It seems that I have problem to leave Wifi on in order to get skype & SIP calls when the screen shutoff (black screen / idle)
I changed the "wifi sleep policy " to never but still i cant get incoming calls
I tested it several time even tried to ping it but it seems that it is disconnects after the screen shutoff.

I'm loving my Nexus 5, my first Android phone. I use Pattern Lock. I want to disable Pattern Lock when I'm at my home wifi. I did some research and it looks like apps can only turn off Pattern Lock when the phone is rooted. Is this true? I don't want to root my phone and I'd rather not have to enter Pattern Lock a hundred times a day.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been using facebook home on my Nexus One since Friday evening and I actually really like it as a lock screen, but I lament every time I hit the home button and don't go back to the default launcher.
Can modify the facebook home apk so that the lock screen is still facebook home, but so that when swiping up to hit the 'Apps' bobble or hitting the home button, you get taken to the normal launcher. Can it be done?
At home i've noticed that even though I have wifi on, it'll drain 15-20% of my battery over night (8 hours). When I turn the display on it'll show that there's no wifi connection available, but wifi is still enabled. After i turn the display on, it'll quickly connect to my wifi. Is this normal? How do i make it stay connected to my home wifi when the display is off/phone is in standby?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a WiFi network at work and it requires a New password generated from a secure token each time when I try to re-connect. Since Android WiFi setting remembers the password, if it try to re-connect using the saved password (it becomes invalid after disconnected), my secure token become invalid. If I remember to remove the connection each time after I disconnect, I can enter new password when the connection is discovered as a new connection again. The problem is what if I forget. In addition it is inconvenient. Do you know any Android application supports remove a chosen WiFi connection password each time the connection is lost?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a service which polls a server at certain intervals. I use an AlarmManager and a BroadcastReceiver to start the service. My problem is that after a certain duration, even though the WiFi is still enabled, but for some reason, my application can't contact the server. I get an "Unreachable network" error. Note that I've already acquired a partial wake lock as well as a wifilock. Here's my code for the BroadcastReceiver.

So I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 (Sprint) running 4.1.1 on CyanogenMod, However this question pertains to multiple handsets across all of the carriers.If you've ever tried to set up a VPN or other secure WiFi connection (802.1x) you'll notice that android then makes you secure your lock screen either via a PIN or a pattern lock.

Either by ROM, App, or Rooting/Otherwise, is there a way to make the lock button have multiple functions on my Galaxy Nexus? My goal is to be able to use Voice Actions from a locked phone (like in the car, for example).I noticed some posts on editing hardware buttons, but that was neither for the Galaxy Nexus nor for a lock button.
Ideally, 2 quick clicks would pull up Voice Actions from a locked phone.I guess if I could permanently have Voice Actions in the notifications section, I could drag down from a locked phone and accomplish the same thing. I use slide to unlock, so dragging down on notifications bar is still available.
I have not rooted yet but would do so just for this functionality (I'm now a corporate tool so I try to hack as little as possible these days)...
I am trying to get Tasker to turn Airplane mode when the wifi is disconnected IF theres no cell signal and then turn airplane mode off again agter 2 seconds. At the momnt this is what I got:
Airplane mode ON using Secure Settings.
Not Wifi Connected >[code]....
When I press the PLAY button on the task it does turns on Airplane mode but when I test it by turning off my wifi it shows that the Task is active but Airplane mode is not turned on.
I recently got the M8 upgrading from the Galaxy Nexus. I am a design student, and I HATE, I mean HATE the current clock set up with that damn weather icon and how it all looks uneven. Are there any widgets/apps or anything which I can change this?

Is there anyway I can change my current clock or SOMETHING. I do know that I can add a new widget page and have a new clock, but I can't make this my default lockscreen. Sliding across on the lockscreen seems pointless to me - i want this visible when i double tap my phone.

For some reason my wifi at home won't connect to my phone now. It did when I first got the phone, but now if I turn on wifi and try to connect to it the phone doesn't even try and it just stays at a "disconnected" state. Any ideas why this is? I will be trying it on a different wifi connection later, but nothing has changed for my wifi connection so I am not sure why it just randomly stopped working.

Also, either way, when I unlock the screen and go into wifi settings, I see that the phone is trying to make a wifi connection, but it never succeeds, even though it's my home network and I'm in the same room as the router. It doesn't do that if i plug,it,in a computer usb, it doesn't,do that and charges normally. Is that a wide spread issue.

I am plan B and AVG security installed, both don't always work, I have pattern lock on the phone but even in pattern lock mode when i press and hold power button the phone gives me option to shutdown.
If someone steals my phone they will be able to shut it off without unlocking it since holding down power button still works. So is there a way to lock the power button from shutting off phone when the phone is in pattern unlock mode?

What I mean is that I need a phone lock for security reasons - however it is a pain to use it every time I turn the screen on. Is there a way to have it work only when you turn the phone on? Right now if yu don't have a phone/screen lock security set if someone steals your phone they take out the sim card and use the phone normally ... if you do have it, then you must use the password every time you want to use the phone (I hate it). I know the best thing is to have a secured access but I was just wandering if it was possible to do seomething different?

Ok... So, is there anyway to force rotation-lock to turn off on a Nexus 7 with Android 4.2.2?
Reason: I cracked my screen from the bottom left of the screen to just shy of the top right corner. The lower section, below the crack, is not responsive to touch... and the dots I need (I use the pattern pass) are on this side because I can't flip the tablet.
How This Happened: I turned on rotation lock with the tablet upside down to keep it there... But then my Nexus 7 decided to restart randomly and keep rotation-lock on but coming back in the default orientation, aka the wrong way that I need it to be.
LOCK screen aprears at the main screen, after boot the emulator boot up. I want to disable the locking at main screen, So that while next time i boot up my emulator not LOCK screen apears. Can any body suggest me best solution for this?
