In Android when I am adding a view object like ImageView to FrameLayout view and then immediately trying to call layout() method to repositioned the added view object it is not working. But when I call the layout method alone after some new event e.g. touch event then layout() seems to work. This also happens when bringToFront() and layout() is used together, layout() does not seems to work together with other method. Is there any reason why is this like this? Also instead of adding view object in the middle of the screen can it be ADDED at some specific location in FrameLayout?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I include <style> elements from /res/values/styles.xml the Layout designer/preview within Eclipse doesn't update with these styles, but shows as it would be without any styles.Can anyone confirm this issue? If so, Is there a way I can fix this myself easily? If not, where's the appropriate place to sumbit a bug report?

I have 2 other email accounts that no matter what I do I can not get them to work. One is my works email which is handled by a company called network solutions. I can get the incoming server setup fine but I can not get the outgoing to work. The other is my school email which is some sort of msn email account variation (username@email.itt-tech.edu which i log into through msn.com). I cant get anything to work for this accuont.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have so far found two bugs in Galaxo 1.6.3:
a) Speaker doesn't work in call (very weak). works well in ringtones etc.
b) Scrolling contacts by letter doesn't work.
Other than that this is a leap forward, especially with the overclock options!
Both bugs, as well as others, fixed in 1.6.3.1 update!

So with the above android layout, I am not able to make the editbox and button to be to the full width of the container. About 50 px from the left and the right are not filled.
Is it possible to get the width of a linear/relative layout, if the layout_width is set to fill_parent in the layout xml? For example, I have the following layout xml. Is it possible to find the width of the cameraSourceScreen?

android:layout_alignParentLeft="true"

i' making a remote-app, so i need a varying number of buttons, grouped by tableviews and tablerows.i can create the fix ones (that must alwasy be available) at designtime via xml, making use of the layouts making all buttons fit on every resolution.but there are buttons i have to create at runtime.to make them behave the same way as the fixed ones, i need to assign the layout width, -height and -weight values.i was searching the whole documentation, but there it's alwas done in xml, no word about runtime / matching routines.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a linear layout (oriented horizontally) that contains 3 buttons. I want the 3 buttons to have a fixed width and be evenly distributed across the width of the linear layout.I can manage this by setting the gravity of the linear layout to center and then adjusting the padding of the buttons, but this works for a fixed width and won't work for changing devices or orientations.
<Linear Layout android:id="@+id/LinearLayout01"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:orientation="horizontal"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:gravity="center">

While developing for Android, I am unable to open more than one main.xml file in an Eclipse editor at a time.Each time I open one, it simply replaces the editor (tab) of the first main.xml with the new one, instead of opening a new tab - even if the contents of the existing tab were unsaved.Even stranger, I can open multiple main.xml files from different projects with no problems.This only happens when they're within the same project.
View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery time that I want to do a Layout, I'm getting a black layout preview then I can drop stuff on it, that's ok, but how can I change the size of that blank surface (xml). The question came because I set a folder layout-large and then when I add a new layout.xml to that folder it came with the same size, as a layout-normal.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'd also like a way to change the default, if possible.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a layout xml file with a linear layout. One of the children is again a ViewGroup Relative layout. In my java code i want to change the width of this child Viewgroup for my requirements. I tried this
ViewGroup childViewGroup = (LinearLayout)findViewById(childViewGroup);
LayoutParams l = childViewGroup.getLayoutParams();
l.width = 360;
childViewGroup .setLayoutParams(l);
I couldn't do this because findViewById(childViewGroup) doesn't fetch ViewGroups it does only for Views. Note: I cant define a whole new layout.xml for this minor requirement since it is huge layout file and might cause performance overhead. I wanted to just change the width of the child view group in my java activity code.
I have a TextView. I want it to ellipsize if longer than its available width. This does not work unless the input string has no spaces... can anyone provide an example of this working? I've tried different combinations of:
singleLine="true"
maxLines="1"
scrollHorizontally="false"
none of these have any effect. Again, if I supply a string that has no spaces in it, then the ellipsis appears correctly. What am I missing? I've tried this on 1.5, 1.6, 2.0, all same problem.
I am using eclipse 3.5 with the ADT plugin.when I view layout xml files, i get two tabs in the view the source code view and a graphical view.the graphical view almost never works for any of my layouts.it usually shows "NullPointerException: null" at the top and nothing else. when it does work, it often does not match what i get in the simulator or device.it seems like this thing simply is not ready for prime time; although the idea is very cool.has anyone else had much success with it?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSince Android supports styles and it's good practice to use them (similar to CSS), I made a new style and applied it to 3 buttons.
The Layout builder in Eclipse did not register the changes and either broke (showed nothing) or didn't apply styles at all.
After running the app in the emulator, styles are correctly applied.
So is there something I'm missing or the Android plugin doesn't support styles?
Is there a way to set the background image as static so it doesn't span across each desktop?
I'm using Open Home if it makes a difference..
On a Nexus One (for example), the camera application is able to capture H.264 video at 720x480 (the "High" quality setting). However, when using the MediaRecorder API, it always seems to capture at a fixed frame size of 320x240.
I would expect the setVideoSize() method to control the frame size (as in the prepare fragment below), but it appears to have no effect (using Froyo 2.2 Android SDK).code...
Discussions on the android developers list seem to indicate this is a long standing issue. Can anyone advise how the frame size can be controlled, or if it is possible at all with the current API?
I'm sure there is a thread on this, but I didn't see one, sorry if there is. The issue I'm having is all the dates carrying over each year. For example, if I put someones bday on july 14th and look at that same day the next year, it shows their bday on the 13th. I tried this on my Aria and on my friends Incredible and Evo. So what gives, is there a fix for this. I've tried downloading several calender apps, but they always just have a different layout and different functions, but in the end they just end up doing the exact same thing.
