Oct 19, 2010I'm running Cyanogenmod 6. I just noticed that I can't find Google voice or Google maps in the market. I do have the apps installed, but can't see them int he market to get updates. I tried out LFY1.7 and Ultimate Droid 1.0.0, and see the same issue.

Sep 9, 2010I have google map 4.4 on my HTC Evo 4g but i cant find it in the android market searching for maps, google maps, maps google, etc. i realize i have the new version and it shouldnt matter but i dont understand why it wont come up in a search. i have other apps that i have installed that still show up in search.

Jan 13, 2010I updated the firmware on my HTC Hero some time ago from Modaco to Firmware 1.5.I just got an N1, so I restored the Hero to give to my wife, and the next thing I noticed is there was no Google Maps. I went in to the Market and again...I couldn't even pull it in a search even though I pulled it in searches on my N1.
Does anyone know what's up here? Do I need to upgrade my firmware? If so, does anyone have a link to the install?

but i found that some device can't find it in market , it including Acer liquid, sony ericsson x10 mini pro, and even a Sansung Galaxy S.

May 7, 2010I'm trying to create a dynamic ItemizedOverylay (please see the code below) on Google Maps (Android 2.1) on a Nexus One. In my Activity (that extends MapActivity) I'm creating a data thread that is receiving data from the network. A 'handler' is used to communicate the data from the receiving thread to map activity. This data contains the locations (lat, lon) of the markers that I want to overlay on my map. The location of each marker is dynamic (i.e., it changes every time I receive new data from the network.) refreshItems(ArrayList<OverlayItem> newItems) method in invoked inside the handleMessage() of the handler. There are around 11 markers in the ArrayList that is passed to refreshItems

HTC Hero :: GPS Stopped Working With Google Maps - Cannot Find Location
Feb 14, 2010I have a Telus HTC Hero and for a few weeks now my GPS simply stopped working with google-maps. It keeps saying "can't find location". If I use Gps Status app, it shows a compass and shows how fast I'm moving in what ever direction, but for some reason google maps can't seem to lock on. I've tried hard and soft resets, turning triangulation on off, GPS on off.

Nov 15, 2010My phone hasn't been able to locate a GPS signal when using Google Navigation/Maps for about the past five days. I only really noticed this problem last Thursday... which seems about the same time I received the latest update. The timing would indicate the two are related?
The GPS is turned on, and the satellite icon displays on the toolbar. The phone displays "Searching for GPS" at the bottom. I'm running Locale, and it continues to recognize conditions based on location data... so it would seem the GPS is still working for that, at least.

Apr 12, 2014After the update to Google Play Services v4.3 (latest version to date), Maps can't find location anymore without GPS, it remains stuck on "Waiting for location" despite having wifi or data on.When I revert back to Google Play Services v4.2, the issue disappears and Maps behaves again normally.
The problem is that I need the latest version of Google Play Services for streaming videos with my phone to Chromecast (and in any case, Google Play Services will auto update to the latest version).Any same issue with Google Play Services v4.3 ?

One of the examples I'd like to get running won't even compile because the IDE can't find/import the com.google.android.maps library/package, which I found odd since I have everything possible installed that the SDK offers. The book info on the publisher site was not helpful either.
I'm using Eclipse (build 20090920-1017) with the ADT 0.9.5 plugin. SDK is fully updated (all available packages installed, including android 1.1 api 2 rev. 1 through android 2.0.1 api6 rev 1, and google apis 3 rev 3 through 6 rev 1.)

Mar 29, 2010I just got my phone and the battery might still be stabilizing, and of course I'm fiddling with it a lot and I've installed heaps of apps, but I can't quite work out something. I unplugged my phone at midnight and this morning found my phone at 70% charge. I also got a message from my provider that I'd used up all my data. I checked and found that my phone had used up (sent+received) 30MB overnight. Google Maps was the biggest culprit - it received 700K but it sent almost 8MB. This is while the phone was sitting on my bedside table! And of course, as I'm driving to work (not using the phone at all), Google Maps was transmitting my location information back to it's servers so that the traffic flow is updated on their systems.
That's cool, but there doesn't appear to be any way to disable or turn off this in GM's configuration, or even exit the app. It seems that having My Location services enabled gives Google Maps (and I'm sure other apps like weather, gmail, Contacts, etc.) free reign to send and transmit data all the time. I don't want to have to disable My Location services completely; I want finer control over things on a per-app basis. Having Google Maps transmit 8MB overnight might not seem like a lot, but when the phone is idle, it disables wireless (to save battery) and thus all data is going through 2G/3G and I'm incurring data charges.

May 2, 2010So AppBrain sync tells me there's an update for Google Maps available. When I go into the market there are a lot of comments about the update breaking the app, but no real details. Anyone have experience with the latest update? I'm putting off updating till I know more.

Nov 1, 2010I think I've found quite a serious problem with the Google maps for Android update that just came out late last week.I have a Latitude account, but I havent signed it in on this phone as I don't want battery and data being wasted updating my location, plus most of the time the whole location tracker thing is a bit Big Brother for me anyway. But after the update, one of my friends warned me that i had appeared on Latitude, and it turns out that the update signed me in there and set itself to automatically update my location.If this is happening to others, this represents a serious lapse at Google - it should be up to me to switch on the service, it should not automatically sign in - let alone automatically update my location! This phone has never prompted me to switch it on, and that is not acceptable. My location is a private matter and my battery life and data are precious, goddamnit.

I can find them in the market, but when I try to use my phone to download, it can not find them. Note: I used Astro to back up most of my apps on the phone, these couldn't be backed up since they were marked private. And they didn't display in my downloads either after the upgrade. Last week I got and update alert for Google Maps. I tried to install it and got a "Install error" "Package file not signed correctly".
What's strange about it is, I already had the version it wanted me to install. Version 3.1.2. It also doesn't show up in aTrackdog but does show in apps drawer and works fine. The market shows that I don't have it installed. All other Google apps are working and show where they should. This started before the C&D order.
