I want to replace CM10 clock with one from CM10.1. I have the .apk, and it works when I install it (replaces the CM10's app), but when I reboot the phone it goes back to CM10 clock.
How to permanently install it?

I use fishtext to send SMS (as it is REALLY cheap), but fishtext doesn't provide a Android native app.
I have just bought my N1 and it will arrive next week.
I came across WebSMS (websmsdroid - Project Hosting on Google Code) and it integrates to fishtext (According to some reviews I read).
I would like to replace the stock sms app with WebSMS, is that possible? I don't want to be using the stock SMS app by accident and end up paying loads for SMSs I send. (I send about 1K SMS monthly).

So, I've got this LG730/Venice (Boost Mobile), also known as US730/Splendor. The problem is that it is stuck in a boot loop(repeating LG logo). I have tried every method, but the phone will not hard reset. I now want to try a recovery on it. I have found a way to get it into download mode, BUT after scouring the net I can not locate the stock ROM or a custom ROM that will (specifically) work with this phone. I would prefer the stock ROM if it is out there somewhere. Any ROM out there that will work for this phone? Also, are the ROM's phone specific or can the same ROM be used for different phones, for instance, can the ROM for the Optimus L7 be used for this phone?

When I decompile my systemui using any of the apktool available i run into problems.
Most of the pngs and xmls are fine. Although the only file i want to change doesn't decompile correctly.
The file is res/values/drawables.xml
Alot of the file decompiles fine but i also get this message repeated several times in the xml
<item type="drawable" name="APKTOOL_DUMMY_0086">false
This is repeated about 20 times.

This will replace the stock battery indicator with a circular bar that includes percentage remaining. I flashed this on the DC 3.5 ROM and it works perfectly.

So i installed nexbeast last night.... and I like the theme alot but i used petes script to delete the stock mms application. And the nexus theme has a shortcut on the bottom of the home screen that is linked to the stock mms app, I use handcent is there a way to replace that shortcut? There is an advanced shortcut menu in the configure menu that shows a shortcut saying application package. it reads com.android.mms I am hoping I can replace that with a handcent command but not sure what to do. Any ideas?

I know I've been posting lots of noob questions today, but I am a noob to rooting and I'm trying to get everything straightened out.
When I flash an sbf file, particularly the one that returns to 2.0.1 stock, does that replace 1) the kernel, 2) bootloader, 3)baseband, and anything else I can't think of? lol
I just like to have a backup plan incase something goes terribly wrong and I'm hoping that the .sbf file will replace every single component on my droid so I can start fresh if need be.

My ROM for the Note 2 is a TW base (people want the S-Pen functions). And they like the AOSP feel so i decided to try and make a ROM that is AOSP themed. Well i have the launcher and a few AOSP themed apps such as the messaging app.
The flashers were very satisfied with my work so far. But they wanted an AOSP themed status bar. Meaning some AOSP battery images wifi and so on. I decided just just replace the EXACT images. I used a cm10 ROM to get the pngs. I also did use the newest Apktool to do it. I did all the framework installation. I decompiled both and started transfering. Here is what i did. I went to the drawable-xhdpi folder in both ROMs. They had pretty much identical png names. But the icons were different (one being the blue theme) so i took the blue icons (battery and wifi) and transfered them to my rom. I made sure that only the pngs with the same names were transfered. so there wasnt any issue compiling.
Next i compiled the APK file. Then i used my backup systemui.apk file to transfer the META-INF folder to the new one using 7-zip.Then i went and signed it and used dsixda's android kitchen to zipalign it. Then after all that i pulled that apk from the zipaligned folder and put it on my phone's sd card. I have the root explorer app. I move it to my /system/app folder. It moved successfully. Then i reboot and when it comes back up i dont have a status bar. And my wallpaper is black for a little while and then goes back to the feather thing.
I have tried signing and not signing. Zipaligning and not zipaligning.I am really wanting the AOSP themed icons in the status bar.

I was trying to decompile, modify and then recompile my SystemUI.APK to put THIS mod into it. I am using THIS TOOL.... Now I can successfully decompile my SystemUI.APK, but when I go to recompile it, nothing happens and there is nothing in the recompiled folder.
BTW I have a Sprint GS4 running a custom ROM (TouchWiz based) on Android 4.3.

so recently I have been trying to mod systemUI.apk with apk multi-tool. I decompiled it, made some very minor edits (some smali stuff), recompiled, put on my sdcard, moved it to system/app, renamed it to delete the "system_" part, changed permissions to rw-r--r and rebooted.
When i rebooted, my wallpaper was gone and was just black, I had to recent apps menu and no status bar. I checked settings -> app -> all and systemUI wasn't there
I have already tried wiping cache + dalvik cache and still my new systemUI.apk is not recognised.

I'm very familiar with using APKTool and Compiling/Decompiling Apps. I've run into a problem with the framework-res and SystemUI apps.
Current ROM/App info:
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0
Android 4.2.2 (Samsung Touchwiz)
Framework Installed in APKTool: framework-res.apk, twframework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk
APKTool Version: 2.0 (I've tried almost every version of APKTool and AAPT)
Java Version: 1.7 (as required by APKTool 2.0)
OS: Windows and Linux (same results on each OS)
The framework and SystemUI apps decompile fine. No errors and all the XML/Smali files are perfect. The problem is that I can not recompile either of them. Each time I attempt, I get the same error regarding the Android Manifest file....
Code:
brut.androlib.AndrolibException: brut.androlib.AndrolibException: brut.common.BrutException: c

I know some dev's have been able to sucessfully compile these apps .
FYI - I have even tried compiling the stock apps without any mods and I get the same errors.

Is there a way to replace the standard ListView that pops up when opening a Spinner with a custom one?
I would like for my Spinner list to be Filterable (and/or even possibly have two tabs with different lists the user could select options from). Is this achievable or do I have to do my own implementation alltogether?

I currently own a Samsung galaxy s2, which is still in warranty.
I was wondering if after i flash it with a custom ROM of ICS, i was thinking about sticking on Resurrection Remix ics v1.0 PRO.
If it were possible to literally put the stock operating system back onto it, potentially reapplying my warranty?

Link to any custom or stock firmware for this tablet?
I have a small annoying issue that I am sure could be fixed with a flash, the back button randomly stops working until I reboot.
The baby Einstein on their 800 number thought a factory reset would fix it, then that using the software button was a good enough solution and had no clue about tablets in general. Through Support e-mail they were heading towards wanting me to ship the tablet back rather than supply a link to firmware. I explained to them it doesn't appear to be hardware related as it is random, and reboot fixes it.
