General :: Can't Get Certain Apps After Rooting

Nov 8, 2013

my tablet was orginally a samsung galaxy GT-P5113, however I rooted it and everything and now it's a 4.3 GT-P5110.

I rooted it because everyone said it would be better, however, how is limited access better? Did I do something wrong?

I can't download anything that has to do with samsung and I can't even download the samsung app store.

General :: Epic 4G - Apps Missing From Google Play After Rooting

May 2, 2012

I have a epic 4g rooted, stock rom, seems that when i go to the market, it does not show the apps that i have installed and/or the ones that i purchased. additionally, if i were to delete one of these missing apps, they still dont show up in the market/google play. I have attempted to use various market enablers, but this has not solved my issue. on another note, and perhaps related, when i use titanium backup only one app shows setcpu, while previously it was working.

General :: Install Google Apps On Coby Kyros Without Rooting?

Jun 20, 2012

My only goal is simply to have Google Play up and running on my Android without rooting and putting on all sorts of fancy mods. Besides, I'm not even sure if there's a Cyanogenmod for my device. I looked and it's not in the list.

I recently got a Coby Kyros MID1042, Android 4.0 tablet. It doesn't come with Google Apps. I want to install Google Apps. I have tried doing this by using the APKs and installing manually. I found instructions on Youtube and downloaded some signed apks with Vending 3.3.12.

Things seemed to be fine until I clicked on Google Play in my apps tab, I was prompted to enter my Gmail account info, so I did. I got the message "Your phone needs to communicate with Google Servers to set up your account...", but after a few minutes, I got a message that says, "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server", followed by "Unforunately, Google ServicesFramework has stopped."

have come up with solutions that seem to involve something called "rooting", resetting and installing some MODs... I'd rather use rooting or modding as an absolute last resort. Why I'm getting these messages, or any better .apk package.

General :: How To Shut Off Auto Apps Without Rooting - Galaxy Note

Feb 24, 2012

I've been through pages of forum posts about shutting off automatically updating aps and almost all seem to suggest rooting. I know nothing about such things and really don't feel like risking my phone, new Galaxy Note, to my ineptitude. I've read and re-read the manual too. Yes, I'm sure the answer is probably on here but I couldn't find it, or maybe it went over my head. The problem is I've been watching my data usage and tracked down the extraordinary usage to a slew of aps, all undeleteable and pre-installed by AT&T/Google. I don't want to delete the programs because I may want them at some point, but they're running and updating in the background and using megs. I shut them off within a setting menu and many of them came back later. Most of these aps are things I never even opened. Is there any way to keep these aps from running until *I* want them to?

HTC EVO 4G : Paid Apps After Rooting

Jun 10, 2010

Yesterday before rooting my phone i bought DocsToGo 2.0. After buying the software (Last Night) I rooted my phone. I installed the stock sprint rom but with root access. Since then I went to market place and tried to re-download docstogo paid version but I can't find it on the market. I see the free version and I dl that but it comes back and tell me that i need to buy the full version. I am using the same email address that was used when purchasing the app. Does anyone know why I can not see a paid version of DocToGo. Also, I searched for logmein (free) and can't find that app as well.

HTC EVO 4G :: Rooting Froyo OTA To Delete Apps?

Aug 3, 2010

Alright so I just downloaded the Froyo OTA update.I don't want to do anything too crazy with my phone, however there are a couple of things I would like to change.
1. Delete HTC lock screen, I read if you delete the htclockscreen.apk it will just use the standard "vanilla" froyo one
2. Delete all of the bloatware apps (Sprint Nav, TV, Zone, Nascar, Football, etc)
3. Wifi Tether
Will I be able to do this with just root or do I need a custom ROM? I have read through XDA and on here but I am in over my head. I'm used to jailbreaking iPhones in one step or just installing Preware.I really don't want to have to reset my phone since I have finally got it set up and looking the way I like. Can someone point me in the direction of what I need to do (unrevoked?) to enable the three things I listed? Because I am lost with rooting and unlocking nand and custom ROMs and kernels. Is it even possible to root the OTA right now, or do I need to wait?

HTC Desire :: Move Whole Apps To SD Without Rooting?

Nov 8, 2010

Is there any way of moving whole apps to SD without rooting?

I've recently picked up a 16GB SD card, but I can't move whole applications to the SD Card.

Rooting or forcing apps to SD card is looking more and more likely. Especially when T-Mobile are yet to release the correct 2.2 update.

HTC Desire :: HTC Sense Apps - Widgets When Rooting

Sep 20, 2010

I am wondering what actually happens with all the apps and widgets that come with Sense UI. I assume none of them will work anymore once the Desire is rooted? Or will they stay and still be useable? Can you download them somewhere again from HTC for example and install on a rooted device?

I heard of custom Roms that will let you root the device and still use some HTC apps. Is that correct or is there no such thing?

Finally, a question that might be a bit of speculation currently. With HTC introducing the new www.htcsense.com website with features such as SMS backup for life, contact editing, app shop, etc.... some of the stuff like the SMS backup sound very interesting but now I am wondering if these features will be available for rooted devices. Anybody has any ideas about that?

Would be kind of unfair if rooted devices could not use this HTC service.

The wierd thing is the STOCK Calendar, can, and is syncing just fine with my Google Calendars.

Sprint HTC Hero : Stock Apps And Rooting

Dec 30, 2009

I know you can remove those bogus stock apps by rooting the hero but I have a slightly different question that I couldn't find in other threads. I am interested in rooting my hero just to remove the bloatware and then unroot the phone back to its original ROM. I am not a huge fan of tinkering with my electronics because it voids warranties, possibly bricks devices, and causes trouble with firmware updates, but it really ticks me off that sprint forces these apps on us and then makes them impossible to uninstall. Imagine getting a new PC and not being able to remove crap like wild tangent and the 20 free trials for programs you don't want or need. I know this isn't news to anyone here, but every time I see that Nascar app I get irritated. Seriously sprint? Nascar? Anyway, my questions are 1.) is root/unroot possible to remove bloat and return to original state 2.) has anyone had success uninstalling pieces of the bloat without rooting? I don't want to uninstall anything integral to the phone like the stock messages app, but Nascar has gots to go!

Motorola Droid :: Rooting (apps To Sd - Speed - Tether)

Feb 19, 2010

This is another "should I root" question, and I apologize in advance. I know this is basic stuff for some of you guys, but I'm on the fence and there are still some things I don't understand about rooting (I'm not a programmer, and while I've run Linux, I've never written anything for it). So I wasn't planning to root. I have no desire to change my notification bar to black, or overly customize my OS. Plus I don't want to brick my phone. That said, at some point I will run out of RAM, and I'll want to save apps to my sd card. I also realize that within months apps may play to 1gz+ phones, and down the line I might want to OC my droid. Finally, tethering might be nice in the future.

The point is, none of these things are necessary now. However after the 2.1 update will rooting be impossible? From what I've read here root was gained by exploiting something in 2.0.1. When that is fixed is it likely root will be gained again? Or should one root now if they want root in 6 months? Are there non-root workarounds to saving apps to sd cards? What about overclocking (I assume not). And if I do root, do I have to choose bugless beast or some other ROM, or can I just stick with what I have?
