I currently have a phone based on mt6577 where I started to modify the kernel to improve performance but I have a big concern about the swap. I want to enable zram.I turn on when I swap it ends up freezing the system reboots instantly or with a random delay. Kernel 3.0, 4.0.4 ICS
I tried to create a swap file system, the result is the same.I have been looking for a while or could be the problem but without result.

I've had this phone long enough. It was cool compared to a dumb phone. But after a while, freezing, lag, phantom restarts, poor signal, and random switches have surpassed my patience.
I am going to switch to a Droid X. I heard good things. Few complaints. The HTC Inc. and Sam. Fascinate is nice but I'd rather not have a dead battery by noon everyday.
is it possible to use swap on a sd-ext partition? I started to use simple 2ext and I don't know if it's that possible.

I rooted My My micromax A87 with XDA and I was Succeeded in It, and then I Partitioned my SD Card into three,(FAT-32 + EXT 3 + Linux Swap) with Parition Mini Tool.then I Installed Link2SD and Swapper 2 its all fine but microsd is too slow to Link and Swap because its (Class 4).but it run the temple run and some HD Games with Small Lag.
So I Experimented with other swap tools like "MemoryInfo & Swapfile Check and ROEHSOFT RAM-EXPANDER (SWAP)"and then Uninstalled these. but there is the problem starts. Now in my A87 it shows a swap cache always on. I opened adb shell and look for free.
I wonder that there is a swap file generated around 50 MB but I cant see it in my External SD or Internal Memory.So I Removed my SD Card and then check again, Still I see the same swap value 50 MB.
My Internal memory has no change in the value (available space not reduced) it looks like the same value before I Install the MemoryInfo & Swapfile Check + ROEHSOFT RAM-EXPANDER (SWAP).
I would like to know why swap size when partitioning is 0mb usually.

I just took over a second hand chinese android phone which appears to have swap enabled already.
The following is on the phone with SD card installed or removed completely

Diskinfo reports it as zram0 [swap]
The value of swap changes continually, so swap is active.
There is no swapper or any other swap app installed. How do I go about finding out how the phone is configured and if necessary undoing what was done and reconfiguring if necessary ?

I found that lacking in memory so I tried to use swap partition and created 256 Linux swap partition on my SD card. But "free" commend still shows swap=0 However, I decided to use swapper 2. Still no effect and I couldn't get swap although swapper did its job without fail! After few days search I found that the kernel doesn't support the swap, So, I tried to use "Kernel.sin unpacked and added CWM options" form here. It also didn't work, neither "init.d zram scripts from wedgess" from the same page.

Camera needs storage0 (internal storage) to work properly for DCIM. But I have only storage1 (inserted microsd). In 2.3.6 swap sd was possible by editing vold.fstab. In Kitkat the opportunity has been denied.

I recently used a pendrive through otg to transfer a few movies to my device.
After that i noticed a few issues, whenever i connect the pendrive my ringtones and notifications turn to default inspite the tones placed in phone memory.
The dialer changed to this crappy one automatically (as attached in the screenshot).
The phone restarted 3-4 times in the last couple of days when trying to open the dialer.
Do i need a factory reset?
I have a rooted i9300 running slimbean 4.3.1.When i try to uninstall an app, my phone reboots itself.This also happened when i had stock rom.I have tried reflashing multiple times and it hasnt worked.

But the past few weeks it keeps freezing up I either have to just leave it alone for a few minutes or pull the battery. And then I leave it alone and it resets it's self when it comes back the time is always of by s few hours and most of my apps that I have on my sd card are not there. And it takes awhile for everything to go back to normal. What are my options? should I just do a factory reset? Or is there something else I can try. It is rooted but I don't think that had anything to do with it because this started well after I rooted. And since it is rooted is there anything I have to do before doing a factory rest.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having a weird issue where after I successfully rooted my Samsung Galaxy S3 (following a guide from androidcentral) every time my phone encounters an application force close, the phone will freeze up and eventually restart. Before rooting my phone, whenever an application would force close all I would get was a notification telling me <application name> had closed unexpectedly, as it should in Android. Now I'm not seeing that, phone just goes to black and then restarts. This wouldn't be a huge deal, but since I'm using it as a development platform, having your phone restart every time your application crashes takes a lot of time.
What's really weird is that Logcat will continue to scroll (in Eclipse) even after the phone is frozen to input (so its not a system wide lock up).
I downloaded Ditto Note 3 for my note 2, and i flashed it. It didn't work so whatever. After reading on the thread a little longer, it said i needed to flash a kernel. So after flashing ditto note 3 and the kernel i rebooted my phone to see that it was stuck on the Note 2 logo. I thought it was all fine until i booted into recovery mode to find that cwm would make my phone restart. I have backups of cm11 and stock touchwiz, can i flash them with odin? Can I go into my storage and take them out?

