I turned off notification in the HTC Mail app and I don�t even have any accounts in that one. I do have 3 gmail accounts in the Gmail app. Every new email will trip the notification twice. It�s a bit annoying. How do I fix it to show only once?

Googled this issue and can't seem to find the resolution. I am using the Gmail app which came pre-installed on the phone. I have entered my account details, I can send emails but I don't get a notification when I receive an email to my Gmail Inbox. I have checked the settings and I have setup a ringtone and selected the option to flag up an icon in the notification bar. However the only way I know I have an email is if I open the app. I have a task manager and Gmail is on the ignore list.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhy is it that sometimes when I receive emails I get two notifications for one email? They are different formats of notifications though. Both from Gmail just different looking screens. I usually get the outlined envelope in my notification bar but sometimes will get that and also the solid white envelope. Both are the same email just two different notifications. Doesn't happen all the time. Any ideas?

Since I currently use HTC Sense on my EVO, I also have a standard "Email" icon/widget that does the same. However that Widget is HTC Sense only and I'm looking to switch to a new launcher...
Is there any 3rd party standard android widgets that will show a simple 1x1 icon (preferably customizable) with your non-gmail email count?
When I get a new email on gmail, I pull down the notification drop down, select the email then view the email, and out of habit or ease of use, I hit the home button ...because it just makes sense that if I don't need to respond that I want to go back to the home screen directly. Why in the hell does the stupid notification not go away until I check the email 2 times.the only way the notification goes away is if when I select the email to check, I have to hit the back button which takes me back to the email list then either hit back again or home.

Basically, I want to use the Gmail app that comes pre-installed. I have my Accounts set up to sync everything Google related: contacts, gmail, calendar, and picasa [which I don't use, but whatever]. I Don't want to use the Email app [the one with the @ symbol on the icon]. The problem I'm facing is there appears to be a fairly large delay between receive the email on my computer, and receiving it on my phone. I have Wifi Sleep set to Never, and enabled Notifications on the Gmail app as well.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just swapped my htc hero last night with another one that had the "with google" logo on the back thinking it would let me get Rev.A but it turns out it was manufactured 9/26/09 and it still says Rev.0. Anyways, the first htc hero I had would instantly notify my of new Gmail email, sometimes even before Gmail inbox on my PC would get it, so it was instantaneous, but this new one has like a minute or 2 delay. Is anyone getting this? what are your delays like? Did I just swap my phone for a defective one? Someone please comment.

I am coming from a Pre, which had a very nice notification system. The new email notification would show the sender, subject, and number of new emails. You could then click to either go to the mailbox, or directly to the latest new email shown at your discretion.
I have set up both GMail through the GMail app, and an Exchange server through the Mail app, but the only notification I get is "New email" without specifics. Also, clicking won't bring me directly to the new email, but to the Inbox.
I'm setting up my new desire, and gmail works just fine, but the push email or email notification perhaps rather, is acting kind of irrational.
First when I set it up it would go off at about the same time as my email checker on my computer using imap idle. On the second email arriving though there is no more notification from the desire phone, this may be a feature although a weird one. Now I go into the inbox on the desire and delete the 2 emails in question and exit. The next time an email arrives the phone will react but not nearly as fast, it can be minutes or even more.
Is there an app out there for 2.0 that will allow me to specify the color of the LED based on whether it is an email, gmail, facebook? I already have Handcent for SMS.

This has been so frustrating since I purchased the Droid, and a quick google search showed that this is a problem many have but google was not exactly rushing to fix!
Issue 4190 - android - Gmail Notifications Bug?Project Hosting on Google Code.I stumbled upon Gmail Notifier (free) in the android market a couple of days ago, and it fixes the problem! Plus, it has has multi-account support and custom options regarding LED color, vibration length, etc. And it does not run in the background, so no decreased battery life, etc.The original version did not have support for multiple accounts, but I sent a quick email to the Dev and he fixed it in the new update that came today!I'm using it in conjunction with Gmail Unread Count widgets, and finally the email on my Droid is up to par with (well, actually better than) my old blackberry!
Unless I'm losing it, whenever I had a new email notification, pulled down the notification bar, and clicked the email, G mail app opened up the email itself. All of a sudden, when I do the same thing, it opens up the G mail In box and I have to click the email itself to open it. Am I delusional and this is how it's always been?

