Anyone else experience this? You pull out your phone from your pocket, unlock the screen, and BAM instant headache. It's like the mind eraser from MIB. I love this screen! I was a little hesitant to order based on the flak the N1 screen got regarding resolution and fuzzy text, but I've found the improved vividness of the colors more than makes up for the very slight degradation in sharpness.

View 2 Replies View Relateddoes anybody know of a way to make the flash not so bright on the EVO? the thing is so bright it just washes the photos out.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI just got home with my new Droid and I am wondering if I got a lemon. My screen seems very dim. I didnt really notice it in the store, however compared to my Droid Eris (which is at about 30% screen brightness) the Droid looks much dimmer, even when its at 100% brightness. The only other thing I can think of is that its the Invisible Shield the guy at Best Buy applied for free. Do they dim the screen at all? With my Eris I can literally have it turned to 25% brightness and it seems brighter than the Droid at full. As does my iPod touch. It has to be turned down to 50% or so before it matches the Droid at full. I have turned off auto brightness and manually turned up the Droid to full.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI got my Eris on Friday, and it has 4 pixels (2x2 square) that are significantly brighter than all of the others on the screen and they stand out like a sore thumb. This really bugs me and is distracting when that area of the screen is white or colored (doesn't show up when black).Has anyone else had this problem? Will Verizon exchange my phone for a new one? Seems like if I buy this phone and I'm stuck with it for two years, it should be flawless when I get it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I was looking at my friends moment and I noticed that his screen was brighter than mine. I checked our settings and they were identical. The only difference was that I had spare parts installed and he didn't. So I installed spare parts on his phone check settings and they were identical. I uninstalled spare parts turn my phone off and on and his display is still brighter. Is there a way I can reset my phone settings without losing all my info. Or get my screen to be the brightest setting. Me and my friend both use quick settings and the display settings are the same on both phones... its weird. I hope my phones screen isn't messed up.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC Desire (that is a Droid Incredible to Verizon people in the US). I like the 3.7" 480x800 AMOLED screen but it is too reflective and difficult to read under bright sunlight. Also the pentile pixel arrangement means that very small text is a bit blurry.
My Dad has the Samsung Galaxy S which has a 4" 480x800 Super AMOLED screen. It is very beautiful, very bright, not too reflective.
As far as Android phones go the following have the best screen:
HTC EVO - 4.3" 480x800 TFT (stolen from the HTC HD2).
Sony Experia 10 - 4.0" 480x800 TFT
Samsung Galaxy S - 4.0" 480x800 Super AMOLED
Nexus One/HTC Desire/HTC Droid Incredible - 3.7" 480x800 AMOLED. Anyone my question is what is the perfect screen for an android touchscreen phone?
1. What size?
2. What resolution?
3. What technology, TFT, Super AMOLED etc?
4. As for those who care capacitive or resistive? I expect 80% or 90% want capacitive. As people know the iphone 4 has a res of 640x960 but they have crippled the size at 3.5" (as a tactic to get people to also buy an ipad no doubt). I used to own a Nokia internet tablet 770. It had a 4.1" 480x800 resistive screen. The same with the Toshiba TG01. I think 4.1" is the perfect size. Something like 600x900 resolution. And either a TFT IPS or a RGB Super AMOLED capacitive.
Im curious, am i the only one who's getting quite annoyed about the glaring too bright white LED light that comes from the buttons? its almost as annoying as the early PDA's which had piercing blue flashing bluetooth indicators....
View 11 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if anyone found a way to get the incredible to go lower than the default 11% lowest setting sometimes at night even at this lowest setting it is still too bright and I wish it could go a bit lower also is there anyway to get the 4 home/menu lights to turn off? I really wish there was a widget for this as those too can be distracting when trying to watch a video at night.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAt night, if I'm in a dark room, I find that the lowest brightness setting is still to bright. Is there any way to make it less bright than the lowest stock setting?
I'm running rooted 2.2 OTA.
