone. Took out the battery. Took out the sd card and put it in again and nothing worked. I tryd puttin the sd card on the computer and it doesnt even give me a signal that i inserted the card. Nothing happens. Oh and i forgot to say it stopped working and then after like 10 mins it came back working until the screen Got locked again and when i unlocked it then that was it, the card was gone and hasnt given any signal since then. Not even on the computer. I didnt download anything to the card or done anything that could of done this. It Just happend.

My first problem is probably a simple one. But how do I change the "About Phone" section? I understand that I can't change the model number, or the Baseband version. But how do I change the Build number so that it shows my ROM name?
Remember do tell me idiot simple, due to the fact that this in my first ROM.

Dec 19, 2013i accidentaly deleted the lib folder in system and i did not make any backup and now my Note 2 is stuck in a boot loop. When i tried to flash stock 4.1.2 it failed in the odin and on the phone it said unsuported version.

Nov 10, 2012I'm loving my new Note 2, and hating my formerly loved Macbook Pro. The latest in a series of fails is this: I have a 64gb sandisk sdhc card that was working in the Note just perfectly, but the macbook could not read it via its card reader (or any other way, really). Like a fool, I tried reformatting it in the mac's disk utility. That failed halfway through, and the card will no longer mount in my Note 2. Thus, I can't format it there, at least in any way I know of.
How I might be able to reformat the card, it would be lovely. I heard about a windows app called bootlce, but I don't have bootcamp set up right now (and my only windows copy is xp, not sure if that would see the card either).

Dec 19, 2013Verizon Galaxy Note 3, up-to-date, stock ROM, not rooted.
I have a 64gb MicroSD card installed, and put a copy of my photography website on it. I find I am unable to figure out a way to open it in Google Chrome.
I used ES File Explorer's FTP function to begin with, to copy files from my website to the card, and this worked beautifully. When I click on the index.html file on the card, the only options offered are HTML Viewer and some text editors. Chrome is not an option (Chrome is the default browser for my phone). I can try "Open as" and choose Chrome, but get the same error message as below.
If I long-press the file, and select Properties, I can copy the (full) Path for the file, but when I paste this into Chrome's URL bar, it won't open:
Access to the file was denied "The file at file:///storage/extSdCard/PhotoWebsite/index.html is not readable. It may have been removed, moved, or file permissions may be preventing access"
I have searched quite a bit, and tried various addresses, including localhost, localhost/mnt, content:, etc., etc., but nothing seems to work.
Ultimately I want to have a Bookmark in Chrome where I can view my website offline when necessary, but this seems to be more complex than would appear necessary.

Apr 23, 2012I just bought a unlocked galaxy note and I had to to get my access point names right so I could use my data form AT&T. I'm ready to rooted my phone and flash a ics firmware (rom) on my samsung galaxy note N-7000. when I flash, will my access point names be ok. I've already went ahead and copy on paper the way they are now so I wont lose them.
P.S. Your access point names are how you get your data from your cell phone provider such as at&t, sprint, boost mobile, etc etc. It has nothing to do with your wi-fi.
General :: Can't Select Destination In Navigation Map
Feb 15, 2013When I launch Navigation, I'm given four methods of choosing a location: "Speak Destination", "Type Destination", "Go home", and "Map". Clicking on "Map" brings me to a map view (cool)... which doesn't actually let me select a destination (WTF). Is this bug present only in Jelly Bean? I can't believe it wouldn't have been caught earlier otherwise.
Oh, launching Maps and long-pressing on a point allows me to select it and set it as a destination for Navigation. Ironic that this functionality is missing from Navigation itself.
Is there a fix for this, or is Maps the only way to select a destination by clicking on a map?

Mar 19, 2014My Sandisc 64GB SD card went kaputt last week, it froze at 33GB, luckily the existing files are all ok and I was able to copy all the files onto my PC, however nothing new can be written to it. I've tried formatting with no success. So I copied the files onto the PC and just got a new this time Samsung 64GB micro SD card. Problem I'm having now is that on several attempts it's failed to copy the files back to my SD card (from PC) I've formatted the card in the Note 3..the music files about 4 GB transferred just fine, the problem seems to be with the Pix and Videos. I'm currently trying to copy the DCIM folder back onto the micro sd and it's saying it'll take 6 hours.
I have tried: copying from PC to micro SD in the phone via USB copying from PC to micro SD in SD card adapter plugged directly into PC

General :: SD Card Suddenly Appears As A File
Jul 3, 2012I just plugged my phone into the computer, pushed a file to the sdcard and then unplugged it. When I opened Root Explorer, it didn't default to my sdcard as usual so I opened the built in file manager and it found the card just fine. I checked the /mnt folder and sure enough the sdcard appears in there. /sdcard has always shown in my root directory and has done so up until now. Now, instead of a /sdcard folder, I see a file in the root directory named sdcard. I fear the location change could cause issues (the least of which is tweaking out my OCD).
I didn't do anything out of the ordinary. USB Debugging is enabled, I left the phone in charge only mode, I ran the command "adb push C:directoryfile /sdcard" and it appeared to be successful, I unplugged it without using the "eject" function on the computer. I've done this many many times before and this has never happened to me. I have a Droid X and am running Wizard0f0's MIUI build. Again, none of my steps vary from what I've done before. The computer is the same, the drivers are the same, the location of adb is the same, etc.

Aug 20, 2013I am wondering if there is a way to change a video's "Date Taken" information on Android.
I am doing a "one second everyday" project with the official app but some of my videos I downloaded from another device so they all show up on the same day.
So to sum up, If I record a video, or download it from a friend's phone, a video on a Friday, is there anyway I can change it's "date taken" to Monday.
