I just received my Nexus 5 in the mail and I'm trying to figure out how transfer all my pictures from my s4 to my n5 so that they are still able to be set as wallpaper and what not cause to my knowledge once they care stored to Google drive they cannot be set as wallpapers anymore ..is that correct ? Just looking for the easiest way to move my pictures over .

Is there any app that instead of sending the voicemail to the network it records it on to the phone?
Voicemail for me is not included in my monthly minutes, so I can end up with quite a large percentage of my phone bill being voicemail.

I've noticed that despite having only four or five playlists on Google Music (desktop) my phone shows a bunch - mostly ones from albums I've downloaded. They don't show up in the browser version on my desktop so it looks like the only way to get rid of them is to manually delete every single one via the phone app.
Also, I've noticed that when I switch the settings to "on device only" my playlists created on the web page no longer show up, despite me having the majority of the songs on my microSD. I remember I used to be able to switch to "on device only" and the cloud playlist would scale down to only what I had on local storage. Was so....logical! Is there any way I can still do this? My microSD music is pretty much pointless since I don't have access to the playlists when I'm using "on device only".
I have a locally stored webpage (html) under res/raw folder.There is an image that is referenced in this html page (test.gif) which is stored under res/drawables.When I use a webview to display this page, it does not display the image. How can I correctly reference the path to the test.gif image?I tried using a text view with Html.fromHtml() but that does not parse several html tags.

I need to allow the user to create a new email, attaching this saved text file. When I start the intent to send the email, everything shows up in Gmail correctly, but the attachment does not get sent. All of my searches on stack overflow seem to only deal with attaching an image file from the SD card. Below is the code that I used. Please let me know if I have done something incorrectly.

I have a Samsung Fascinate and would like to transfer pictures and videos from my phone to my laptop. I try to use the Allshare app but my phone won't recognize my laptop for anything other than music. This is really weird and confusing.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI am trying to put some of my videos and pics from my pc that were either taken with my old Nokia N95 or bluetoothed to me. I have transferred them across to my Sony Ericsson X10 phone via the data lead and my pc shows that they are there but they are not recognised by the phone and so will not show them. I spoke to Sony Ericsson UK and was told that i have to download a programme that enables the phone to play/see them. When i asked what programme they just said look for something on the internet. Does anybody know of any suitable programme?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a dead Nexus S 4g that won't power up anymore, tech guy at the phone store couldn't figure out why. I got a 2nd working Nexus S 4G afterwards. I want to move the pics from the old phone to the new phone but because the NS4g has NO external SD Card, and the hard drive in the old phone is soldered onto the motherboard, I don't want to remove the solder from the old board and put it onto the new phone, it sounds messy and a lot of work and I'm afraid to "screw" it up even more. I want to move the entire board onto the new phone and try to retreive the pics and then move it back. I don't know if this will work but I want to try it out anyway.
1 of the tiny screws from the new phone was stripped and I can't unscrew it to disassemble it ! I've been searching online and people generally have bigger screws to remove (on bigger hardware) but couldn't find much on tiny screws on a delicate electronics like our smartphones, thus posting here now. How to get the pics out.
Upgraded to ICS on my Nexus S OTA yesterday. It was All right,for a while but after one reboot the gallery app doesn't show any pics or videos from sd card nor any of the music app recognize any music files from sd card.

