When I do factory reset (which means the same as 'wipe', right?) it does resetting current installed ROM to its original state, right?
So, let's say I am doing factory reset the first time (so currently my phone has store ROM installed) so factory reset will revert all the changes in the installed ROM (such as settings, installed apps, all the data) to its original state - which the phone had since it got ROM installed.
But If I got root (which means I replaced secured kernel with unsecured one) and I installed another customized ROM and for some reason I want to do factory reset again - what's gonna happen?
Will factory reset revert original store ROM back or it will revert manually installed ROM (customized ROM) to its after installation?
And as far as I understood factory reset does nothing with kernel? It only affects ROM? So in the second case , when I use non-store ROM and I am doing factory reset - nothing will happen with my unsecured kernel?
I have no internet connection on my Xperia X10 mini.If I try to use the browser I just get page unavailable, I have gone into basic settings and tried the settings download but that just tells me to come to the website to download them, where are they?.I then checked in the settings and it says the mobile network state is disconnected.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI reset my phone (Sony Xperia P) to factory settings about an hour or three ago to clear up some of the junk that I'd accumulated, after restoring my contacts, messages , apps that I actually wanted etc; I'd noticed that despite still being on 4.1.2, there were a couple of things that were different about the phone.
The first one, is the menu that comes up when I drag from the left side of the screen, something which seems to bug out quite a lot, and generally seems a bit 'laggy' when ever I do use it, and sometimes after clicking an icon, nothing happens. The second, and probably more important thing, is the change of the 'swipe' lock screen I've noticed. Beforehand, when I pushed the unlock button, it would come up with the image I'd selected, and I could then swipe vertically to unlock it (with the picture opening like blinds from where I'd dragged). Now, upon unlocking, the default screen is my wallpaper with a circle encompassing a lock, which can be dragged left for a camera, right to unlock, or upwards to several icons to get to some apps (Chrome, Phone, the default e-mail, a magnifying glass (which leads to a 'This web page is not available' webpage on chrome, and Amazon MP3 - the latter of which I think is a bit random).
I can then swipe sideways to 'add widget' pages, or the other way to a 'social network in full' screen. I added a Skysports football widget, which appears in the middle of the screen, in front of a different colour screen each time (which can look a bit taccy), but can't seem to find how to remove it.
The 'social' page, although looking very aesthetically pleasing, doesn't seem to work. I'm logged into both Facebook and Twitter (however, not Instagram, as I don't use it), but it still says 'connect with' Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. When I try to log into Facebook, it comes up with a log in screen, which never actually logs in when I enter my details, and I haven't tried the Twitter/Instagram icons.
I imagine there are a few other things that I haven't noticed yet, as I haven't really messed about with it that much.
My questions are:
Can I remove the side-menu? Or perhaps make it less buggy? (the Facebook page takes me to a 'not available' page, which is quite annoying).
Can I change the lock screen back to the 'Swipe' I had before the reset?If not;
How do I remove widgets once added to the lock screen?
How do I get the social media page to work? That seems something that could be quite useful.

I Rooted and installed Busybox Installer. Well After that my Tablet Rested it self and now it going to factory Defaults each time I turn it on.
-Whenever the Tab restarts it just looses all settings and starts like it is started for the first time, with all those first time tips and default settings. Even all apps are gone.
-All Apps suddenly vanished (Were installed in internal memmory, no sdcard used)
-If we try to install the app again using google Play, then google play hangs, does not install the app.
- If we go into settings->storage, the first internal storage shows 0.00Bytes
I tried to do: Factory Reset the device, Hard Reset the device, Restart insanely several times
I do have ADD installed but I don't know how to switch busybox over from /system/xbin and find busybox. Move it to /system/bin I can't Install Apps
Should be a useful place to send rooters who ask, "How can I unroot?"

My galaxy s4 has recently been very slow so I thought that I would try a factory data reset to clear some things up. However, my phone is rooted. Now when I looked around on some other forums it seemed as though that I didn't have to worry about factory resetting the phone while it was rooted. But when I went ahead and did so it no longer will boot. Its stuck in the boot loop/download mode/ whatever you may call it. I can't seem to flash a recovery file through Odin either. My phone is gone now.

After rooting my cellphone, I had WhatsApp install and uninstalled couple of times, which led to some corruption as well. Thought of clearing the space by "Factory Reset" option with an intention of retrieving the built in apps.But after I did this, runs a process of resetting and when it restart it stuck at the main screen where HTC comes out on the display. I have been waiting and reading for months with regard to getting a new phone. I currently have an old Nokia N96 so any modern phone will be an upgrade, however I need to mae sure that the new phone has at least the same quality camer and video recorder as my N96. I had almost set my self on the Iphone 4 but luckily I waited an what a good choice that was with all the problems the iphone 4 is having. So yet again I started looking and have always liked the x10 because of its build and camera but hated it because of it having old 1.6 android and no hd recording or flash. Then suddenly I read the somone has managed to root the x10 and so im guessing that it wont be long until 2.2 with flash and hd recording and multitouch is released ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently rooted my x10. Everything is going awesome so far except one thing. I have no idea where my voice search went. I re-flashed it with an unbranded rom (R2BA026) and voice search is missing! I don't know where to go from here.

Found a link on there to the settings needed to make it work on the X10 and here it is: Set LAN to athwlan0 Thats it! So if your rooted you can turn your X10 into a wifi hotspot and run what you want on it! 2 laptops and a PS3/Xbox? no problems. Let your poor friend who needs to use wifi to go online with their phone? No problem.
Apparently you can even let an ipad go online via the app and it is bloody fast I use a dongle for internet and although its on the same network as my phone the phone is lightening quick at sending data! Once connected it will show up as your only connected to a local network but it runs via an adhoc network so will only show a local connection. There are a few other minor connection details but you should find the answer with playing with it or just post on here and I will try to help.
hey guys hopefully you can help me out with this.i have an unbranded x10 that i am trying to update to 2.1.when i go to software updates on the phone it's telling me that it's available downloads it and starts to do the update but finishes early and says "unable to finish update" any ideas why it would just stop in the middle and not finish?

But now i cant install anything from the app store because it force closes every time i try, it froze up on me earlier and the only way i could get it back was to pull the battery and since then none of the google app suite work, i tried to hard reset the phone back to factory by booting holding the app+back+power keys but that only booted into safe mode, i cant find any restore factory settings option anywhere.
