I don't know why but suddenly my gmail app is not notifying me of new email. When I open the app it isn't even showing that I have new emails even when I can look on my computer and see that I do. Is there a fix for this? I haven't changed any settings on my phone or on the app that would have caused this to my knowledge.

I get hundreds of emails every day and I currently get a notification but no audio tone or vibrate as it would be going crazy. This is how I want my general email notifications set up. So that part is fine. What I do want however is for starred messages to play a tone/vibrate similar to my text messages. I went into Gmail and then Manage Labels within the menu and I confirmed that 'Starred' is set to sync all and ring, vibrate, notify once. This to me seems like it should be notifying the way I just described that I'm looking for but there is no different notification for starred messages the way I had hoped. What am I doing wrong here?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI wanted to know if it is possible to associate my android device with my very own custom domain instead of '@gmail.com'. For example: I have my own email alias: 'bob@builder.com' that is setup up as a forwarder to my Gmail 'bob@gmail.com' which is associated to my android device, but when viewing I'm gmail app it will show the 'gmail tag'... I want it to show my custom email.
Now, I know that you select to send emails using your forwarder, but that's not what I want.
I've had my nifty ZTE Warp for a while now and I'm pretty happy. One thing that's a bit annoying, however, is the email application on my phone. When I'm on my laptop, I frequently delete or sort my emails into various folders through Gmail. The actual Gmail app on my phone will reflect such changes instantly. However, the 'Email' app on my phone seems to store every single email I receive, whether I delete it or not! It also sends me copies of my sent messages. I have two Gmail accounts attached to my phone and I have this same issue with both.

I have entered my account details, I can send emails but I don't get a notification when I receive an email to my Gmail Inbox. I have checked the settings and I have setup a ringtone and selected the option to flag up an icon in the notification bar. However the only way I know I have an email is if I open the app. I have a task manager and Gmail is on the ignore list.

Anytime I click it it gives me an authentication error and asks me to sign into it, which I can't do of course, becauseit no longer exists. When I open it it shows for a few seconds and then disappears, then new email count disappears. After I go back to using the phone new email appears again, then the same cycle..

I want to delete that singular draft message, but I see no way of doing it, short of deleting the entire conversation or going to a computer to do it. (Come to think of it, I don't see a way to delete any of the emails within a conversation). Am I missing something on how to delete a single email within a conversation?
2) on an email thread, when I hit "previously read messages", it shows the messages in oldest to newest order, meaning I have to scroll all the way to the bottom to see the latest emails from a conversation. Is there a way to change the sort?
is there a way to set up my email (not gmail) to only download automatically over wifi? I receive a lot of work emails and it uses data unnecessarily when it downloads on my phone when I am at work. Ideal will be to only download when I change the setting. Don't want to turn of data completely because then all the other apps stop working too (WhatsApp, facebook etc.)

All of a sudden, when I do the same thing, it opens up the G mail In box and I have to click the email itself to open it. Am I delusional and this is how it's always been?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI usually send out group emails on my computer so I thought id set it up on my razr. I got the group set up under contacts without any flaws. I go in to send an email to the group and it had them all set up for me nice and neatly. Then it asks me for an account and gmail isnt even an option.
I really dont want to have to add my gmail account under the email accounts section then id have two email apps if you know what i mean.

I'm in the process of switching from an iPhone 4 to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus purchased direct from Google. I wish to setup my Yahoo account, but I've run into a problem. I can receive and send emails without problems, but I can't find a feature to automatically bcc messages back to myself. I do this so that I can synchronize Sent messages with my PC. Is this feature missing in Android V4.1 or am I just not seeing it?

At the moment I am using the default htc email widget, however when ever I read an email from my gmail account it doesnt update the read status so it still shows as unread.
I would like one that would update the read status and possible the support for unified inbox so I can see new mail from hotmail account and gmail.
How do I go about emailing all contacts within either the default contacts app or Gmail?
As it's a phone/tablet, the browser version of Gmail (Desktop) often crashs and isn't suitable for contacts work - is there a way to do it otherwise?
I'm trying to generate a notification which vibrates the phone and plays a sound when the screen is off (cpu turned off). According to the Log messages, the notification is being sent, but the phone doesn't vibrate or play the sound until I turn the screen on again. I tried holding a 2 second temporary wakelock (PowerManager.PARTIAL_WAKE_LOCK), which I thought would be ample time for the notification to be played, but alas, it still doesn't.
Any pointers to get the notification to run reliably? I'm testing this on an G1 running Android 1.6.

I just got this thing a week ago and was beginning to wonder why I hadn't gotten a voicemail in that long since I don't answer every call. Well last night I discovered that I had a bunch of them but it's not letting me know. I did the setup like it instructed when I got the phone. Anyone else ever have this problem and if so, how did you fix it? Thanks.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a situation here where i have an intent A that calls intent B. In Android 2.x, the application B consistently crashes the dawvik virtual machine when it runs the second time. Then, if A calls B again, it works.
Is there a way to let A find out that the vm has crashed? This way, i could just redo intent B.
I have HTC mail set up to access my googlemail account and it is set to check every hour for new mail.
When the phone is rebooted everything seems to work fine but then after a while it appears that the phone will stop checking for emails on the hour.
If I go into mail it will retrieve them at that point but it should have picked them up several hours ago.
The problem only seems to have been occuring the past week or so but I cannot figure out why.
The only things that have changed are the OTA update and returning from holiday abroad but I cannot see how this would have affected things.
Let me start off by saying that I'm 100% new to Android as of last night. I switched from the iPhone 3G over to the Samsung Captivate.I like it a lot, but have a couple of questions about the email. I have a Gmail icon and I have an Email icon. Seeing that I use Gmail for my personal email, can I replace the Email icon on the home page with the Gmail icon?Also, if you are using Gmail, is there any point to have the Email app installed? Can I uninstall it?

View 1 Replies View Relatedgoogle talk is not notifying me when i get a new message i just look and its there. i have notifications enabled in settings on talk. does the same thing on my wifes incredible. my droid did not have this problem. can anyone else confirm they have the same problem or a solution for it. i much prefer realtime chat over sms texting.
