View 1 RepliesI pressed hime, down key, and power to boot into the recovery console on my virgin mobile Optimus V. Looked around and told the phone to reboot when I didn't see what I was looking for. Phone was rooted previously using Gingerbreak.APK v1.20 After reboot phone was no longer rooted? Also programs and such were deleted, but super user app remained. Downloaded and installed gingerbreak again. Fire it up and I get a big, fat, steamy pile of "Could Not Extract Assets!" error message. Tried a couple of fixes I saw on the developers site, but nothing seems to be working for me. How to get my phone rooted again. I have Terminal Emulator on my phone, or I can do it through my computer's cmd window. Either way works for me. I've been sifting through and trying all kinds of stuff for the last 5 days.

Would I just be able to use a Custom ROM for a phone which has similar specs to the HS-U909 or would that essentially make the phone a paperwieght?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Ginger Villain 3.3 (16-10) on a HTC desire and I've had some rather odd incidents with the Danish dictionary.
Is it possible to update it to a working version? EG:
I tried to write "spiser" (eat) but it suggested "spiser r" (Sophagus)
When I wrote "klokken" (at) it suggested klokkesl t" (time)
It changes simple every day words into complicated - rarely used words.
I used this to try to root. How to Root DROID X Running Official Android 2.2 - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog and well when I hook up my phone to my computer its telling me that it can install the driver. (Its never done this before when I had 2.1) the SDK program wont even do screen shots for me so thats the main reason I am trying to root. I know thats a dumb reason but still. I know this isn't much info but its all I got for you. I did run the root program and it said my phone is now rooted and no errors occurred. I know its not rooted cause the screen shot applications are not working on my phone.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAlright, I've browsed the site a bit and have been lurking for a couple weeks now. I also did some google searching that wasn't entirely helpful. I'm looking to root my Droid currently running the OTA Froyo update, but I'm unable to find instructions for doing this with a Mac. Buying the Easy Root key is kind of out of the question ($0.78 in the checking account - college is great), so I'm turning to your infinite wisdom for help. I'm basically looking for a sequence of steps/the links and downloads I will need. Has anyone else already done this? I'm new to the rooting concept, but it sounds like it's worth it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have s-offed and installed amon ra 2.0.1 on my htc desire. Now,when I try and flash a rom it comes up with an error saying missing files,But I have tried 3 different roms.
I have done all the usuall, wiping cache etc. It is a pvt4,hboot is now 6.93.1002.
I have a problem with bluetooth connections:
I'm using a HTC Desire, rooted and flashed with a ROM from Alex-V Android Version 2.3.3 with the 2.6.35.8 Kernel.
I have two bluetooth devices:
MM100 Stereo Headset from Sennheiser
BT-Version: 2.0 + EDR
Protocolls: HSP, HFP, A2ADP, AVRCP
and the Hands free car kit Parrot MK6000 BT-Version: 1.2 Protocolls: HSP, HFP, AADP, AVRCP
I can pair both devices with my Desire and the latest paired device would connect automatically to audiosystem for media and telefone when switched on. The problem is, that the first paired device would not connect automatically to my desire and when it is connected manually it would only connect to the audiosystem for media not telefone. I can't force it to connect with audiosystem for telefone. I checked and un-checked the check-boxes for both connections in every combination
Remark: I don't want to connect both devices at the same time. I know that this is not working
With the original HTC Rom I doesn't had this problem. Both devices would pair and connect perfect.
I JAIL BROKE MY IPHONE NO PROBLEM, I MADE THE MISTAKE OF PUTTING THE 2.2 FRG22D ON MY DROID BEFORE I FIGURED OUT YOU COULD ROOT IT. I'VE TRIED THE UNIVERSAL ROOT AND EASY ROOT, IVE EVEN TRIED THE RSD LIGHT AND CANT GET ANYTHING TO WORK.......
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm a Nexus One user so already using froyo and of course stoked with it.Given that the phone is already superfast and tethering works, is there any real benefit to root, and / or custom ROMs?Previous to froyo the main motivation for custom rom would have been tethering but thats now moot. I am happy with stock android UI and wouldn't bother for just ui tweaks. I am interested however in possibility of getting better battery life, but am leery of losing the comfortable convenience of OTA stock updates. One of the reasons I picked an N1 at the time was that I knew I'd be getting 2.1 and 2.2 before any other model also side question, when you go custom rom and do a backup before flashing, does restoring the backup literally restore everything (apps, data, settings etc.) completely? i.e. everything remains in exactly the right place, your apps are all 100% intact, gmail/contacts/exchange/sms etc. all there etc.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got my Desire for 3 months now. I realy think that I have done the best phone choice of my life. But now after installing/uninstalling/testing many apps I have capacity problems with internal memory. I'm using the method of installing apps directly to the SD. But I always have the low on space notification on my task bar. 75% of what I have installed is on my sd. The rest 25% is HTC Sense apps. My Desire runs on stock froyo and combined with htc sense I have the feeling of perfection while using my phone. Everything run smoothly. No complaints.
So what are my options here? Root? I suppose that I will have to erase everything on my phone memory so I would have more space. If this is the case then I have to ask for your suggestions. a) I will have to stick with launcherpro and I dont like it. No htc sense on non stock froyo right? b) I have many security and privacy concerns for using those roms that some groups have developed. Are they stable as atleast stock froyo? Are they safe? Is there a good phone resources administration? omg 12 mb for adobe flash player on my memory?
