General :: Installed Evervolv (AROMA Setup) ICS 4.0.4 And Now N1 Doesn't Finish Booting Up
Jun 25, 2012
I had a stock android 2.3.6 and here are the steps I tried:
- Unlocked my N1 (through fastboot)
- flashed the RA recovery image (through fastboot)
- Wiped the device.
- Copied the Evervolv-Perdo-2.2.0a5-passion-aroma.zip to the SD card
- Booted in recovery mode and installed Evervolv.
After reboot, the blue X animation just sits there rolling and rolling. It's been 25 minutes since I rebooted and the main screen doesn't show up.

I have a 16Gb Nook Tablet that I wiped a long time ago and put CM7 on it. It worked great. Then I put CM9 on it, and it worked great. Then I tried to put CM10 on it. So far, no matter what build I try for CM10.0 or CM10.1, it has the exact same result: After I do the final reboot, it starts to boot up, but gives up and just shuts down (screen goes black, and you have to turn on the device again). Sometimes the CM10 logo starts spinning before it turns off, sometimes it turns off before the spinning CM10 boot logo appears.
I've tried many different builds (only for the Nook Tablet), but they all behave the same (some from the official cyanogenmod web site, some from other xda-developer forum posts for the Nook Tablet).

I wrote simple aroma installer for 4 apps and one mod. Everything runs well, but after I reboot my device, there are no changes done!
This is my aroma config: [URL]
This is my updater scripts: [URL]
As you can see, it's very simple
but I still can't find what is wrong that it doesn't apply selected mods :/

I had the 1.5 android emulator starting from Eclipse perfectly nicely.... until yesterday when it suddenly won't finish booting. I haven't installed anything new (Running it on Windows Vista - i know, uck, but I'm waiting for Win 7 to hurry up), haven't even changed the java code I am trying to run. The emulator starts up, get's to the point where it shows "Android" with the nice lighting effect that goes from left to right over it and then just stays in that state. Last night I tested it by starting it up, going out to the living room, watching two hour long episodes of the first series of Doctor Who, and then coming back in (Essentially giving it 1.5 hours to do it's stuff) - it was still stuck in that state. Any ideas what I did wrong?

In main Activity, I called start Activity For Result(intentB, 100) to start a new activity B, then in B, I called startActivity(intentC) to start another activity C. Lastly I wanted to call finish Activity(100) in C to close activity B, but seemed it was not successfully destroyed(I can use BACK key to see it's still there.)

I currently have an Activity that when it gets displayed a Notification will also get displayed in the Notification bar.
This is so that when the User presses home and the Activity gets pushed to the background they can get back to the Activity via the Notification.
The problem arises when a User presses the back button, my Activity gets destroyed but the Notification remains as I want the user to be able to press back but still be able to get to the Activity via the Notification. But when a USER tries this I get Null Pointers as its trying to start a new activity rather than bringing back the old one.
So essentially I want the Back button to act the exact same as the Home button and here is how I have tried so far:
CODE:.........
However the above code still seems to allow my Activity to be destroyed, How can I stop my Activity from being destroyed when the back button is pressed?

I use latest Nova launcher (Premium) and CM11 (nightly). But the same happened with CM10 stable and nightlies.
When I install new app - shortcut doesn't appear on my homescreen. I remember long time ago (I think that was in ICS stock launcher) - shortcuts would appear. But not anymore.
Automatically add widgets checkbox is checked in the Play Store Settings.
I even reinstalled fully Nova. No success.

I made an Aroma flashable zip that contains all of the popular superuser apps. The problem is, it gets to the install phase and nothing happens. It just says that its installing for a few seconds and then, without any output, it finishes.
aroma-config:
Code:
ini_set("force_colorspace","rgba");
ini_set("rom_name","Superuser");
ini_set("rom_version","");
ini_set("rom_author","");
ini_set("rom_device","");
[Code] ......

With this sample code, the activity is told to finish, but continues execution afterwards and displays the message. I'm trying to understand why this happens. The only fix I can think of is to place 'return' after finish.
public void someMethod() {
if( valueIsTrue) {
startActivity(new Intent(this, NewActivity.class));
CurrentActitivy.this.finish();
// return; // if uncommented, Toast doesn't show
}
Toast.maketext(this, "Some message", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();}

Does anyone know why it doesn't detect or know about it?
Also, what would happen if I selected to option to install clockwork, even though I already have the latest version flased?

This questions somehow relates to the question when I was looking to get the extras back in startActivityForResult but now I face another challenge.
I have subscribed to receive ProximityAlerts and I have explicitly constructed the Intent to include some Extras. But when I got the service the extras are not there.
After the answers here is the working code:
CODE:..........................
The documentation says param PendingIntent to be sent for each location update.

My phone is HTC EVO 3D, and it's bricking after the ICS update from provider. It hangs on the HTC logo. I read numerous post about flashing it with update or rom, but it's now S-ON and when I try to flash from SD card in recovery it gives me :
Invalid Operation
Rebooting Reasonem-00
As far as I know I have to get it to S-OFF before I can use recovery to flash it, but I tried revolutionary and seems like it require the phone in a working state to function. Currently when I run revolutionary with usb connected on HBOOT-1.49.0008 menu revolutionary won't connect. I don't have CWM either and I don't know how to get it onto the phone without Market Place and S-ON.
Is there anyway to get it to S-OFF so I can move forward to fix my phone with any working rom? Fastboot is connecting no problem (at HBOOT menu) but I don't know if it allows me to flash or turn it to S-OFF.
