Feb 8, 2012What do I need to do to modify a status bar mtz, to make it look like a gaussian blur background? When I extract the mtz, there aren't any background pngs..just the icons for the status bar. I see there's a theme_values xml, but all the fields in there are color codes and such..

Apr 18, 2014I just don't like using stock launcher or whatever you wanna call it, I've come accustomed to using third party launchers..if i'm using Apex or something.. does the stock launcher continue to run in the background and drain more battery then if I were to just use stock? Is there anyway to disable something if my phone is rooted so I can continue to use Apex but stop the default launcher from running as well? Or does android not work like that and if I have apex it cancels out the default launcher?

Jun 9, 2010New to Android (liking it so far though) is there a way to modify the names of Apps on your Home Screen?
For instance, the name Dolphin Browser HD can't fully be displayed due to length. Android does this fade-out thing: Dolphin Bro and any other App with a name longer than 9ish letters fades out like this.
I'd prefer to simply customize the display name of the App so that it doesn't have to fade out. I find it incredibly ugly.

Oct 6, 2009I'm looking to update my app and provide a sharedUserId as part of my manifest, so that the several apps I have can all nicely look at each other's private files if necessary. Unfortunately, I've discovered that adding a sharedUserId where it did not exist before will change the userId and make me unable to modify current existing files.Is there a graceful way to handle updating your sharedUserId now that I need its functionality? Or am I pretty much resigned to requiring people to uninstall and reinstall my app to be able to do this?

I installed LBE Privacy, and set GPS access to PROMPT for all applications I saw on the list, including system apps, I even deny it to Google Framerowk, and still it happens. How can I get to the bottom of it?

Mar 17, 2013When playing music with the stock Music Player application on my phone and turning the phone screen off or multitasking, the music is still able to play in the background. Is it possible to do the same with the stock YouTube app? I want to let the audio of the YouTube video I am watching to keep playing when I either exit out of the app or when I press the power button on my phone to turn off the screen to save battery. Although I can just set my phone screen to not go off when idle for a certain amount of time, but then again, that is battery consuming.

Jan 21, 2013I have heard people say that you can use Titanium Backup to uninstall stock apps. I don't have the pro version, do I just go to the Backup/Restore menu and click the app and uninstall? Is that it? Also, some of the apps don't seem to show up in Titanium backup. Specifically, I wanted to uninstall Messenger, but I can't find it in the list. Another thing is I want to uninstall the Google Search so that the search capacitive button won't have that app pop up or any of the search app for that matter. Is it safe to uninstall Google Search?

Apr 24, 2014I rooted (using Kingo root) Memo Pad 8 (ME180A) and deleted many bloatwares. The problem is that I also deleted Gallery app which is connected to Camera. So I factory reset via both Settings->Backup and reset and Power+Volume up button. But the deleted apps weren't restored, still missing.
Unrooting and doing factory reset can fix this problem? Or should I download stock firmware or stock Gallery app? I couldn't find stock apps and firmware.

Sep 24, 2012I'm wondering if I'm not alone in this: I have a rooted Evo 4G LTE running Jelly Bean/Paranoid Android 2.13. I'm running into an issue with running audio apps like Google Play Music and Doggcatcher. Basically sometimes if I'm playing something and I switch to another app, a few moments or minutes later the audio dies and the audio app gets killed. I can tell because when I enter back into Doggcatcher, the loading screen starts up as if it wasn't running before. Is this a case of over aggressive task killing? Is there a way to prevent this at all?

Nov 3, 2013I own a Droid Razr M (8 GB) and I am running a stock build(9.8.1Q-78-1), and yesterday I reset my phone to factory defaults because I filled up it's disk space, then, I re-rooted it, it worked fine, but now, today I am missing EVERY SINGLE stock app, I tried resetting it to factory defaults again, and it still was missing them all, I then used a device explorer, and my "system/app" folder is like completely empty, (DROID RAZR M Running JB 4.1.2 as stated in the title)
If it makes a difference, it is a Verizon, it was 100% stock still, I had not installed anything yet after I rooted it, and the root was 100% successful because I did it the same way I did before.
All I need is, Camera, Galary, and Calendar now.
