Went into the mall where I work this morning, there's a verizon kiosk right outside my store. Pick up an Incredible. Start driving home while playing with it. At a red light I notice a bright green pixel over an orange area of my wallpaper. Indeed it was there throughout any application I used. When I loaded up the browser and went to "about:blank" (which loads a fully white screen) I was able to see it there also.
Bummer. I live 14 miles from where I work, and where I picked up this Incredible. So I head over to another Verizon store closer to where I live. I show the agent, and he agrees and we swap it. Next phone... dust under the screen, 3 particles, right out of the box!
Once more another replacement. This time a red bright pixel around the same area (lower left quadrant of the screen) as the first phone! 4th phone into it, finally no issues.
Has anyone else gotten dead/ bright pixels in their AMOLED displays? Open your browser and enter this address in. about:blank, just like that. look hard, tell me what ya find. Took me four phones to get a good one. Hope everyone else here doesn't have to go through the same.

Im curious, am i the only one who's getting quite annoyed about the glaring too bright white LED light that comes from the buttons? its almost as annoying as the early PDA's which had piercing blue flashing bluetooth indicators....

Anyone else experience this? You pull out your phone from your pocket, unlock the screen, and BAM instant headache. It's like the mind eraser from MIB. I love this screen! I was a little hesitant to order based on the flak the N1 screen got regarding resolution and fuzzy text, but I've found the improved vividness of the colors more than makes up for the very slight degradation in sharpness.

I'm thinking about this phone for my wife...but she's read some iffy comments on amoled screens being hard to read in bright sunlight. How has it been for you? Difficult to use outside or not?

I've had my Inc since near the beginning (AMOLED), and just recently noticed a speck of dust under the screen. Nothing major, but a bit annoying when you're OCD like me. I bought it from Best Buy originally. Is this a pretty standard issue for the Inc, and most large screened smartphones for that matter? Is it worth taking in?? Will the problem just get worse, or is it an inevitable thing?

I rooted my Inc with the Evo tool, and installed a ROM through ROM manager, after deciding that I did not want to keep the ROM, I tried to restore back to the stock rooted ROM I had before through the clockworkmod/nandroid options. Now the phone is stuck at the white screen that reads, "htc incredible" and none of the buttons will cause anything to happen. I was debating on doing a battery pull and restarting, but I believe I read somewhere that doing so would brick the phone.
Update: Did a battery pull and was able to boot into the HBOOT and run the nandroid recovery again, I am trying it now to see if I can get back to the original ROM.
Update:Update:
After rerestoring the phone, the boot animation runs all the way through and the phone starts back up.

Got the WSOD on a non-rooted, stock 2.2 incredible last night. Pulling the battery is the only way to turn it off. Recovery and Factory Reset from hboot manager hang at the htc white screen. Clear Storage also goes straight to the white screen. If turned off it'll charge. SD card is not corrupted. Phone was in close proximity to an iphone 3g for maybe an hour. (We'd been comparing the screens then the iphone was placed on top of the incredible while we ate dinner.) Noticed that phone was at the white screen. Battery was not warm. No signs of external damage. Either this is totally random, or the RF from the iphone managed to fry something.

I just got my incredible and I noticed these wierd white dots that appear to be on the LCD screen. I can see them when the phone is off or on a black background. The dots are in an organized pattern like 8-10 across and maybe 10-15 down. They look like specs of dust under the protective screen, but they are placed to perfectly to be that
My guess is that its for the touch screen, but is it normal to see it when its off as well? I've never owned a touch screen phone.

My Incredible has been exhibiting some annoying problems, but the one that really irked me was the VERY pink screen when it was dimmed to a lower brightness setting. I got a very nice tier 2 rep who said he'd put me on the list for a replacement, but I would not receive it until mid august.Yesterday, my neighbor came over with a box; said that FedEx gave it to him since I was not home to sign. It was another inc! It was just the bare phone, and in the "certified replacement" packaging. No pink hue, no sound quality issues. I'm happy. I just found it strange that these things are on heavy backorder, and I somehow got one immediately.

I go to install Nandroid preparing to backup ROM. I installed what I think was Nandroid from the Market. Now My phone turns on with a solid White Screen? The Phone was rooted (old method). What can I do to be able to make the phone just simply work?

First post: This is probably a dumb question. Why do I get a white screen with a circle and a gray triangle when trying to view flash content? Example: Zinio or Olivesoftware. Motodroid, Android 2.2, Flash 10.1.92.8 from Market.

Well I noticed my screen on my Evo just didn't seem to look very bright/clear..for a expensive phone.I would figure the screen would be very bright an nice..anyway I went to Best Buy an looked at the Display model an man what a difference.the Display model was much brighter an clearer then mine..I couldn't believe it..my screen just looks washed out ..so now I need to exchange my phone. Now there is where I run into a problem..all the best buys are sold out.Plus when they do get them in its for Pre Paid people.so basically I need to call in every week till the 30 days is up so I can get a new one.

