Is there a way of increasing the number of screens available on the homescreen. I currently use all 7 which is already generous, but I am greedy for more...! Is this possible?

Two things I'd like to be able to do with my incredible.First is reduce the number of homescreens. Seven is really pointless for me, it makes finding the right screen take a little longer and there's just not enough good quality widgets that I need to use. I could do better with 5 and possibly just 3.Second is that when I'm not on a homescreen and I hit the home button, I'd like it to go back to the LAST homescreen I was on, not the center one. And if I'm already on a homescreen, once again pull up the homescreen select menu, instead of going to the center homescreen. It's a waste of a button press to always go to that center screen when pressing the home button.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have been reading this thread for a few days now alongside the vodafone one.I have had my phone for almost 2 weeks now and think it is really great, although one or two things annoy me especially trying to get used to the keyboard.I was hoping someone would be kind enough to help me with a few issues please.
1. I am not very techy and dont really understand a lot of the jargon used but would like to know the difference between 3g and wi fi and how do I know what I am using.
2. How do yo know how much memory your phone has and if you can add any more. I am frightened that all the photos, applications, videos, contacts etc etc that I will use too much memory.
3. How do yo delete shortcts that you have placed on your extra home screen.
4. How does this gprs thing work is that like having a sat nav?
5. How do yo get your hotmail to be sent to your phone I cant seem to work it out without have to just go to google type in msn hotmail then sign in that way.
6. My bluetooth doesnt work.
As I was adding apps to my home screen I accidentally added an app twice, so I have two Facebook launches next to each other. It really doesn't hurt anything, but looks extremely short bus and I don't want it like that. how I can delete the extra version?

Most of my time with my new precious has been obsessing over how to arrange my screens.
Why the flip do the widgets lock into such ridiculous places!? Sometimes you could fit a whole other line of regular icons in the space that they leave!
So my question: Do any of you have OCD about how the screens are set up, and how do you set it up to work?
is there a way to move the icons without having to remove them and then pick a new place? If not - why with the nice slide functionality, can you not just slide them around on the same screen or the the next?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am working on an application where I wish to have multiple screens (each of full display size) attached to each other horizontally, and switch between them by using the finger (swipe right / swipe left). The home screen does exactly what I want, but its implementation seems to be more complex than I thought. What would be your preferred way to achieve this functionality? Is there any Layout or View that I could reuse? More generally, it should work with the 1.5 SDK, so the gesture interface is not available.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIt's nothing special but I got my 5 Droid X home screens set up, for now, using LauncherPro and figured I'd take capture a few screen shots. I like to keep everything simple and clean with apps put in seperate "sections" without having a bunch of widgets in the way. Feel free to ask any questions and if you want screen caps of certain things let me know.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI sent a text to my sister that said ?and ever since, every time i return to 1 of the home screens from any application, mail, etc, comes up at the bottom of the screen in black, then eventually fades away. What I assume it has something to do with the text i sent, it can't be just a coincidence that it's 4 ? marks too. Never seen anything like it on this phone, had it for about 4 months.

I have 4 subscriptions in the news app and the widget on the home screen. The problem is, read news keeps refreshing on the app after i've read and deleted it. If I read all the news, then delete them all so that it's empty, the widget will "load news" and everything will come back. Is this the way it's supposed to work? I thought only unread articles were supposed to sync but mine just keeps loading all the same crap again, as well as new stuff too.

If I try to add a program to my home scree, none of the apps recently installed (e.g mint.com, yelp, dictionary) show up in the list. But if I go to "All programs", they are there. intent.setAction("com.android.launcher.action.INSTALL_SHORTCUT");sendBroadcast(intent);
And that's cool, that really work!
Now I would like to do something different: I have seen that some actions can "register" somewhere to be added in the Android menu, when you long press on the Home like this one:

So my main question is the next one:
How is that possible to register for this menu. I guess there is some line to add in the manifest, but cannot see where to do that!
There is a secondary question: once i will have succeed doing that, may I add a different number of shortcuts in my menu ( imagine That I would like to do that for a multi-account twitter client, I would like to see a different for each twitter account in this list.) So the number of shortcut is programmaticaly computed.
I justed remove some pre-installed apps from my Wildfire, then when I try adding Widgets to home screen, I see the first widget named as #a5ff0000/HTC. I tap on it, an error shown: The process com.htc.RosieUtility has stopped unexpectedly. Can someone tell me explain me what Rosie Utility is, and which app that it may depend on, or some reason causes it stop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI know how to remove widgets... you long press on them to move them/delete them. My problem is this: I don't know how to remove regular icons on the Hero. On the Moment, everything was simply long press to remove. On this, long pressing the application icons on my home screen(s) just opens the associated programs. I kind of wanted to move them around, I don't wanna have to delete a scene everytime I want to move one icon around.
In short: How do you move/delete application icons from the home screens? (long pressing doesn't work for me)
