View 1 RepliesWith a free sunday at my disposal, i thought i would try and sort my hero out as it has become super-laggy after the OTA 2.1 update (HTC hero locked to 3UK network, previously had 1.5).
So i've been trying to read as much as i can on this and other forums and got as far as installing Universal Androot, which reported success in rooting the phone.
However have now installed (and bought PRO ver) of Titanium Backup which refuses to recognize the root. It returns:
ERROR: Sorry, I could not acquire root privileges. This application will *not* work! Please verify that your ROM is rooted and includes BusyBox, and try again.
Yet, TB is listed as 'allowed' under SuperUser Permissions. And even weirder when the error dialogue box comes up sometimes a strapline flashes briefly across the screen 'Titanium backup has been granted .. permissions'. I take it that this is Superuser informing me.
So why doesn't Titanium recognize the root? Have tried re-starting and rerunning Androot (which reports that phone is already rooted, do you still wish to proceed). It's almost as if superuser isn't giving the OK fast enough or something.
Obviously don't want to start messing around with ROMs if i can't first backup my data!
Does flashing cwm need root privileges? And is flashing rom's safe too without root access? Micromax A87 . Ninja 4.0
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhile surfing around and not using ROM toolbox lite, there is a request of SuperSU which says that ROM Toolbox lite wants root privileges. Why does ROM toolbox lite always want root privileges and what will it do? I did not start anything on this app so what could it be?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased a AOSON M60 fabbed at foxconn a couple of weeks back, it claims to be pre-Rooted. From Item Description: "The machine has obtained permanent ROOT privileges, a great convenience to the user management system software and remove unwanted software."
I have tested this with the Root checker app and it fails reporting that the device isn't rooted. I have checked this with Titanium Backup and it also reports it's not rooted.
When i have checked this with SuperOneClick v 3.2.2 it says:
Checking if rooted... CheckIfRooted 0.14s True
Checking for shell root... CheckIfShellRooted 0.15s False
The application then stopps at Shell rooting device...-Step #7 WaitForDevice (This never completes)
From my simple understanding, the shell rooting is a one shot thing per boot, and isn't required if the device reports back that rooted=true.
I've decided to try to Root for first time. At first it all worked amazingly. I used the:
DJDroid_v1.6.zip OS and
32.48.00.32U_5.11.05.14.zip radio file
A day later, I try to use my phone, swipe down, and get 100 messages saying:
"Sorry! The application com.android.phone has stopped working unexpectedly. Please try again."
I click: Force close, or Report, and another 100 messages pop up.In order to get out of this, I have to take out the battery. The only way for me to make the phone usable again is to re-flash the OS (Good thing i kept all the files on the SD card). I've had to do this 5x in the past 3 days.I'm wondering if it's just the ROM I used, or if I have a virus or something (i assume they exist for the android OS). I haven't formatted my SD card even the first time that I rooted. Think that could be an issue?
I have s-offed and installed amon ra 2.0.1 on my htc desire. Now,when I try and flash a rom it comes up with an error saying missing files,But I have tried 3 different roms.
I have done all the usuall, wiping cache etc. It is a pvt4,hboot is now 6.93.1002.
I am trying to route my HTC Hero (locked to Orange UK).Following jUsT2eXy's instructions :-
1)Download it.
2)Save it to your SD Card ROOT (not in any folders)
3)Open up a file manager on your phone (Download ASTRO File Manager from the marketplace..if you don't have a file manager..)
4)Find the 'InstantRoot.apk' file.
5)Run it.
6)It will say it's been successful
Ok, so on step 4, I am opening ASTRO, clicking InstantRoot, clicking Open App Manager (other displayed option is Browse file), clicking Install (then Install again). It then displays 'Application installed'. However, I get a notification stating 'Install Root failed / Root access was not acquired'. What am I doing wrong? More info if required Firmware = 1.5

I had ShootMe running, but later when I shook my phone it didn't take a screen shot, so when I went back to it, I saw that I had to re-open it. Does Android keep closing it after a while?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI installed the Sprint 2.1 leak RUU and then rooted. Probably backwards, but everything has been working great for the past few days regardless. My problem is when I try to use something like Titanium Backup. I get a message saying that "busybox works but the "su" command does not elevate to root" It goes on to say my superuser whitelist system app does not work. I tried to install the superuser whitelist app from the market but it said it was incompatible with my phone. What can I do now to get Superuser privileges?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI need to lend some tablets to some friends for testing an app. The problem is that I don't complete trust in them (or they are too smart or they aren't very familiar with digital products), so I'm afraid that they can make some trouble voluntarily or not.
I'm searching for something that can block the access to determinate applications of the tablet (for example: phone, settings or other installed apps) and the install of new app. Something like a limited user of the tablet, that allowed you to running only some default apps.
I've tried to test some apps that allow you to open the app just by entering a code or a sequence, but they aren't very safe. I always find a way to bypass them. Moreover this type of application don't block the install of new app. What can I do to create this sort of "Limited User"?
Any way to block my son's phone from calling or texting specific phone numbers? I want him to be able to add phone numbers and contacts, but be unable to call or text a couple of specific phone #s. Is there a way to do this? I have Verizon but their number blocking service only works for incoming calls, not for outgoing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got my Desire for 3 months now. I realy think that I have done the best phone choice of my life. But now after installing/uninstalling/testing many apps I have capacity problems with internal memory. I'm using the method of installing apps directly to the SD. But I always have the low on space notification on my task bar. 75% of what I have installed is on my sd. The rest 25% is HTC Sense apps. My Desire runs on stock froyo and combined with htc sense I have the feeling of perfection while using my phone. Everything run smoothly. No complaints.
So what are my options here? Root? I suppose that I will have to erase everything on my phone memory so I would have more space. If this is the case then I have to ask for your suggestions. a) I will have to stick with launcherpro and I dont like it. No htc sense on non stock froyo right? b) I have many security and privacy concerns for using those roms that some groups have developed. Are they stable as atleast stock froyo? Are they safe? Is there a good phone resources administration? omg 12 mb for adobe flash player on my memory?