No question the Droid has awesome resolution, but I have noticed that the screen lacks the bright punch of the Eris or iPhone. I have checked this at several Verizon stores and on the You tube videos that compare phones and features. The Droid shows up rather bland on the videos versus the others. My phone arrives tomorrow or Tuesday but I thought someone else might have a reasonable response to this. Comments welcome.
View 23 Replies View RelatedHave it plugged in and set for stay on while charging and set to full brightness, but it keeps dimming after a few seconds. Doesn't go off, but dims significantly until touched. I want it to do what I say, stay on whatever brightness setting I have while charging, period.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm new to the forums but I couldn't find an answer. I'm posting from the road, don't worry I'm not driving, but this screen is way to bright. Thw lowest the display goes is giving me eye strain. Is there any way to make the lowest setting lower?
View 10 Replies View RelatedWhy is the IPOD touch brighter on white back ground than my new captivate?
I've found a lot to complain about (see the wishlist thread). But there's a lot good with this device. My list:
- Beautiful bright screen. I really do think that it puts the ip4 to shame in the combination of size and brightness. The ip4 screen is a better resolution but for the things I use a phone for, this one has it whipped.
- Ergonomic perfection. It is weighted beautifully, and sits in my hand nicely. I never feel as if its too big or I'm going to drop it.
- Implementation of keyboard. Android keyboard works great; swype is pretty nifty too. Im already more comfortable typing on this onscreen keyboard than I was with the physical blackberry 9700 keypad.
- Great as a phone. Its loud, nice dialing features, clear and crisp conversations on both ends of the line, and a nice distortion free speaker. THis makes me happy happy as I found the phone aspect of the HTC aria to be a bit lacking (not loud enough, crappy speakerphone, folks on the other end thought sound quality bit.)
- Speed. I know I've complained about lag, but that seems to be a transient issue. By and large, its a very snappy phone and moves into most apps quickly.
Went into the mall where I work this morning, there's a verizon kiosk right outside my store. Pick up an Incredible. Start driving home while playing with it. At a red light I notice a bright green pixel over an orange area of my wallpaper. Indeed it was there throughout any application I used. When I loaded up the browser and went to "about:blank" (which loads a fully white screen) I was able to see it there also.
Bummer. I live 14 miles from where I work, and where I picked up this Incredible. So I head over to another Verizon store closer to where I live. I show the agent, and he agrees and we swap it. Next phone... dust under the screen, 3 particles, right out of the box!
Once more another replacement. This time a red bright pixel around the same area (lower left quadrant of the screen) as the first phone! 4th phone into it, finally no issues.
Has anyone else gotten dead/ bright pixels in their AMOLED displays? Open your browser and enter this address in. about:blank, just like that. look hard, tell me what ya find. Took me four phones to get a good one. Hope everyone else here doesn't have to go through the same.
I was out and about today with my new Droid and it happened to be very sunny today making it near impossible to see the screen. Any settings I can adjust or screen Protector/filter I could but to fix this?
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy last phone was a Nokia N86 8MP. Like the x10, it to had a 8.1 MP camera. Unlike the x10, the images on the Nokia seemed a little clearer, but what really sets the Nokia's camera apart from the x10's is the flash. I recently tried taking a photo with the x10 in a dark room, although the photo light seemed bright, you couldn't see anything past 5 ft, the same applies in video mode. With the Nokia that was never a problem, the flash was bright enough to light up the entire room and so was the video light. I suggest, if it's legally possible, SE have it's testers look at the Nokia N86 8MP and borrow, if not improve upon their camera, flash and video setup.

Motorola Droid - Original
1. Rooted 2.1, then
2. OTA Stock Update to 2.2, then
3. Seem to have lost root, However - I still have the Superuser Permissions Icon.
I use Barnacle for WiFi Tether - I get a "Permission Denied" error when I try to start the application. I also went into the terminal emulator and tried an "su" which also gave a permission denied response. I tried "sudo" and also got permission denied response. Others have told me this is common with this progression of events. However, How do I now ROOT 2.2 in this scenario?
