View 9 RepliesWhile surfing around and not using ROM toolbox lite, there is a request of SuperSU which says that ROM Toolbox lite wants root privileges. Why does ROM toolbox lite always want root privileges and what will it do? I did not start anything on this app so what could it be?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased a AOSON M60 fabbed at foxconn a couple of weeks back, it claims to be pre-Rooted. From Item Description: "The machine has obtained permanent ROOT privileges, a great convenience to the user management system software and remove unwanted software."
I have tested this with the Root checker app and it fails reporting that the device isn't rooted. I have checked this with Titanium Backup and it also reports it's not rooted.
When i have checked this with SuperOneClick v 3.2.2 it says:
Checking if rooted... CheckIfRooted 0.14s True
Checking for shell root... CheckIfShellRooted 0.15s False
The application then stopps at Shell rooting device...-Step #7 WaitForDevice (This never completes)
From my simple understanding, the shell rooting is a one shot thing per boot, and isn't required if the device reports back that rooted=true.
I have downloaded shootme on my HTC Desire but when i try to install it gives me error that i need root privileges .. whats that?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWith a free sunday at my disposal, i thought i would try and sort my hero out as it has become super-laggy after the OTA 2.1 update (HTC hero locked to 3UK network, previously had 1.5).
So i've been trying to read as much as i can on this and other forums and got as far as installing Universal Androot, which reported success in rooting the phone.
However have now installed (and bought PRO ver) of Titanium Backup which refuses to recognize the root. It returns:
ERROR: Sorry, I could not acquire root privileges. This application will *not* work! Please verify that your ROM is rooted and includes BusyBox, and try again.
Yet, TB is listed as 'allowed' under SuperUser Permissions. And even weirder when the error dialogue box comes up sometimes a strapline flashes briefly across the screen 'Titanium backup has been granted .. permissions'. I take it that this is Superuser informing me.
So why doesn't Titanium recognize the root? Have tried re-starting and rerunning Androot (which reports that phone is already rooted, do you still wish to proceed). It's almost as if superuser isn't giving the OK fast enough or something.
Obviously don't want to start messing around with ROMs if i can't first backup my data!
So, I can't get to twrp because of fff. I was wondering if I can flash ROMs with root explorer or some other app I can just download directly to my kindle.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have new firmware on PC for my Samsung phone, intended for flashing with Odin (i have PHONE, CSC and PIT files). My question here is, is it possible to root this firmware before flashing it. The case is, my phone is now rooted and I don't want to loose root access, but I would like to flash this new firmware, cause with this one i have occasional problems (force close of apps, freezes, loosing wifi connection, etc). I've searched every where but haven't found anything. Only Mobile Odin have such options, but my phone is not supported yet.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI need to lend some tablets to some friends for testing an app. The problem is that I don't complete trust in them (or they are too smart or they aren't very familiar with digital products), so I'm afraid that they can make some trouble voluntarily or not.
I'm searching for something that can block the access to determinate applications of the tablet (for example: phone, settings or other installed apps) and the install of new app. Something like a limited user of the tablet, that allowed you to running only some default apps.
I've tried to test some apps that allow you to open the app just by entering a code or a sequence, but they aren't very safe. I always find a way to bypass them. Moreover this type of application don't block the install of new app. What can I do to create this sort of "Limited User"?
I flashed with "CWM-touch_i9082_chotu.tar.zip" and the the rooting as per this [URL] and it was successful.
But I installed font installer and gave access via superuser and after reboot, it dint turned on ( stuck on bootloader "Samsung")..
So I flashed SGG with stock rom via Odin and the phone got on, and again tried to flash "CWM-touch_i9082_chotu.tar.zip" but this time , i dint got the CWM. I am getting android system recovery instead on CWM... I cant root again!!
I tried flashing "CWM-touch_i9082_chotu.tar.zip" 3 time but only bin counter is rising.. i am getting android system recovery 3 <e> only...

