I have about a million words that need correcting in my Custom Dictionary but editing the damn thing is nearly impossible. Why can't they implement a way for us to make multiple selections instead of scrolling us all the way back to the top of the list upon deleting an entry? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI do not have the option for "User Dictionary" when I press the settings key (button that looks like a gear at the bottom left of keyboard). I think its because of my location. I'm from Singapore and the keyboard that comes with it is a "CN Thai Keyboard". The settings button has a "abc" or "<chinese character>" below the "gear" symbol that toggles between chinese or english input when pressed. If held, some chinese input entry method options appear. No sight of an option to edit my user dictionary.
I want to edit the dictionary to remove wrongly spelled words I accidentally entered. I know the majority of you guys have another keyboard that came with your phone, and prob don't have this problem, but just wondering if someone from this forum might know..
I've looked for other threads about editing Swype's dictionary but have found none, so will ask here: I love using Swype Lite (1.16.12.5228) but have found the dictionary and the little word options popup to be less than helpful. I've tried to add words individually per the instructions saying to add each letter carefully then press the space bar, but the new word doesn't seem to be available the next time. And when I do try to enter 1 letter at a time it automatically adds another letter and spaces to each of the letters I'm trying to tap in. I would love to know if I can access Swype's dictionary through the SD card or wherever, and go in there and edit the shit out of it. Anybody know how, or if it's possible?

For reading the forum it seemed people thought with sense 2.1 that one would be able to edit the dictionary. I can;t find a way to do this? It would be nice to edit/delete the misspelled words inadvertently added.
There are some words they I never use that always autocorrect when I'm typing. Like instead of "K.", I usually get "k.d.lang". Sensation.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAm I losing my mind, or is it not possible to add words with apostrophes into the custom dictionary? The key word here is "we'll." I use that word all the time, and for that word not to be a suggested word when you type "well" is balls-out crazy. Oddly, on plain Android 2.1, if you type "well," the first suggestion you get is "we'll." Yet, on HTC Sense, there is no "we'll." And to make matters worse, you cannot add it Why? This is just like the "ill" and "I'll" relationship. HTC Sense has "I'll," and in fact, will default to "I'll" if you start a sentence with "ill." But nothing for "well."

Is it possible to update it to a working version? EG:
I tried to write "spiser" (eat) but it suggested "spiser r" (Sophagus)
When I wrote "klokken" (at) it suggested klokkesl t" (time)
It changes simple every day words into complicated - rarely used words.
I can add new words as I'm typing but I'm wondering if it's possible to see all of my custom words and remove some.

I have their stock Roms how to edit it with custom apps and port it into a custom Rom .
If there was any way that I could get a hint at the bottom of an Edit Text view -- and then the user to start entering text at the top of the box.
As a bonus question, is there any way I can make the hint NOT disappear once the user starts entering text.
I have words in my dictionary that I want to remove, like "git". I checked my user dictionary but its not there. Can anyone else point me to where I can remove this entry? Also, when typing "Yahoo", the suggestions have a bunch of Asian characters next to "Yahoo". Does anyone know how to fix this?

If i was texting along and came to a word that wasn't in the dictionary, I could just long press and then select "add to dictionary". Well this phone doesn't have that option and so I'm wondering if I'm just missing it or what..?

For instance, I often mistakenly put in the word "Urea" when I want to say, "Yea." I don't see myself every needing the word "Urea," so I want to delete it from the Swype dictionary, but I can't seem to figure it out because it's not a word I made Swype learn, it's a word that came with Swype. 1. Is there a way to restore my user defined dictionary? What about bookmarks?

I'm developing a mobile website and I want to see how it looks in Android Simulator.
I manage to edit my android's /etc/hosts file. Here's what I did:
1. Create an Android Virtual Device (AVD)
2. Open the AVD with this command

./emulator -avd android -partition-size 128
3. Execute the following commands

./adb remount
4. Get the android hosts file
Code:
./adb pull /etc/hosts
5. Add my mobile website into the android's hosts file. It looks like the following
Code:
127.0.0.1 localhost
172.19.14.46 m.myweb.localhost
6. Push the hosts file to the simulator
Code:
./adb push hosts /etc/hosts
7. Open the web mobile in the simulator and Host do not found. The web mobile should appear.
Btw I use Ubuntu 10.10 and android-sdk_r08-linux_86 API 7 (Android SDK 2.1)
How can I type a word that is not in my dictionary, use it, but not add it to my dictionary. Very cumbersome to do currently, and one of the reasons I sometimes don't use stock keyboard.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhile using the predictive text in the DINC I sometimes want to type something that isn't a word like an acronym or some abbreviation. Predictive text will suggest a word close to what I am typing but I don't want that. It offers exactly what I am typing as an option but then it adds that text to the dictionary. Sometimes that's great but most of the time I want to simple use the term once and not add it to to dictionary. If I type space it will change my text. If I select the offered override it adds the text to my dictionary. How do I just keep what I am typing?
