General :: Disabling Stock Keyboard?

Nov 13, 2013

I've recently rooted and am looking at getting rid of that irratating 'Choose input method' in the notification bar every time I type something.

I use Swype and the other options are Google Voice Typing (which I can untick) but Samsung Keyboard is greyed out, meaning that every time I type something I get the choice of Swype or Samsung Keyboard.

I've frozen the Samsung keyboard and now I don't get the notification and also Swype starts up quicker. Good so far. The thing is, I'm wondering if when I restart my phone my PIN lock screen uses the Samsung Keyboard, in which case I won't be able to enter my PIN. (I've disabled my PIN for the time being as I'm too scared to find out!)

HTC Droid Eris :: Disabling The Android Keyboard

May 6, 2010

I d/l the Shapewriter Keyboard so I can swipe while texting, but I need to disable the Android keyboard for it to work. The problem is that I can't find where to disable it.

I am using Android 1.5 and I read on a post that I need to go through Settings/Locale & Text and there should be an option to disable the Android Keyboard, but there isn't. Even after I install the Shapewriter Keyboard the only keyboard showing is the default.

General :: HTC One X - How To Freeze Stock Keyboard

Nov 14, 2013

I'm experiencing a problem with SwiftKey - the stock keyboard always shows up as the default after every boot, even though SwiftKey is enabled in settings. I read somewhere that a workaround is to freeze the stock keyboard using Titanium, and convert the SwiftKey app to a systems app. So my question is, how do I do that?

(One X, ARHD 31.3)

I know I can long-click on the correct entry in Titanium's App list to freeze an app, but specifically, what app name do I need to look for (is it Keyboard_english.apk?)

And how do I convert SwiftKey to a system app? I'm not even sure what this means. Do I just have to ensure it's located on internal storage (not SD card)?

General :: Stock Android Keyboard - Switch To Numpad

Feb 27, 2013

Is it possible, while typing with the stock android keyboard (Jelly Bean) to switch to the Numpad? I've uploaded two pictures to make things clear. the normal android keyboard. In the second one you see the numpad, but which only occurs if the text field only allows numerical input. What I want is to switch from the normal keyboard to the numerical one.

Example: I am writing a note (in my fav. note app) or a sms. In this note/sms I type some longer Numbers (wlan-key, phone number, birthday... you name it). This is when I want to switch to the numpad, because I cannot describe how much I hate to input numbers when they are not in a 3x3 grid (like a numpad).

In the stock Android Keyboard, when I press the number button (bottom left) the numbers appear in a ROW on the top. I honestly don't get how people can type numbers with this. I want to keep this kind of short

Swype has this feature: either hold the numbers key next to the swype button. Or swype from the swype-key to the t and the numpad appears. Really nice!

this is possible for the Android keyboard.I tried a lot of different keyboards and only swype had both: swype input and numpad. I think a numpad for numerical input is the best way to go.

General :: Galaxy S III - Change Font Of Stock Android 4.2.2 Keyboard

Jun 13, 2013

I have a Galaxy S III [International Version] and I'm running Paranoid Android [Based on CM 10.1]

I have busybox installed as well as root access.

I want to change the font of the Stock Android 4.2.2 keyboard and the default bold font of all the widgets on the launcher homescreen.

I have no clue which font maps to which so I simply went to Font Installer's preferences menu and selected any font with a "-bold" suffix to be replaced. All I ended up with was a boot loop.

Or is there something in addition to this that I should be doing before attempting a reboot? And what font am I actually supposed to change?

I am having a problem with the stock keyboard on my Eris. I don't really like the HTC keyboard so I installed the vanilla keyboard and switched defaults and whatnot. However, some apps (like "setup" for example) switch it back to the HTC keyboard and then I have to go back into HTC Sense and switch it and everything which is a pain. I know that the easy answer is "don't use those apps" though I really just want a permanent fix for it. Anyway to do this?

I would like to re install it again but only if there is a way to disable data when Im not using it. The only thing I see is to go into system settings, data usage, and then either go to a specific app and Restrict background data or Turn Off mobile data. The past few weeks I have been turning off mobile data when not using. I have went into some of my apps settings and unchecked notifications, etc., but that doesnt seem to really save data.

I've been trying to search around but I'm not coming up with anything Is this possible to do?I miss being able to long-press a key to get its "shift" key (numbers, symbols, etc) instead of having to press the 123 key to switch layouts every time.I also liked how the "click" sound wasn't as loud as the typewriter-like sound on the non-Sense keyboard yes I like to have the sound and vibrate on - makes it feel like more of a button press instead of nothing I tried Swype before and still ended up going back to the HTC keyboard before I rooted. Are there any similar options? (or can I find the HTC keyboard apk anywhere??)

HTC Incredible :: Revert To Stock Keyboard From Sense?

2. I'm just not a fan of the long press on letters to access symbols/numbers.

Maybe I'm spoiled by the Droid but can you swap the text input to the standard keyboard?
