I know this 2.1 is out of control, I was just curious about the option of being able to save apps to the SD card on 2.1 or without rooting? It sucks having to decide which apps are least important.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just rooted my desire and its fine, i did a back up too so ive not lost anything and its working fine, but im trying to still figure out how to make a default setting of some kind so my apps save to my SD card rather than internal memory. also im trying to become more aware of the benefits of rooting now ive done it besides the increase in phone performance etc and things like that.

This phone does not take Micro SD cards but it comes with 50GB Google Drive storage. However i haven't used this at all. I am wondering whether i could download android apps and games to google drive, dropbox etc. Games like Real Racing take up about 1GB so i cannot download it to my phone. Can i download it to the Cloud? If this is not possible, is there any way that i could save the app data on the cloud. E.g. The Simpsons: Tapped Out is about 37mb to download off the play store, but then you must download the updates etc which are about another 250mb. is there anyway to save this 250mb on the cloud. Or any other games data.

Can I root with my current card (which has 650MB-ish available), and after rooting just purchase a new card and swap it out. Sorry if this has been discussed on here before but I did search for about 20 minutes and found nothing relating to what I am experiencing. I get the following error when trying to take pictures on my HTC Hero (Sprint) "Unable to save file to SD card due to insufficient file permissions" I have removed and replaced the card. It will work for about 15 minutes then the same error. I also backed up everything and formatted the card. It worked again for about 15 minutes then the same error.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I've tried and tried again using RA and other linux based programs (GParted) to get my 8GB card to partition for apps2sd. Everything always runs smoothly and shows that the card is partitioned correctly. But then upon reboot the SD card shows full fat32 memory (6.9 GB). No matter what I do, after reboot, the partitions never happen. When I used GParted, and then loaded the SD card on the phone it always says that the SD card is damaged and I need to reformat. I've done that and rerun everything to no avail. Someone please tell me this issue is that the SD card is corrupted and I should give up. Because I've followed everything to a T as far as partitioning. With that I'll say that I had no problems rooting my phone, flashing ROM's/RA's, etc, and have been able to do whatever I want as far as new things to load. I've finally decided after all this time to do apps2sd, and I literally screwed around for 5+ hrs today, trying to partition the SD card properly. Any thoughts?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI know you can remove those bogus stock apps by rooting the hero but I have a slightly different question that I couldn't find in other threads. I am interested in rooting my hero just to remove the bloatware and then unroot the phone back to its original ROM. I am not a huge fan of tinkering with my electronics because it voids warranties, possibly bricks devices, and causes trouble with firmware updates, but it really ticks me off that sprint forces these apps on us and then makes them impossible to uninstall. Imagine getting a new PC and not being able to remove crap like wild tangent and the 20 free trials for programs you don't want or need. I know this isn't news to anyone here, but every time I see that Nascar app I get irritated. Seriously sprint? Nascar? Anyway, my questions are 1.) is root/unroot possible to remove bloat and return to original state 2.) has anyone had success uninstalling pieces of the bloat without rooting? I don't want to uninstall anything integral to the phone like the stock messages app, but Nascar has gots to go!

Let's say the user starts with a 16GB, class 6 SD card. What are the benefits of storing apps to the SD card? Does it let the phone run smoother? Does it allow you to install more apps on your phone? What are the cons? Do apps take longer to open/load? Is there a risk of damaging the SD card and/or the phone? If someone could explain this to me as thoroughly as possible.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone for the first time yesterday. I have not yet flashed any ROM's, all I have done so far is remove some of the stock apps. I have lost my data connection a couple times today, usually a reboot will solve it, however it hasn't on one or two occasions. It seems to have started happening after changing my boot animation to something closer to the 1.5 boot animation. Is it possible that this new boot animation is causing my data connection problems.

Now what? i cant install terminal emulator either. i want to do it this way so i do not use up the space on the fone.For some reason i think it will start going slow again if i dont. any advice on what your setups are? what have you safely removed? is it ok to remove MyFavs? how about the cube? is there anything todo to speed it up a lil? or make it so it doesnt slow down at all?

So I flashed Fresh .5 over MocaDo 1.1 and the force closes stop. The phone feels a lot zipper. I have WiFi tether. Spare parts is great. Now how do I move apps to the sd card to free up more space?
