General :: Nexus 4 - Remove Word From Stock Keyboard?

May 3, 2013

I want to remove the word 'yo' from the keyboard because I don't use 'yo' and I hate whenever it accidentally autocorrects to 'yo' when I type in 'you'.

I know how to add words to the dictionary, but I can't seem to find the option to delete pre-inserted words from the keyboard.

General :: LG Nexus 4 - Remove Smiley Key From Default Keyboard

Feb 22, 2013

I am using an LG Nexus 4 device with the stock Android keyboard. When texting, composing e-mails, or engaging in most functions with a keyboard, there is a smiley key on the bottom left corner next to the period. Is there any way to remove or change that key?

I use the period often, and sometimes hit that smiley key by accident. A few times in the last week, I sent serious messages and, instead of ending the sentence with a period, I ended it with a smiley. Those made for awkward moments.

By the way, I have tried Swype and SwiftKey and prefer the Android keyboard with gesture-typing. I am not interested in installing an app with a supposedly better keyboard.

General :: How To Remove Voicemail Notification On Galaxy Nexus With Stock ICS - Unrooted

Jun 26, 2012

remove a voicemail notification on my Galaxy Nexus with stock ICS, unrooted.

Here's the catch: the voicemail message has a registered phone number (the carrier's voicemail number). However, the carrier changed this number, so if I try to access the voicemail through the notification, the number doesn't exist anymore. Accessing the new number does not remove the notification.

Is there a way to change this?

Already tried clearing phone app data with no luck.

Android :: How To Remove QuickOffice / Set Word To Go As Default?

Mar 9, 2010

I just bought Documents to Go, and so far love the actual program. One issue though, which I think may have more to do with the Android OS, is setting Documents to Go as the default fro opening Word/Excel/PDF/PPT files. When I try to open a Word Document (using ASTRO, DroidBox, or anything else) it asks me what app to use. The list has "Documents to Go" and "QuickOffice". If I pick "Word to Go", and tell it to use that as the default, it works. However if I then try to open a different file type (say an Excel file) it attempts to open it with Word to Go and obviously gives an error about it being the wrong/unsupported file. If I remove Word to Go as the default handler, I can then go back to the Excel file, attempt to open it, and select Sheets to Go, it works. So, first, how do I remove QuickOffice as an option (it shows up under Manage Apps, but there is no option to remove it)? Second, how do I set Word to Go as the default for .doc/.docx file types, Sheets to Go the default for .xls/.xlsx?

Samsung Fascinate :: Can't Get Keyboard And Word Prediction - Using Back On SF

Nov 23, 2010

At some point early on in my SF ownership, I accidentally pushed something that gave me a keyboard and word prediction that I like SO MUCH more than the little black box word prediction with Swype. I didn't download a 3rd party keyboard or anything. Problem is, I've somehow hit something again that has brought the black box popup word prediction and a different keyboard back. I've messed with every combination I can think of in Language and Keyboard, but can't seem to get the other keyboard back.

The keyboard I currently have is the one that has the letters and symbols on the same key. The one I like has just the letters on the keys and a symbol button to push to get just the symbols. The word recognition I want has a bar right about where you type that gives you suggestions and you can touch the suggestion you want and it will insert (it has the most likely suggestion in red, I think).

I make so many more typing mistakes with the black box prediction/current keyboard. Can someone tell me how to get the other way back?

Is there anyway to remove that? i will attach screenshot. If I'm changing the Design to any other Theme like "holo glass" it works fine...no overlay, nothing. So there should be a way by decompiling SystemUI or something?

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: 2.1 Android Keyboard Proper Name Word Suggestions

Nov 29, 2010

When I was using my x10 when it was only 1.6, when you typed a letter using the android keyboard, it would give multiple word suggestions (ie. i - is, it, in, etc.) which helped a lot. But with 2.1, if I turn it's word suggestions, it only provides me with proper names or contact names. Any way to allow 2.1 to use word suggestions other than these proper/contact names? I don't like the default keyboard. Can no one help? I don't think I'm the only one with this problem.

General :: Disabling Stock Keyboard?

Nov 13, 2013

I've recently rooted and am looking at getting rid of that irratating 'Choose input method' in the notification bar every time I type something.

I use Swype and the other options are Google Voice Typing (which I can untick) but Samsung Keyboard is greyed out, meaning that every time I type something I get the choice of Swype or Samsung Keyboard.

I've frozen the Samsung keyboard and now I don't get the notification and also Swype starts up quicker. Good so far. The thing is, I'm wondering if when I restart my phone my PIN lock screen uses the Samsung Keyboard, in which case I won't be able to enter my PIN. (I've disabled my PIN for the time being as I'm too scared to find out!)

General :: HTC One X - How To Freeze Stock Keyboard

Nov 14, 2013

I'm experiencing a problem with SwiftKey - the stock keyboard always shows up as the default after every boot, even though SwiftKey is enabled in settings. I read somewhere that a workaround is to freeze the stock keyboard using Titanium, and convert the SwiftKey app to a systems app. So my question is, how do I do that?

(One X, ARHD 31.3)

I know I can long-click on the correct entry in Titanium's App list to freeze an app, but specifically, what app name do I need to look for (is it Keyboard_english.apk?)

And how do I convert SwiftKey to a system app? I'm not even sure what this means. Do I just have to ensure it's located on internal storage (not SD card)?

Jun 28, 2012

I have a rooted Nexus S with Cyanogen 7.1.0.1 and I'm trying to get it back to stock. but the problem is that my phone won't recognize that it's being plugged into my PC. I have tried reinstalling the drivers and I have tried different USB ports and USB cables. Nothing seems to work. I have also tried restoring to an old backup I did months ago when there was nothing on the phone and it still won't recognize it.

Sometimes, very randomly, the PC will recognize that I've plugged in a device but it will automatically say that the drivers could not be installed.

Sep 15, 2012

Running a Galaxy Nexus on Stock 4.1.1 (rooted).Last week, Play Store randomly started giving me the DF-BPA-09 Error when I wanted to download new apps. Old apps would update fine. I searched XDA and found that turning Google Sync Off and restarting the phone solved it. It worked once or twice, but the problem kept coming back.

Then read another thread that said go to All Apps > Play Store >Uninstall Updates and Clear Data. I did this, and now when I start Play Store, it permenantly gives me 'Server Error', with a Retry Button below it.I have Titanium Backup Pro, so tried restoring an older version, tried Freezing and Unfreezing the App, still not working.

DF-BPA-09 Error used to come, Cleared Play Store Data and now stuck at Server Error.
