I am getting the Archos 7 Home Tablet for my birthday (ARCHOS) and it doesn't have the official Google Marketplace installed. I have read several places that it is possible to download the .apk file, but I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone have info about that?

I created a signed apk. I uploaded it to marketplace as usual. I also installed a copy of it on a device directly, perhaps as an email attachment.If I upload an updated version of the app to the marketplace, will the device be notified that a new version of the app exists on marketplace? Or does that update-alert system depend on the app being originally installed through marketplace?

View 36 Replies View RelatedI am creating an application that checks the installation of a package and exits after launching the market-place with its id.
When I try to launch market place with id of an application say com.mybrowser.android by throwing an intent android.intent.action.VIEW with url: market://details?id=com.mybrowser.android, the market place application does launches but crashes after launch.
The application com.mybrowser.android doesn't exist on the market- place.
MyApplication is my application.

However, when I try to launch the market place for a package that exists in the market place say com.opera.mini.android, everything works. Here is the log of this case:

The Facebook App from the marketplace is newer (it has an message box without needing a browser, etc.).... and when you are about to download it, it mentiones it will replace the Facebook for HTC (not the Facebook widget...the whole thing).....

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had a problem with the android marketplace on my HTC tattoo since i got it at christmas where i can't download any apps and the progress just stops at 'starting download' -- i have tried factory resets, new google accounts, wifi and network etc. etc. but it still doesn't work. i have been looking at google help and some people have solved the problem by simply signing into the google talk application that comes standard on most android phones. my tattoo doesn't have google talk though and i have no way of getting it. So can anyone provide me with a link to download the file off a file-sharing website such as rapidshare?
View 4 Replies View RelatedLooks like there is a newer version of Google Maps in the market than that which is on the Droid. On the Droid = 3.2.0 in market place is 3.2.1. I installed it and the navigation and all still seems to be there. Not sure what was in the updates but it did upgrade the version number.

All were listed in my download list on the market as installed or if i uninstalled a paid app it would still say purchased for downloading again at a later time. After using the wipe but keep apps method on droidmod 1.0, i got back about 90 percent of my apps. I lost a few paid and free ones, no problem right? just re-download, no biggie because i already purchased them. Well al my paid apps have prices next to them, i cannot update any paid apps without having to purchase them again. I checked google checkout and all the receipts are still there. Also all the free apps work on my phone but none say installed in market, they say free so in order to update them i must re-download and guess that they have a new release out. Any ideas, did i get semi disconnected from the cloud by doing the wipe but keep apps method?As it stands i will loose 40 bucks or so in apps if i want to update any of them which is no big deal but its just the thought.

Given that HTC Magic (based on cupcake, I heard) is rolling out real soon now, wouldn't it be nice to give the app developers a chance to test if their app is compatible with cupcake?Sure, Android API is supposed to be backwards compatible. However, there are quite a few bugs in the G1 that I had to work around with ugly hacks. Now I start to worry if those hacks would break on cupcake.

Does anyone know why it doesn't detect or know about it?

Hi everyone, I recently flashed sapphire 1.0.0, frozen yogurt, bugless beast 0.4 with clockwork mod recovery V 2.0.1.3, and had success with all roms above, except for the fact that in sapphire, i'm greeted by the droid setup tutorial, which is completely non-responsive, (I remove the setupwizard.apk from the Gapps .zip which causes it to set up without a hitch), and in all of the mentioned roms, when I attempt to use gmail, gtalk, or the market they all crash on startup. In the market I see a hint of the EULA before im booted back to the home screen. I'm coming from 2.2 build number "voles-userdebug 2.2 FRFxx 49593 test-keys".

I can look at the source of the other apps to see what's available, but the GMail app is closed source so I'm not able to go that route. When I install new app - shortcut doesn't appear on my homescreen. I remember long time ago (I think that was in ICS stock launcher) - shortcuts would appear. But not anymore.
Automatically add widgets checkbox is checked in the Play Store Settings.
I even reinstalled fully Nova. No success.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI had a stock android 2.3.6 and here are the steps I tried:
- Unlocked my N1 (through fastboot)
- flashed the RA recovery image (through fastboot)
- Wiped the device.
- Copied the Evervolv-Perdo-2.2.0a5-passion-aroma.zip to the SD card
- Booted in recovery mode and installed Evervolv.
After reboot, the blue X animation just sits there rolling and rolling. It's been 25 minutes since I rebooted and the main screen doesn't show up.
Does anybody happen to have the official Google Gallery .apk running on the X? I really miss having my Picasa photos available on the phone like I did with the original Droid. I could have sworn that I had the file somewhere, but I can't find it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using the latest version of Google Maps on JB 4.2.2 [Nexus 4]..I noticed that I cannot edit the names of my locations in "My Places" in the phone app. So I used Google Bookmarks (google.com/bookmarks) from my PC to edit/rename My Places. However, the names do not sync or carry through to the Google Maps app on the phone. The names in the app are still the generic names, coordinates or street names.
Is there any way to change the names of My Places and get them to sync with the phone app? Really baffling!
Just installed the new Google Search. But i dont have any options to turn on cards, like TV shows, local transport etc. Do these appear over time? I only have 4 things in "Everything else" but i have seen people have like 20+
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use the Google Data API for an installed application on Android 2.1. I don't want the user to have to enter their credentials if he already has an account configured on the device. Thus, I'm using the AccountManager with Account type "com.google".
But where to go from there? There are no samples from Google on how to do Google authentication (authTokenType etc.). There's a project trying to do it (http://code.google.com/p/google-authenticator-for-android) in a general way but without any success, yet.
This is really keeping back applications like Google Reader clients which have to ask the user for their Google credentials (which hopefully nobody gives them).

I just wanted to know wether it is posssible to pass records to the google maps app bis intents or something similar.I wrote an app for displaying route, coords and so on by myself, but wouldn't it be more elegant to ask google maps itself for displaying this?I don't know if this is possible, but maybe, one of you can answer this question.IF THIS IS POSSIBLE, is it also possible to ask google maps to calculate the route by my CURRENT POSITION?It would be great if one of you can show me a skeleton/dummy code. I have no idea how the intents would have to look like.

So in addition posting questions here, go to Google's issues site and let them know directly! All you need to do is click the link and click the little white star icon. Issues with more stars will theoretically get more attention, so let's let Google know what we want.

Last week I got and update alert for Google Maps. I tried to install it and got a "Install error" "Package file not signed correctly".
What's strange about it is, I already had the version it wanted me to install. Version 3.1.2. It also doesn't show up in aTrackdog but does show in apps drawer and works fine. The market shows that I don't have it installed. All other Google apps are working and show where they should. This started before the C&D order.
The import com.google.android.maps.MapActivity cannot be resolved to a type.