Well, i have putted to be notified in 1 hour if i have new emails the problem is the phone didn't check the emails and didn't have the notifications. only if i enter on the "Mail" application i have the new emails.. if i didn't enter, this didn't check the emails. What is the problem?. I have APN droid installed and i have deactivated the 3g 2g gaps. But i have configuration the WIFI to stay connected always.

I have been a long time Blackberry user and made the switch to Android just yesterday morning and really love it. I hope someone can help me with this issue.
I have noticed that a couple of times I get the email notification sound but there is no email. A couple of minutes later I receive an email with its own notification sound. Another time, I heard the notification sound AND the new email icon on the top left of the screen but there was no email. Several minutes later, the email was delivered to the handset.
The email accounts that I have set up on the handset are one yahoo with mail plus, and one gmail account. I believe the issues happened with the gmail account.
Over the past week or 2, several times now, I'll get a series of email notifications (sometimes as many as 10 or so, a few seconds apart), but then there won't be any messages. I'll check later, but still nothing.
I have a POP, gmail and an exchange account.
I'll also sometimes have POP email keep coming back, sometimes 5+ times, after deleting it every time. It may be 30 minutes later, or hours later.
I know this has most likely been discussed many times. But I am looking for a decent email widget.
At the moment I am using the default htc email widget, however when ever I read an email from my gmail account it doesnt update the read status so it still shows as unread.
I would like one that would update the read status and possible the support for unified inbox so I can see new mail from hotmail account and gmail.
Doesn't exist? It seems like a pretty useful, basic thing.

Seeing that I use Gmail for my personal email, can I replace the Email icon on the home page with the Gmail icon?Also, if you are using Gmail, is there any point to have the Email app installed? I'd really like to hear my notification sound, once, for each e-mail. Currently, I get a notification for the first e-mail, then no notification for subsequent e-mails until I check/clear the notification.
I'd also like to see each e-mail in the notification area (versus grouping all new e-mails in one notification), if possible, with a preview or something (similar to how my blackberry handled it). But I'd be content with just a sound.
Is anyone else having issues with gmail notifications? I check my gmail and have emails from a day ago but no notifications have come through. Sync for each account is turned on and background data is turned on. I have factory reset twice and it has fixed nothing. Deleted all folders in my gmail accounts as well.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just switched from my old iPhone to an HTC EVO a week ago. I'm a heavy user of Google apps, including Gmail of course. My question is regarding notification options. On my iPhone, I liked that I could set up mail to only vibrate with a new message. With Android, it looks like there's a default notification sound you can set up in the "Sound and Display" phone settings. And while in the Gmail app, you can get more granular, specifying a different ringtone if you like and add vibe. But there's no option to vibe only! Am I missing something? Maybe something for a future update?

After that the notification still remains and I have to pull the slider down again to view it again. Then it clears it. Is the first one some type of preview that I can disable getting a notification for?
View 13 Replies View RelatedSo, I've searched for an answer but am not getting any where.. Here is my dilemma. When someone sends an email to my yahoo account, the phone vibrates and the led flashes. Perfect. But when someone sends an email to my Gmail account, I get the Notification sound, the vibration and the led flash. Not good, especially at 1 am when I am sleeping. I can not figure out why gmail is activating the notification sound and yahoo mail is not. (Probably something simple, and I am missing it...) I would greatly appreciate if someone can explain to me how to kill just the gmail notification sounds, without effecting any other notifications. Also, I have noticed that when I get a new message notification, I can open the widget on the main screen to read the email, and it shows read, but the task bar notification is still there, and when I drag it down, it shows the message is still unread. Any ideas.
