I am traveling to Europe next month w/ my Incredible. I have Wifi in my hotel. will there be a way to use Skype or some other VOIP to call US cel phone #'s while I am there?

I'll be going to Belgium and Germany next week and wondered if there is any way to use my gps in my Verizon inc while there. Does the gps work even if I am on a different cell network?

Will upchucking "data roaming" and "enable always on mobile data" under mobile networks do that? I called and asked Verizon, but the guy I got was completely clueless.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having some call quality issues but they're mainly on the other end of the line. Those I'm speaking to are picking up some static/background noise. I really don't have any complaints with the call quality on my end. Also, I've noticed it seems to be worse when I'm in the car traveling. If I'm at home and make a call, others tell me the call is clear. Anyone else experience a similar scenario?

The Skype Lite app does not allow calling.
I don't mind either calling using my local minutes OR using my data plan.
Are there any other applications that could assist me with this?
My dad is going overseas and has a BlackBerry Storm with Skype and I have a Droid with Skype. Can I call him overseas for free using skype? I know that if we both used our laptops to talk it would be free, so is there any difference in using skype mobile to skype mobile?

Skype & Amazon Mp3 both give me the notification when trying to uninstall through Titanium: "failed to locate apk file".
What does that mean and how do I get around it to get rid of this crapware? Google searching has been non-productive with this issue so far.

I check my running services every once and awhile and often, Google Talk and Skype are running.
1. I have never run google talk
2. I installed Skype so I would have it when I need it but have restarted several times since then and forced it closed.
Why do these programs keep popping up and running? Are they using up memory/battery? Are they showing people that I am available for chatting/talking?
They are always running, I dont use them !! How do i remove them?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I logoff Skype it deletes a random contact in my contact data. Does not happen every time but it happens enough to be a real pain. I have been monitoring this for about 3 weeks now. This is the only time I lose contacts. I always go to People - Menu - View before I logoff Skype to see how many contacts I have. It is so frustrating to see the number drop after I logoff Skype. Does anyone else have this problem? I feel it has to be a bug in the Skype application. I do see in Manage applications - Skype Mobile - Permissions that the application can read and write contact data. This supports what I am seeing. How do I go about getting this problem resolved?

My question is: what is the most cost efficient way to call with my G1 while outside the US using access to Wifi and without roaming? A typical scenario would be that I am in France or in the UK, and I want to call a local number or a cell phone number in either of these countries but don't want to roam to avoid huge bills. I have access to Wifi most of the time when in France or in the UK.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI just installed the 2.2 update on my Incredible. Don't know if it's me but it seems a tad bit slower than the last OS. I'm also noticing on my Advance Task Killer that I have Skype, Amazon MP3, Slacker, Kik, and other applications open most of the time without even touching the apps. Also pressing KILL all applications does not do the job! I gotta hold the application and press force stop myself.
Also earlier today I noticed I got incoming and missed calls from people in my phonebook, but when checking my call logs, it doesnt show their name it just the number and thats it.
So if anyone else is experiencing this please or has a solution to this please reply back.
This summer I am going to four different countries in Europe for a vacation. I was planning on bringing my Droid to mainly take pics/videos, listen to my music, and send some texts. Maybe make 1 or 2 emergency calls and thats about it. I know we have the NATIONWIDE SELECT FAMILY SHARE SECONDARY 2100 plan, but not sure how that will carry out in Europe. I need to go into Verizon to make sure, but was hoping to get a idea of how it will work out there from here. Do I get charged out the rear for anything I do, data, texts, calls?

I�m planning to go on a trip in Europe where I can buy one of those Prepaid SIM card for GSM and use it with my HTC Magic phone. Since my phone is unlocked it should work. However, I understand the phone might operate on different frequencies on Nord America vs. Europe; the big question is, can the phone support the European frequencies? Is there a way I can change this or change the OS from the Asia pacific region to the Europe one?
Also, I was under the impression that the Desire Z would have the swype function. Was I mistaken as I cannot locate it?