This amount was first determined by Android to be for the G1 which only had 126 MB of internal device available space. My question is, with Android phones having more available space ie: MyTouch 4g 4GB ROM and 512 MB RAM, should the available internal phone storage be higher than 25MB in order to run properly? It would seem to me that if the phone had more available internal phone storage, the available space needs to be proportionally greater to run properly.

Yesterday I bought my first android phone (LG Optimus 2x). Rooted it succesfully today and downloaded Bloat Freezer. I froze several applications successfully, but I think I went a step too far and froze somthing vital. Now my phone will not get past the intial 'StarHub' screen when turning on.
I have tried several things to try and fix this. I have tried unrooting the phone - this has not worked. I have also tried running the NVFlash and this has also yielded no results. I've tried the hard reset (holding volume keys when turning on) however it seems to freeze and nothing tends to happen.
My question therefore is, is it possible to defrost/unfreeze applications via computer?
I just recently rooted my phone(iball Andi 5c) which runs on android ics 4.0.3..Mainly to use the sd swapper so I can get more space for apps but I have seem to have made a mistake when I used some sd swapper app.As soon as I used it rebooted my phone.I thought it did what it was meant to do but instead both my ext sd card and usb storage disappeared... gone poof just like that. 1. Editing Vold.Fstab file, but it's impossible because it will not show internal Mount Point.
2. Searched on Play Store and downloaded "External 2 Internal" app and i have installed it, then i have swapped memory, but internal and external shows same values...

I Rooted and installed Busybox Installer. Well After that my Tablet Rested it self and now it going to factory Defaults each time I turn it on.
-Whenever the Tab restarts it just looses all settings and starts like it is started for the first time, with all those first time tips and default settings. Even all apps are gone.
-All Apps suddenly vanished (Were installed in internal memmory, no sdcard used)
-If we try to install the app again using google Play, then google play hangs, does not install the app.
- If we go into settings->storage, the first internal storage shows 0.00Bytes
I tried to do: Factory Reset the device, Hard Reset the device, Restart insanely several times
I do have ADD installed but I don't know how to switch busybox over from /system/xbin and find busybox. Move it to /system/bin I can't Install Apps
I am trying to login to the The Sun Mobile app however when i click on the password field the app restarts itself over and over.

The phone got waterlogged being in a backpack during a thunderstorm. The common "overnight-in-rice" remedy worked to dry the phone. On power up everything seemed fine except for one thing, the notification that says "Safe to remove SD Card". Upon further inspection it seems to be irrelevant to the real problem, as the sd card is still readable and writable by the phone.
The phone "freezes" after allowing the phone to sleep (locking not necessary for the problem to occur). After the screen goes off for more than a few seconds, then next wake action will turn on the screen but the system will not respond. Only hitting the power button seems turn off the screen. From that point onward, no key is responsive (screen will stay off). The cause seems to be caused by the following logcat message

waitForCondition(LockCondition) timed out (identity=67, status=0). CPU may be pegged. trying again.
This warning is spammed from the point of "freezing" untill I pull the battery. Also the following message seems to be an indicator as to why the phone won't wake again.

The problem is difficult to debug because I cannot debug it, literally. The problem only occurs while on battery power. Connecting the cable to a usb port stopping this problem from occuring.

-Airplane mode (to eliminate any communcation device as being the problem)
-Loaded an entirely different rom (Paranoid Android CM9 Based)