So I think I rooted fine. I used this link and it seemed to go great. Said done, etc.How To: Root the HTC Evo 4G (Unrevoked Method) | TheUnlockr Now, for the NAND, I'm using this link: How To: Unlock NAND on the HTC Evo 4G | TheUnlockr This is where my issues start to occur. Step 10 my phone detects the PC36IMG file and does it's thing but then says it failed because the main version is older?? So I reboot the phone and try to do the rest of the steps and on step 13 I get an error after hitting enter on the recovery.img line (last line in the shell) stating that there is no more space (I'm assuming on my SD card? I have a 32GB card). Can someone help me? My phone seems to be working fine even after these errors, but obviously I can't get rid of NAND (what I need to do in order to remove the sprint apps?).
I have created my gold card, copied the rootedupdate.zip to the root of my SD card. Switched the phone off, hold down the back button and switch on. i then go through the process of updating the ROM , it gets the point of updating the signature and then i get a message: Error[131]:CUSTOMER ID ERROR

View 5 Replies View RelatedAlright, so I'm trying to root and I've managed to get adb shell to work in recovery but when I try to push any of the files I get a permission denied error and nothing can push to it. Has anyone else had this issue or know what I'm doing wrong?
View 28 Replies View Related1. Is there a way to use the internal storage of the phone while rooted. Right now I am using 1.83 GB out of 1.83 GB data on my SD card and nothing on my internal memory. 2. When I was Stock I would delete all files on the SD card and the Internal Memory before re-formatting and doing a factory re-set so I made sure that only data that was needed was on the phone after the re-set. I am afraid to do this with the rooted phone because I know I placed files on their in order to be rooted. I am wondering what Files I can delete. 3. With the Text messages I am getting on MIUI. The time is incorrect. It is never the same. I got a text this am at 8:15 and then the next response I got said 4:13 am. The issue is then it moves the text behind other texts I have got since 4:13.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got an HTC Desire that was locked to Telus (Canadian Carrier). I have read that numerous people are using it on Rogers network. From the day I got it when I put my rogers sim card in (the right way) it said "No SIM card in phone" so I could not enter an unlock code. Thinking the SIM was defective went to Telus and tried one of their sim cards and it worked fine, then I went to Rogers thinking it was a problematic card. We tried 4 cards and none of them worked. I then went to Bell (another canadian carrier) and tried their sim card. It worked as well but said that the phone was locked. I purchased an unlock code from the internet which worked. Now the Bell sim card works as well becuase the phone is unlocked. I put my Rogers SIM back into it and it still sais "No SIM card in phone". I also tried a SIM from a european company and it did not work as well. This HTC Desire works on the same 3G 850/1900 GSM that Rogers uses.

I am trying to root my Hero by following the guides that are provided in this forum. When I enter the following command I am getting an error.
C:android-sdk-windows ools>adb devices
'adb' is not a recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file
I am sure I am doing something wrong. Any suggestions would be helpful. I did download the .6 update and reverted back to the .5 version.
I have bought Ampe A10 i try to root it. I have run LiveSuit and try more of ***.img files. Everytime it stops at 3%. Well i was a little bit nervous soo i add (probably) not good firmware (it was SANEI_N90_0208(2012-08-27) ->0208.img) And it has upgraded. But now i have a problem. When i turn ON tablet it just flickers 3-4 times i see desktop like this:
And thats all. I can't do anything more. If i hard reset tablet than try to press Vol + or - and try to run again LiveSuit - it doesnt go.Buttons don't work and it stops here everyhing.
I have tried rooting using both the Regaw method and using the writeup from CCapasso. Using the Regaw method after Step 3 I get the error msg "cannot stat 'unrevoked': No such file or directory. Using the CCappasso method after Step 6 I get the msg: [1]killed/data/local/asroot2/system/bin/sh.
I have downloaded the files and have them in C: drive
I have turned on debugging
I have unmounted the SD card
I have installed HTC Sync
I have phone on "charge only" when hooked to the computer
