View 1 RepliesI have the needs to have all instant messaging apps disabled at work. But I need data for other stuff on the android phone.
I have tried a few android firewall apps and while they all work flawlessly, there is one problem: NONE of them can stop the (Facebook) Messenger app from receiving messages.
does Android Firewall [URL] .....
has any battery drain ? I would like to block access to internet to some of my apps, but i read somewhere that LBE and other firewall like that is draining battery ..
I am interested in setting up a basic firewall using Droidwall scripts just a simple block inbound and allow outbound rules but I am not sure as how I would set this up instead of using the white/black list feature.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a firewall that allows setting rules for individual apps, for example allow an application to connect to [URL] and nothing else. The firewalls I've tested so far (like avast! Mobile Security) only allow the selected application to connect or not, but not filtering by url, domain, ip or such.
The only firewall I've heard of is WhisperMonitor, and is not public yet. Furthermore, it is supposed to require device encryption.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where to start in case one wants to write a firewall for Android? I am interested especially in how would one go about in blocking access for various applications that are blacklisted from a firewall application. As far as I could find, there are no firewall applications in the real sense except Droidwall which uses iptables on rooted phones, but I would like to see if there are any API calls currently in Android that may help with this task, be it NDK or SDK.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded the android 4.4 kitkat to my phone and I am having a problem with the hotspot.
On the 4.3 I have used my hotspot to play online games without any problem, but with the 4.4 it says that I have a firewall blocking it.
What should I do??? (By the way I took my sim card and put on my old phone that has android 4.3 and it worked normally, so its not a problem with my internet or service).
Anyone have a working firewall for the Htc Hero ? Ive tried a few but none seem to block private or unknown callers
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am looking for an app or a process to see what is using the data connection to send and pull random crap and be able to block things at the App level. I know I can just turn off Data altogether but I would like to still use the apps I WANT without needing to go and manually turn Data back on. Any ideas?
View 1 Replies View Relatedeasy way to use GCM (push message on Android for Gmail, Hangouts, etc.) behind a firewall?
The problem is not that companies want to block GCM, they are just unaware of the fact that their firewall is blocking it by default. GCM uses ports 5228, 5229 & 5230 which are almost always blocked on corporate networks. This means push messages don't come through. It also seriously screws with Hangouts (when I open the app random messages come though while others don't; this results in only being able to see parts of conversations).
Response from Google is to request the ports to be opened. This is not an option as I work as a consultant and move between clients. I can't get them all to open up the ports.
Google is seriously hampering the use of Android and Google services for professional use by using non-standard ports. I don't understand why they are not openly pushing for the ports to be opened by default or use standard ports (could also just be as a fallback if the preferred ports are blocked).I can't use Hangouts professionally now (which I would prefer over Skype).
Please point me at the best call manager, whitelist, firewall app that will let me add a specific number and then send them to voicemail.

The phone suddenly decided it would not turn on yesterday, and now when I plug it in to my computer while turned off and run the memory test on SP FlashTool, It says that the External Ram is not detected, and that the EMMC is not detected either. (I have flashtool as I used to mess around with other MTK's)

I can view the files via Astro File Manager, but the folder isnt even displayed on my Windows 7 computer?
I'm running a custom ROM (4.2.2) on an HTC Vivid. When I connect to my PC via usb, Windows only sees the internal storage, not the external sd card, and there's no way to navigate to the System partition to access.
When I was running the stock HTC ICS, Windows would mount the external card as a separate drive. I know the file system hierarchy is different with JB. Is this why it only sees the internal storage now?

Recently I started using 32GB card with my Micromax Canvas HD and everything is working only for when I try to connect my mobile to PC for file transfer via usb storage I can see only two drive one of CD drive of mmx and other internal sd drive and I can see one more drive but it is not mounted which is my external sd drive when clicked on it, it asked to enter disk.
Solution tried so far by me
1. I have erase external sd card in mobile itself.
2. Reset the entire phone.
3. Uninstalled the mmx driver on my PC and reinstalled it.
there is a way to pin all access music to an external SD. This is really the deciding factor for which I would pick up this phone.

export SECONDARY_STORAGE /storage/sdcard1
mkdir /storage 0775 system system[code]...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a question on how to get a external microphone to work on my Galaxy Nexus.

When I setup my A100 (running the ICS OTA update), I didn't have an SD card installed. It created it's own "fake" sdcard which applications use.
Now that I've added a real external sdcard, I can't get the applications to use that for their data instead of the "fake" location.
I've copied everything from the "fake" location to the new sdcard.
I suspect the problem is that the new, real sd card is called "external_sd" and the old, "fake" location is called "sdcard".
Do I need to reinstall those applications?
I am NOT trying to move applications to the external SD card; I just wants apps that normally store data there to do so instead of in the "fake" location.
Also, I am not rooted.
Basically what happens is any music on the external SD card will sometimes just disappear from my music app playlists. Most of the time it happens after unmounting/remounting the external SD. So I starting shutting off the phone every time I needed to remove the card. But it's happened at least once without unmounting the card.
I could put the music on the internal storage and not have a problem, but wanted to save that space for other things. So hoping to find a way to be able to restore the missing songs back to the playlists without having to manually remake them myself.
Is it possible to transfer music from the internal sd to an external sd on the ZTE Supreme? My daughter is getting error messages that she doesn't have enough memory to load more music, but her external sd card has about 29GB of space on it! Someone told me that I will have to erase everything on the phone and put the sd card and then reinstall everything. Is this true?
I did try getting the x-plore app to move the files, but I can't figure out how to use the app.
how to move the music and/or how to use the x-plore app
Want to use my Acer tablet for GPS in the car. Would like to plug in a USB camera into the USB port and run to the rear of the car to act as a "backup" camera or "see behind" camera. Have not found any apps in the Android markets that will work.
