I'm running Ginger Villain 3.3 (16-10) on a HTC desire and I've had some rather odd incidents with the Danish dictionary.
Is it possible to update it to a working version? EG:
I tried to write "spiser" (eat) but it suggested "spiser r" (Sophagus)
When I wrote "klokken" (at) it suggested klokkesl t" (time)
It changes simple every day words into complicated - rarely used words.

I have an HTC Incredible 2 running Cyanogenmod. I was wondering what the difference is (if any) between the wifi Only script that uses radiooptions 1 and turning off the cell radio through the info options.
When I use the Wifi Only script, I get a high percentage of Cell Standby (even if the battery info is cleared). Whereas if I use the Info method, I get Phone Idle and Wi-Fi as a high percentage. As far as battery usage, I haven't really done a test to see if there seems to be a difference - my PERCEPTION is that the battery usage is better going the info route, but cannot be sure on that. If that were the case for sure, i'd be interested to know if there were a way to script that method.

I have Android 2.2 from a Car radio.
I want to edit the files inside it. But I don't know how to do it.
These are the files inside the ROM:
Quote:
_MACOSX (folder with nothing inside)
Optional Apps (folder)
> os.tools.scriptmanager-2.apk
> ru.org.amip.ClockSync-1.apk
> Tasker.1.3.3u2.apk
flash_uboot.bin
Installation Instructions.txt (just some instructions on how to install the rom)
MLO (no file extension)
ubi.img
u-boot.bin
uImage (no file extension)
x-load.bin.ift_for_NAND (no file extension)
I want to know where I can find the updater-script to change something in there and also the two files android-logo-mask.png and wallpaper_electric.png
I also want to know how to extract the files.

Is there a way I can get access to the following information from the cell. I know that it uses a Qualcomm MSM7201A chip. I know qualcomm unleashes a boat load of information such as: Pilots-Channels PN offset Neighbours Searches PN Codes Power Control-TX and RX Slot DRC Signal Noise Ratio Carrier to Noise Ratio Energy to Noise Ratio
So the question is can I get access to all this information and are there APIs from Android that I can use.
So far the closets I have come is in telephony/PhoneStateListener telephony/NeighboringCellInfo telephony/CellLocation telephony/TelephonyManager

I was looking at the phone info, found by dialing *#*#4636#*#* one button in this is "Turn off radio".I'm interested to know if this could be used to work around the current inability to do airplane mode and enable wifi at the same time on the Eris. Could you use this option to turn off the radio, disable mobile network, and then enable wifi?Has anyone seen if this works, and if turning the radio on and off is as easy as finding this button? I'm a bit afraid to try it myself right now.

I have found that if I am trying to run Eclipse with the G1 connected (vis USB), logcat will only output info from programs running on the phone - not when I run code on the emulator. If I disconnect the phone and then run the emulator version, logcat provides the desired output.
I also have now discovered that if I connect the G1, the SD Card on the emulator shows the contents of the G1 SD Card, whether I am running code on the emulator or the phone. This was a little confusing as I expected the AVD to control the SD Card when I run a virtual version, not the attached 'real' phone.

I have a Hisense HS-U909 running Android 4.0 which I'm attempting to root. However I can't seem to find any Custom ROM's which support the HS-U909. Would I just be able to use a Custom ROM for a phone which has similar specs to the HS-U909 or would that essentially make the phone a paperwieght?

We have a info bar at the bottom of the following menu: Settings > Applications > Running Services
Avail: XXXMB+X.XXB in XYZ_____________________Other: X.XXB in XYZ
Is anyone able to explain what XXX and XYZ are please? I am guessing XXX = memory taken up and XYZ = number of processes?
But it doesn't make sense to say: Avail: 32MB + 0.00B in 31 processes
What are considered 'good', 'bad' and optimal figures here?

There's a lot of noobish posts/replies about rooting and EVO here, so I'm trying to fully grasp what is true and what is not.A lot of posts/replies indicate you lose all of your data/apps/settings but I'm beginning to think that this only happens with the toastcfh root but NOT the unrevoked root. Can someone (who has a clue and has done this) please confirm? The sticky says that the OTA will kill the Root. This seems to contradict what unrevoked is saying on Twitter. So will it clobber the unrevoked root or the toastcfh root (or both)? I find it hard to believe unrevoked is wrong about their own app/testing/rooting.Next a lot of folks say wifi-tethering is broken. First off, I believe it wasn't "working" unless you used the Sprint Mobile WiFi HotSpot and are paying for it. So when someone says "its broken" that leads me to believe rooting the EVO breaks the Sprint Mobile WiFi Hotspot, which I kind of doubt, but want to confirm. Sure it likely doesn't resolve the MAC/ARP issue for android-wifi-tether app, but I'm not trying to get something for free here, I'm already paying for Sprint's Mobile Hotspot, I just don't want to break it.
My last question is for the UNIX folks out there - Has anyone found an Apache or similar web server which is ported to Android, which I could load? What about SSHD? IMHO, there's no point in rooting if I can't run a web server or SSH daemon. I don't care to kill the Sprint bloatware (kind of like it) as I have already resolved my battery issues (see my other post).

I've just rooted my s4 i9500 runing official os 4.4.2, im new at this, I rooted my phone so I could get a different experience with it, like overclocking cpu to get faster performance (dont really know how to do this now that I have root access) (not thats runing slow, but just wanted to get the best out of it) Im really new at this I barely learned the process of rooting I've read I can flash a new rom like cyanogenmod (i guess is the best because it gets a lots of reviews) the thing is im not really sure how to do it and also is it worth it?
I want to get the best out of my phone (speed and goodlooks) mostlu because im bored of the original touchwiz.

I used this to try to root. How to Root DROID X Running Official Android 2.2 - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog and well when I hook up my phone to my computer its telling me that it can install the driver. (Its never done this before when I had 2.1) the SDK program wont even do screen shots for me so thats the main reason I am trying to root. I know thats a dumb reason but still. I know this isn't much info but its all I got for you. I did run the root program and it said my phone is now rooted and no errors occurred. I know its not rooted cause the screen shot applications are not working on my phone.

Alright, I've browsed the site a bit and have been lurking for a couple weeks now. I also did some google searching that wasn't entirely helpful. I'm looking to root my Droid currently running the OTA Froyo update, but I'm unable to find instructions for doing this with a Mac. Buying the Easy Root key is kind of out of the question ($0.78 in the checking account - college is great), so I'm turning to your infinite wisdom for help. I'm basically looking for a sequence of steps/the links and downloads I will need. Has anyone else already done this? I'm new to the rooting concept, but it sounds like it's worth it.

I'm a Nexus One user so already using froyo and of course stoked with it.Given that the phone is already superfast and tethering works, is there any real benefit to root, and / or custom ROMs?Previous to froyo the main motivation for custom rom would have been tethering but thats now moot. I am happy with stock android UI and wouldn't bother for just ui tweaks. I am interested however in possibility of getting better battery life, but am leery of losing the comfortable convenience of OTA stock updates. One of the reasons I picked an N1 at the time was that I knew I'd be getting 2.1 and 2.2 before any other model also side question, when you go custom rom and do a backup before flashing, does restoring the backup literally restore everything (apps, data, settings etc.) completely? i.e. everything remains in exactly the right place, your apps are all 100% intact, gmail/contacts/exchange/sms etc. all there etc.
