Samsung Behold 2 :: Cant Use Stock Apps With Custom ROM ADB
Sep 9, 2010I'm using Bearsfan85's custom ROM, but have lost the voice dialer app that was in the Samsung's touch wiz ROM. As this is helpful to avoid car accidents while on the road, I was hoping to get it back. I have the .apk file but ASTRO file manager won't let me install it. I've tried to adb push it but I get a "read-only file error". For whatever reason, the commands "adb remount" or "adb shell sysrw" aren't being recognized, which I think is what I need to do to adb push the voice dialer back onto my phone.Unless of course, the Samsung apps just aren't compatible anymore.

I manage to edit my android's /etc/hosts file. Here's what I did:
1. Create an Android Virtual Device (AVD)
2. Open the AVD with this command

./emulator -avd android -partition-size 128
3. Execute the following commands

./adb remount
4. Get the android hosts file
Code:
./adb pull /etc/hosts
5. Add my mobile website into the android's hosts file. It looks like the following
Code:
127.0.0.1 localhost
172.19.14.46 m.myweb.localhost
6. Push the hosts file to the simulator
Code:
./adb push hosts /etc/hosts
7. Open the web mobile in the simulator and Host do not found. The web mobile should appear.
Btw I use Ubuntu 10.10 and android-sdk_r08-linux_86 API 7 (Android SDK 2.1)

Jan 24, 2013So, I've got this LG730/Venice (Boost Mobile), also known as US730/Splendor. The problem is that it is stuck in a boot loop(repeating LG logo). I have tried every method, but the phone will not hard reset. I now want to try a recovery on it. I have found a way to get it into download mode, BUT after scouring the net I can not locate the stock ROM or a custom ROM that will (specifically) work with this phone. I would prefer the stock ROM if it is out there somewhere. Any ROM out there that will work for this phone? Also, are the ROM's phone specific or can the same ROM be used for different phones, for instance, can the ROM for the Optimus L7 be used for this phone?

I have a small annoying issue that I am sure could be fixed with a flash, the back button randomly stops working until I reboot.
The baby Einstein on their 800 number thought a factory reset would fix it, then that using the software button was a good enough solution and had no clue about tablets in general. Through Support e-mail they were heading towards wanting me to ship the tablet back rather than supply a link to firmware. I explained to them it doesn't appear to be hardware related as it is random, and reboot fixes it.

But no "Edit Event". In order to edit an event I have to long press while in the Agenda or Day View listing. Anyone else noticed this? I swore on 2.1 "Edit Event" was an option.

However, it also presents some annoying issues. It also saves every typoed address I've ever fat-fingered, and sometimes it comes up as the first choice when it was for someone in my contacts, and I then send a message to a bad address. If you go to write an email and press that little 'contact' button in the "To" field area, it shows me a list, and I don't know where some of those are coming from - it's some but not all of my contacts and some but not all of the addresses I've ever written to. I would like to clean out the fat-finger errors and also that mysterious list that comes up when you press the little contact icon when composing an email, without taking a scorched-earth approach. Googling around indicates to me that this has annoyed people for years and nobody's found a solution.

Nov 8, 2012I am trying to make/edit my first custom rom. As base i am using the Oxygen rom. This rom has all his apps stored in system/app. I inserted an launcher(hololauncher), keyboard(custom htcime) and gallery(quickpick) apk in this folder, but after the rom is flashed these apps are causing fc's and the gallery app isnt even flashed.
I know that not every apk can be placed in the system/app folder, but how can i ensure that these apps will install correctly during flashing.

Jan 21, 2013I have heard people say that you can use Titanium Backup to uninstall stock apps. I don't have the pro version, do I just go to the Backup/Restore menu and click the app and uninstall? Is that it? Also, some of the apps don't seem to show up in Titanium backup. Specifically, I wanted to uninstall Messenger, but I can't find it in the list. Another thing is I want to uninstall the Google Search so that the search capacitive button won't have that app pop up or any of the search app for that matter. Is it safe to uninstall Google Search?

Apr 24, 2014I rooted (using Kingo root) Memo Pad 8 (ME180A) and deleted many bloatwares. The problem is that I also deleted Gallery app which is connected to Camera. So I factory reset via both Settings->Backup and reset and Power+Volume up button. But the deleted apps weren't restored, still missing.
Unrooting and doing factory reset can fix this problem? Or should I download stock firmware or stock Gallery app? I couldn't find stock apps and firmware.

Step 2 :
Open the Terminal emulator and type

rm -r /system/app/FILE-NAME.apk ( For Example : calculator2.apk ) [ ENTER ]

Sep 4, 2013I've recently got myself a samsung galaxy s4. Naturally, the first thing I did was root it and put a custom ROM on it. However, there are a few stock features that I would like back (Read: A FEW), such as the one that tracks your eyes so the screen doesn't rotate when you're lying down.
Is there any way (like a selective app pack, or apks) to get some of the stock features back on my custom ROM? I'm running the latest slimbean.
