I tried to download a gaaps file and I think it was the wrong one because I ended up completely deleting my OS. The battery fell out and now I'm unable to get into recovery mode. I can get into odin mode, though.My computer doesn't recognize the device when I plug it in, either.

When I computer either a) the drive doesn't show in my computer or b) the drive shows up for a minute but then crashes with no warning. I just got my Hero so I'm trying to transfer music from the computer to the phone but am unable to do this if I can't access the SD card. any suggestions?

Some of you are probably already searching for drivers. Ya I already went through that freak out when I got my Vibrant. Okay, to mount your phone, and have your computer recognize the internal/external memory, do this:Connect your phone to your computer via USB. Give it a few seconds.Next, PULL DOWN your notification bar. Next, tap your finger on "USB CONNECTED"You then get a message asking if you would like to mount. Tap "mount" confirming you would like to do so.Enjoy, your computer should now recognize the internal/external memory.BTW, reverse this process before pulling the usb cable out. Always remove a cable safely, otherwise the data can get corrupt. Don't just yank your cable out.Edit: some of you may also find the following useful. Hopefully the Epic is similar to the Vibrant in these setting

I have tried so many things like: "mount and unmount" the SD card and the internal memory, also i have tried the USB debugging, i hava also tried the kies option on the phone, and nothing.. i have all the Samsung USB Drivers (version V.1.3.450.0) i have downloaded the kies program and the kies mini and they haven't work... what am i missing??? can anyone help me? But the computer doesn't recognize the phone at all. It could be a problem with my computer, but I'm checking here in case I just can't find the option on the phone to "allow USB connection" or something.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI use Windows 7, received my Vibrant a few weeks ago and have been having a great time, but my phone doesn't mount! It mounted the very first time but after making a potential mistake, it stopped. Here's what happened: Yesterday I installed several apps (Beautiful Widgets, WidgetLocker, just for reference), and for the first time since receiving my handheld, wanted to add some files to it via my pc. I connected my Android as usual only to find that while both the phone & sd card were recognized on my computer, both contained no records, which was obviously a glitch.
I then tried unmounting my phone, and screwed up by selecting for my phone to be a media device rather than mass storage. Windows began searching for the device drivers, was unable to find them, and gave the message: "device driver software was not successfully installed." And now, whether mounted or not, windows no longer recognizes my phone's storage. My Android however, has no problems going from mounted to unmounted. However, I have tried connecting my phone to two other computers and none recognize my device.
I plugged my Droid X into my computer to try and transfer a video I took today. It came up with a Motorola "CD ROM" drive. I clicked the setup file, installed it, then switched my phone to USB Storage. Windows tried installing the drivers and said there was an error. Now when I connect my phone to the computer nothing happens besides windows saying theres an unknown device.

Sometimes it will come up as an Android Phone and list the normal drivers but that goes away and turns into an Unknown USB Device with no drivers in about 10 seconds. After I got the phone off Download Mode, the phone sometimes doesn't charge, it keeps on thinking it's connected to a dock or a MHL device, and of course it won't get recognized by a computer. i planned on putting CyanogenMod on it, after I heard that the 4.2.2 rom went to a stabl status, Odin doesn't detect the phone is in Download Mode either.there is absolutely no thread for the SGH-i717.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy problem is my computer stopped recognizing my tablet as a removable device through the USB cable. I've tried every solution, like going into device manager uninstalling all the usb drives etc... I even downloaded a program to see all the usb connections. Still nothing. There is no problem with my USB ports because I can charge my tablet through USB but my PC just doesn't pick it up. I've changed the MTP and PTP settings as well.
I'm pretty sure it started after I paired my tablet to PC over bluetooth. I think that's what caused the problem. Maybe my PC want's bluetooth to trump the USB connection (even with bluetooth turned off on my device)? I tried google searching but I'm not having much luck.
I tried my wifes laptop and hers picks it up, so I've narrowed the problem to my PC.

I go in to send an email to the group and it had them all set up for me nice and neatly. Then it asks me for an account and gmail isnt even an option.
I really dont want to have to add my gmail account under the email accounts section then id have two email apps if you know what i mean.
Do most people use The gmail app or just the email app?

When I plug my phone into my computer, I don't get anything, either on the phone or on the computer, except that the phone does start charging. I get no "start USB service" or whatever option in the phone and the phone does not show up as a drive. Nothing, nada, zilch, zero. I can use ADB shell, but Smart phone flash tool does not recognize phone, MTK droid tool recognizes it, but I can't backup it.
Basically, I'm unable to make a briefcase folder on my phone's SD card. I can make new folders, but I don't get the range of options that you would normally get when hovering your cursor over the "New" option (when opening the "New" context menu) when accessing my SD card via a usb cable plugged into the phone; I'm actually able to get the context menu when accessing the SD card by sticking it straight into the computer, but when it remains in my phone (and the phone's hooked up to the computer), I don't get the context menu.
Here's what I want:
Obviously, I can just use the SD card by plugging it directly into the computer, but it's inconvenient to take off the case, remove the back, etc. I'd rather just plug a USB cable directly into the phone. Why is my phone preventing me from getting that context menu when doing so though?

My EVO is acting up. It was working fine one day, I could take pictures, listen to music on my SD card, etc, but then out of nowhere, the phone does not see the SD card. The phone says "Removed SD card. SD card removed. Insert a new one." I have tried removing the SD card, then starting the phone without the SD card, then putting the SD card back in, but it still doesn't recognize the card. I cannot mount the phone as disk drive in my computer (I do not even have the option). Has this happened to anybody else? Does anybody know what I can do to fix this?
