Jan 23, 2013In Gingerbread, I could click menu button at my home screen and choose "Edit" and all my desktop screen will minimize and I can add screen or remove screen (including all widgets and shortcuts) just by dragging the screen to the bottom where it says Remove.
I could not find any way to do this in ICS?

Mar 9, 2010I have a screen where you can enable/disable modules for my Android application.
For this I use a CheckboxPreference screen. This is all good, but the summary field gets cut off if longer descriptions are added than 2 lines.
Suppose I have 4-5 lines of description available for each module, I would like to display this in a helper window.
I tried to bind a click event to the CheckboxPreference, but that fires for the whole line, so not only when the checkbox is clicked, and more, wherever you click on the line the checkbox is toggled.
So now I am wondering if this can be fixed. So if the user needs more info, just taps the text and the helper opens up, and if want to toggle the settings it taps the checkbox.

Removing stock apps with Root Explorer Tutorial @ Tutorial - Talking about Gadget and Computer Freak I am also seeing many people who use Titanium Backup to remove unwanted app's. It seems that Titanium will only delete them, not move them, but if you know you'll never want it again wouldn't that be okay? For app's like CityID or VZ Nav that you will never use or want?

May 25, 2010I've been looking everywhere and I haven't found an answer still and it is frustrating the hell out of me.
When I go to messages, it lists a ton of e-mail addresses and duplicate names etc etc. When I go to people, these are not listed.
It seems like it is listing every single e-mail address i have ever e-mailed from my gmail account. How do I get rid of this??
For example: John Jones is not listed in "people". But if I go into messages, and check the contact list, it will show two entries:
"john jones: johnjones@gmail.com"
"john jones: johnjones@yahoo.com"
I was able to remove all of the facebook contacts it automatically added, which was stupid to begin with.
Android : Remove Extra Real-estate From Top Of Custom Dialog?
Aug 22, 2010I created a custom dialog that I'm dynamically putting views into via a RelativeLayout. Every time the dialog is displayed, it shows all my child views just great, but it has some space at the top that I can not account for. I'm assuming this is reserved for a "title" of the dialog (which I won't have). Is there a way to remove that space and have my custom dialog just wrap the contents that I'm putting in?

no matter what I do or how I change the layout file, I always have that buffer at the top, how can I get rid of that?
HTC Incredible :: Cannot Remove Stock Applications With Root Explorer
Aug 3, 2010I am trying to remove some of these stock apps like cityid and amazonmp3. What I did was created a folder on my SD "deleted" and I was copying the applications I didnt not want from /system/app. So I moved amazonmp3.adk and cityid.apk to the deleted folder. When I look in the app folder they are gone but when I look under my apps from the home screen they are still there. So I reboot and when i go back into /system/app the apps are mysteriously back.

Apr 14, 2010I am new to this (less than a week) and I removed everything with root explorer (and it was so simple). You can get it from the market. I would recommend it if you are not used to linux commands. It was well worth the two dollars for me. The main thing to know is r/w (read/write) vs. r/o (read only). It is just as it says - r/o will only let you read files, while r/w will let you read AND write files (which includes move and delete).

Seven is really pointless for me, it makes finding the right screen take a little longer and there's just not enough good quality widgets that I need to use. I could do better with 5 and possibly just 3.Second is that when I'm not on a homescreen and I hit the home button, I'd like it to go back to the LAST homescreen I was on, not the center one. And if I'm already on a homescreen, once again pull up the homescreen select menu, instead of going to the center homescreen. It's a waste of a button press to always go to that center screen when pressing the home button.