View 2 Replies View Relatedjust got my 1st android device (HTC Hero) I got it in Taiwan so it has EN & CN. I tried installing compact QWERTY the install went well but I still cannot use compact QWERTY so I wanted to flash with a WWE ROM
I have rooted the device, did a backup, and can enter recovery mode.
I have also done MoDaCo unlocked SPL here
I also downloaded some untouched ROMs here but when I run the EXE I get a USB connection error.
Is my device now hard SPL (ala in WM where I can flash any ROM)?
I was rooted via toast. I flashed back to stock using the stock RUU. If I want to go back to a custom rom, I have to do the entire root process over, right?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I rooted a few days ago using Universal 1 Click Method and flashed Xxtrasense ROM immediately (in step 4 of the instructions below).
Step 1) download and install this APK:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8699733/erisone010.apk - VERSION 0.1.0
Step 2) Run, read disclaimer, press button
Step 3) Reboot, once rebooted your phone should have Amon's recovery. Yay.
Step 4) Use the recovery to flash rootme.zip that is now on your SDCard, or the custom rom of your choice.
Step 5) Go into settings, and turn usb debugging on. After you have root, please uninstall this app.
I want to try new ROMs and have read through a number of threads but its only confused me more on the next steps. Questions are:
1. Do I need to do a NAND or NAND+ext backup (I've done a NAND back up shortly after flashing the Xtrasense ROM)?
2. Is Titanium Backup the only way to get my Apps and data transferred to any new ROMs I flash?
3. At what point is a dalvik wipe required?
If someone is able to provide a step-by-step outline (similar to jcase's 1-click eris root noted above).
Do I have to install market apps 1 by 1 every time I flash a ROM? I rooted to Sapphire 0.7.0 a couple of days ago and had to install market apps 1 by 1. Is there a way t back just those apps up and somehow restore them after flashing a ROM?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI bought a Hero (CDMA) from a friend. Wasn't sure if I was going to keep it (bought it dirt cheap so was maybe going to resell it) but after playing around with it I decided to keep it. Rooted it, flashed in custom cyanogen ROM...set it up just the way I wanted it, all before activating the phone. LOL
So as I'm sure many of you know, you can't activate with a custom ROM. From what I've read in other forums, rooting doesn't matter when activating, it's all about the ROM. So I'll have to flash back to stock 2.1 to activate this thing. I called Sprint and played dumb but there was no way they could activate it apparently. Well, technically the phone is "activated" but can not be "programmed" for use with a custom ROM.
So will the flashback to stock 2.1 de-root? Or can I just back up my current ROM, flash to stock 2.1, activate and then simply reload my custom ROM?
Ever since I flashed a stock 2.2 rooted ROM from ROM Manager, I have been having some big time browsing issues.
Both my stock browser and Dolphin Browser HD are now terribly slow most of the time, despite being OC'ed to 1gHz and having plenty of signal. Both also have a hell of a time with scroll and pinch zoom gestures, often clicking links instead. Dolphin seems more troublesome in that regard though. Text entry is also terribly slow, again seemingly worse in Dolphin. And anytime I attempt to select text from a webpage to be copied to the clipboard, the stock browser crashes.
I've checked all my other apps, and none of them seem to have these problems. Text entry and scrolling are quick and responsive, and I've even FC'ed my other running programs to try to weed out a conflict.
I installed the Sprint 2.1 leak RUU and then rooted. Probably backwards, but everything has been working great for the past few days regardless. My problem is when I try to use something like Titanium Backup. I get a message saying that "busybox works but the "su" command does not elevate to root" It goes on to say my superuser whitelist system app does not work. I tried to install the superuser whitelist app from the market but it said it was incompatible with my phone. What can I do now to get Superuser privileges?

The device hardware is pretty awesome for the price, but I have problems
installing gApps as they are blocked on the phone.
I have attempted to root using Unlock Root "its supported?" but unsuccessful.
I have Novo 7 Elf ICS 4.0.3, adb is root, but when i try to SU in shell or use Root Check app on the device i got "permission denied", and all root application don't work (root explorer, etc ...).
Superuser is installed and running, but it seems that su doesn't launch Superuser at all. it just wait for 15 s and then "permission denied"
I've used Tasselhof-RootScript.
what i can do?
I've tried change su user/group and Superuser apk with no success.
Rom Manager tells me "Goophone i5 does not have an officially supported ClockworkMod Recovery yet. Have you installed a ClockWorkMod recovery manually?"... If I say Yes it asks me to confirm Version 2.x or 3.x+. I don't know if a CWM was installed manually. What should I do?
I can't see a recovery file on the SD card.
I was wondering if i can flash kyapat10mod3 using sgs kernel flasher on my SC-02B (SC02BOMLL1)? is it possible? I don't want to brick my phone.

Thought that the zip file was corrupted, so I tried to flash another rom: beats with smooth sense 6, the same problem occured. (Tried deleting clockworkmod floder from sd card).
My galaxy Ace is running under CM 7.2 with cwm recovery 5.0.2.6 . baseband:S5830XWKPA. kernel :the one that comes with cm.
Does flashing the ROM, removes the CWM ? Is CWM and ROM are inter related ? I'm using Xperia P and I installed CWM after alots of googling. Now planning to install MIUI in my Xperia P.