1) Desktop PC (Outlook 2010) <> USB MyPhoneExplorer <> Phone (ICS SGS2)
This creates contacts on my phone under the "phone" category.
2) Hosted Exchange <> Wireless Activesync <> Phone
This creates contacts on my phone under the "exchange" category.
As the contacts are exactly the same, the contacts are automatically merged and i have 2 separate categories of contacts that display as 1 list which is what i'm looking for.
3) When I resync, all of my exchange contacts are deleted (both on the phone and server) which is not what I want.
Is it possible to have a single set of contacts that I can sync across my desktop PC, phone and exchange server ?
I have a Samsung Galaxy S II LTE and wood like to be able to synchronize my outlook data (calendar mainly but if possible the entire outlook) locally. I work for a company that does not allow to store any of the company business information outside so I can not go via cloud. Any app that allows this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI need to import contacts and groups to 20 brand new phones, to begin with. (Stock, non-rooted Galaxy S4+, 4.2.2.). The phones will stay un-rooted.
-Avoid if possible using Gmail sync.
-Avoid if possible using Kies.
-Preferably use csv and/or vcf with groups (one group for each department).
-Preferably not being forced to connect every phone to a computer by usb cable. Fixable by download from web site on local wireless network.
What I've tried so far:Imported the original CSV:s, sorted them into groups, exported them as CSV to get the correct columns for android phones. So far so good.
Exported above mentioned CSV:s to VCF from a Google Contacts, sent it over to test phone by Pushbullet (for the test only, web site solution imminent), imported it in Contacts. Does not retain groups, shows as "Not assigned". It doesn't seem possible to create local groups? They can only be created with accounts such as gmail. (As I see it, this is my main problem now).
Tried Google Account sync: Problem not solved due to one single Google account, and one Google account on all phones are susceptible to contact deletion by fat fingers and people that are struck by bad luck while thinking. One Google account for each phone would do the trick, but probably not an accepted solution by our IT security "manager", even when using Google Auth.
Tried Kies Sync: Problem not solved due to USB connection, and still no local groups.
Tried Importing CSV file into Windows Contacts (which ****s up the columns, not all are matchable) and exporting as VCF. Problem not solved, no groups.
Actually turned out simpler to do than i initially thought it would be.
Enables "Keep Locally" ( keep_local ) option for adding new contacts instead of forced google account.
Prevents google from deleting all you contacts when you remove your account
Disables google contact sync
The offending package comes with gapps if you got google that way.
GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk you will find it in /system/app/ (need root file explorer to see it though)
You can make this fix in 3 ways, the first may not need root but i cant test as my phone is rooted.In Settings>App find it in the list of all installed apps, click it, click disable. (can do this without root)Use a root file explorer such as "Root Browser", navigate to /system/app/ backup the app .apk to your sdcard for example, then delete it.You can also try clicking the app .apk in "Root Browser" and choose uninstall, but i could get this to work.
Thats it ! , no need to reboot. (to test it worked, just navigate to Settings>Accounts>(your google account) and you will see there is no longer the option to sync contacts)
Anyone else experience this on their Eris, kinda fustrating and embarrasing on the types of random pics the phone decides to use as album cover art? Any tips to stop this?

i transferred my videos, pictures, and music to my computer. the video is in mp4 and music in mp4. none of which will play on my computer unless i open windows movie maker. itunes and windows media player both come up with errors.

In all the guides i looked up, people said to use a usb cable and "mount" the device, then transfer the music. My computer has a microSD card slot built in, so I can put the memory card right in the computer and transfer files to it. Will this work to listen to music?

I've never used an android device before. I thought there would be a simple built-in option for this, but it seems that there's not. Fine, so I have to download an app, which is fine. I've downloaded several, but nothing is working the way I want.
I have a folder on my computer that is shared on the network. Every other computer in the house has no problems finding it, grabbing files from it, or putting new files on it. But I can't find any app that lets me browse the shared folder like any other (windows based) computer can do. I tried looking this up and I'm getting direction for setting up an ftp client. The folder is already shared using a common and well-known protocol. I don't have to put in a username and password to find it. I don't have to select the IP address for my computer. I don't have to select protocols or anything like that. It's a standard windows home network. Why can't I find anything that will just accept that and look for that?
Explore and transfer network files without having to have me set up all this server/ftp crap. I want an app that finds that stuff automatically. Preferably one that also works as a standard file explorer app.

I'm having problems connecting locally over wifi to play games against my friends. Is there a procedure you have to go through to connect? Can htc desire phones connect to each other over wifi or do they have to connect through a router?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo recently I obtained a new 16 GB micro SD card which worked fine with my previous phone and typically worked well with my Galaxy SII as well, but when I went to transfer files from my computer to the card I ran into an issue. After all the files we're transferred it all seemed fine, but shortly afterward I ran into a blank SD card notification and was prompt to format via phone, which managed to format successfully. So then I went through the process again, this time putting nearly everything through a file converter before transferring. Again, everything seemed fine until a short while later when I have a blank card and prompt to format yet again. And like before the formatting seemed to work fine.
And to provide a bit more information that may be relevant, since our computer doesn't seem to play nice with my SD card (no window pops up after inserting and when attempting to read the card via My Computer it simply locks up and becomes unresponsive) when I transferred the files I did so through having my old phone plugged in with the card inserted and managed to get to it that way. With the second attempt I just used my current phone instead with hopes that it would work better that way. Unfortunately the same issue occurred as mentioned above.
So that pretty much covers it. If I had to guess it would seem that a hiccup is occurring with the transfer process that makes the card appear blank shortly afterward. Would be nice to find a way to prevent this from happening again.
I recently bought a new phone, and so I want to transfer the data from my old phone to my current one. The problem is that since the touchscreen on my old phone stopped working, I can't use any apps to auto-package data and apps. Is there a way to transfer the data with this problem?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to transfer some iTunes music files over to my Galaxy S2. I've done this before but can't figure what I did to make it happen again.
I'm pretty sure that last time I did this I just connected the Galaxy to the iMac using a regular USB cable which then showed up on the background of the Mac as a media device. I then just clicked on the music I wanted to transfer in iTunes and dragged that over to the device. Simple as. Now however, when I connect the phone to the Mac it doesn't show up at all. On the phone itself it says "connected as a media device" but as I say, no sign of it on the Mac. I've tried several different cables and USB ports with same result.