I just got home with my new Droid and I am wondering if I got a lemon. My screen seems very dim. I didnt really notice it in the store, however compared to my Droid Eris (which is at about 30% screen brightness) the Droid looks much dimmer, even when its at 100% brightness. The only other thing I can think of is that its the Invisible Shield the guy at Best Buy applied for free. Do they dim the screen at all? With my Eris I can literally have it turned to 25% brightness and it seems brighter than the Droid at full. As does my iPod touch. It has to be turned down to 50% or so before it matches the Droid at full. I have turned off auto brightness and manually turned up the Droid to full.

I have just noticed that there is a lot of dust under the screen on my phone, ive had it about 10 days now and it lives either in my pocket or on the desk. Has anyone else had this on the desire yet? Should I try to take off the glass front or try to use the one months free insurance (which is probably worthless) that Vodafone made me have?

I have received three Desires and all have had dust under the screen. It's white and almost looks like a tiny hair. You really have to look to notice it, but once you know it's there it is rather annoying. I just wanted to see how many suffer from this problem on their Desire. In order to check properly, your phone needs to be off or in standby mode. Wipe away all excess dust on the screen and look very carefully. Post your findings in this thread and vote in the poll. Feel free to post information about how long you have had your phone, if it's built up over time, was present as soon as you took it out of the box, your location and network.

There are now two dust specs on the left side of the screen; one on top, and one on the bottom. Has anyone else seen this? Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do about this? It seems silly to return the phone and get a new one for something so simple, but if it becomes a large problem, it will not be something I am willing to live with.

No question the Droid has awesome resolution, but I have noticed that the screen lacks the bright punch of the Eris or iPhone. I have checked this at several Verizon stores and on the You tube videos that compare phones and features. The Droid shows up rather bland on the videos versus the others. My phone arrives tomorrow or Tuesday but I thought someone else might have a reasonable response to this. Comments welcome.

Have it plugged in and set for stay on while charging and set to full brightness, but it keeps dimming after a few seconds. Doesn't go off, but dims significantly until touched. I want it to do what I say, stay on whatever brightness setting I have while charging, period.

I'm new to the forums but I couldn't find an answer. I'm posting from the road, don't worry I'm not driving, but this screen is way to bright. Thw lowest the display goes is giving me eye strain. Is there any way to make the lowest setting lower?

I've found a lot to complain about (see the wishlist thread). But there's a lot good with this device. My list:
- Beautiful bright screen. I really do think that it puts the ip4 to shame in the combination of size and brightness. The ip4 screen is a better resolution but for the things I use a phone for, this one has it whipped.
- Ergonomic perfection. It is weighted beautifully, and sits in my hand nicely. I never feel as if its too big or I'm going to drop it.
- Implementation of keyboard. Android keyboard works great; swype is pretty nifty too. Im already more comfortable typing on this onscreen keyboard than I was with the physical blackberry 9700 keypad.
- Great as a phone. Its loud, nice dialing features, clear and crisp conversations on both ends of the line, and a nice distortion free speaker. THis makes me happy happy as I found the phone aspect of the HTC aria to be a bit lacking (not loud enough, crappy speakerphone, folks on the other end thought sound quality bit.)
- Speed. I know I've complained about lag, but that seems to be a transient issue. By and large, its a very snappy phone and moves into most apps quickly.

Anyone else having this issue and how did you deal with it? I'm thinking about bringing it into the Sprint store and hopefully, they can clean it out.

I don't even think I am gonna bother with all the crap I went through last time, but I wanted to see if anyone else was seeing dust under there screens? My hero was horrible, had the evo for about a week and sure enough dust is accumulating in the upper right. I don't understand how HTC cannot put together a phone to keep dust out yet they can fit amazing hardware into the thing. I never ever had this problem with any of my old phones (besides the hero)
Yeah I could exchange it, get another which will prob accumulate dust. Or call HTC and send it in for another 3 weeks. But I just feel after all the problems the hero had with dust they might concentrate on sealing it properly. I know some people think this is being too picky. But a 600 dollar device should not show dust less than a week after owning. Sadly, I'm just not that surprised..

Some users are reporting that they have dust under their screen. Hopefully it was a manufacturing error and didn't get in there post assembly. However recent reports of other users saying water freely got under their screen when they installed a screen or body shield have me concerned. Is there a reasonable way to absolutely and definitively seal the area around the screen to prevent dust entry? It would have to be invisible to the eye for it to be feasible. I was thinking that a black thread inserted in the gap might act like a gasket and completely eliminate the possibility of dust entry. I don't know if this is even possible to do and I am too chicken to attempt it. But if it worked it would be removable too. Any thoughts on this or other ideas?
