I purchased a Nexus 7 and found out that the google play contect from movies, books etc. is disappears from the device when you connect to a wifi spot outside the US, not very good for travelers. How can I restore the content once I gent back to US soil? Is there a way to force it? I tried a restart and that did not work.

But I cannot go online with either google, chrome or google +. All that happens is that the search functions but I cannot get any webpage content. No error messages, hangs, anything. Just a blank white page with the website header and even logo.
View 2 Replies View RelatedPrior to upgrading to 4.2.1, I made a NANDROID backup of my Nexus 7 (4.1.2) using mskip's toolkit. The restoration method copies the backup folder to the device (/sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/), then boots it into custom recovery. At first I was using TWRP 2, but I think I need to be using CWM, so I flashed CWM Touch. I actually went through the motions again of copying the backup over to the Nexus 7, but CWM Touch doesn't see the backup folder. It returns two messages when attempting to Restore:
1. Couldn't open directory
2. No files found
The folder containing the NANDROID backup and all parent folders are readable/writable/NOT Hidden, according to ES File Explorer, but I wonder about ownership.I'm rooted with SuperSU 0.99.
how to make CWM Touch, TWRP 2 or some manual method recognize and restore a NANDROID backup? I know I could just flash stock 4.1.2 and start from scratch (I have apps + data backed up), and if it comes to it.

The problem: Broken LCD display... The official Samsung service replaced the LCD display and installed 4.0.1. The result is that I lost all my data (all photos and videos are lost).
I tried every recovery tool available (from R-studio to Photorec)... No data recovered... Is there any chance to recover the previous configuration or may I start to take it for granted that all my photos are forever gone ?
Yesterday I got a sort-of-refurbished Nexus S (I9023) which was apparently not in such a good shape...Had problems flashing the system and userdata partitions (kept saying they were flashed fine but after reboot went back to their previous state).
I followed some tip without actually reading up on it and ended up formatting my bootloader partition.
Now, what I get is just a black screen no response or anything but using a tool called UnBrickable Mod I can get it back to fastboot mode and then boot into a recovery image and have adb access.
All in all, I am currently stuck cuz I want to flash a new bootloader image but what i get when i do that is:

I have read that NAND blocks tend to go bad when continuously being flashed, but 50% bad blocks on the bootloader partition? Seems pretty unlucky... Is it possible to resize the partitions without any JTAGing or writing custom bootloaders?
Before updating my galaxy nexus to 4.2 there was in the keyboard some marks above. After i updated it disappeared. Is there any way to get back the old 4.1 keyboard?

Therefore my phone is constantly using 3G and wastes heaps of battery. how to restrict background data so no apps will be using the mobile data? don't tell me to use task killer because task killers constantly use data as well and if u kill an app, it just comes back.

The goal of the restricted profile is to provide a "kiosk"-esq style profile for kids I interact with at work. Currently, I allow the restricted profile to have access to the camera and gallery for them to take pictures and I would then later post them to instagram for our social media page. I don't like the idea of them having access to the companies instagram, so, obviously, I deny that permission. The question I have is, is it possible to access, view, and edit the photos from the restricted profile from the owner profile, but NOT the other way around. Essentially, I want to create a one way street here, but can't figure out how. The photos seem to be independent per profile and I'm wondering how to change that.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen you have booted into RECOVERY MODE, and you are either trying to make a Nandroid backup or restore, and you get a "Run nandroid-mobile.sh via adb!" error, then try these things: SD Card - it could be too full to write a recovery.Try deleting some things and try again. "Nandroid folder" inside your SD card -If you have renamed some of your backups, then this could also be an issue.Change the names back to what they were and try again.If anyone else has other experiences please feel free to add them here so others will have something to look at when in need.

Love the phone however I regularly see the alert/error "Restricted access changed" in the status bar and the signal drops off both SIMS. If I pull down the status bar and check details it says "Voice call service blocked".
What is interesting is that it is always the Vodafone NZ SIM card even if I swap cards between SIM slots. Other SIM is 2Degrees.
I've searched the internet but there seems very little info on this subject other than to say that some HD9 users have had the same issue and have Spice Mi 350n users.
It could be a IMEI issue but I'm not so sure.
I've turned off my SIM data connection which was linked to my 2Degrees SIM and now both SIMS manifest the same error. If I re-enable data on the 2Degrees SIM only the Vodafone SIM gives the error ***
I accidentally selected gmail to use as the 'default' application when I want to share a story in News & Weather. I meant to select Twidroid (for tweets)... now it's 'stuck' wanting to send to my gmail. Not good. How do I release it from gmail being the default (so I can make twidroid the default)?

It would just reboot me back into bootloader. I tried updating my superboot and recovery image to 1.7 and it's just stuck at the loading screen now. Is there anyway to restore it?

When travelling I don't want my phone to ring or else i'd get charged international roaming rates for the voicemail if one is left, so I need any incoming calls to go immediately straight to my home phone without the call reaching the Captivate while i'm abroad. While i'm overseas I use my phone for text messaging, no voice to save money.
