Jan 14, 2013
I own a Chinese smartphone called Dapeng i9877.I tried to root it but something went wrong and the cellphone bricked.I searched online and I found the original files to restore my cellphone,Everything is ok except some problems. The cellphone now has no IMEI , no Serial Number , no MAC address.I found a way to restore the IMEI so OK but I cant connect to the net without a MAC address so no wi-fi and Bluetooth. No.No matter how many times I tried to flash my cellphone , the results are the same. how to fix the problem and restore those info?

I tried connect to AP(DHCP componet is disabled) with Google dev phone 1. It fails to connect to that AP. Can't get a ip address from AP. I hoped the dev phone successfully connect to the AP, and assign own auto-ip by itself(169.254.xx.xx). But It didn't happened. I think it must be abnormal case. Is there any special way to get an Auto IP address?

I like to add addresses to my phone book in Android. As a lot of my contacts live in buildings i also like to add the floor and apartment number to the address: Looking like that:
Street and Number, Floor and Department number
Town, zip code
State
Country
Example;
Av. Whatever 12345, Floor 5-A
Buenos Aires 1007
Argentina
When clicking on the address the GPS of my wish opens , finds the country, city but not the street because of the additional Floor and department information. Without this additional information everything well with Google Maps or Sygic.
So, how should i add this additional Floor and department information to my address without the GPS has problems to find the main location. Also from ICS on there is only one filed to add the whole address not as with Gingerbread where you had a field for street, city, etc.

Just getting used to my HTC Desire, after reading your forum I was comforted regarding battery life and it seems much better now than the first few days.
I see another post on this but no answer, the address book only gives one line of the address is then any way round this? Even my first pda a Psion 3 had the option of which fields to display etc. there seems very little option to format what is seen, not that I am unhappy about the rest but to have to edit to see all the address is barmy.
Another thing way back then that still is not found is search all fields of the contacts, i.e. to find a number of someone that rang on another phone.

The Gmail address book on the Web contains a field for birthdays, so why not the Android address book? While I'm sure the app could undergo a lot of changes (and everyone would have different ideas) something as basic as a birthday seems obvious.

With Google's voice action (or voice search), I can use the "navigate to" command to start the navigation app directly. However, this seems to work only with address, name of places. For example, I tried "navigate to 1234 main street" or "navigate to san jose airport" or "navigate to Starbucks on oakland road". The commands were recognized in all cases. For the last one, it prompted me with a list of choices for the end points, and once selected, proceeded correctly with the navigation.
However, if I say "navigate to John Doe home", although it also recognized the command correctly (i.e. it came up with the prompt "navigate to john doe home" and asked me to choose "go" or "cancel"), it would not come up with the correct address from the contact list as the end point to navigate to, but instead it would come up with a list of end points not related to John Doe at all, even if I have John Doe in my contact list (with the home address).
I googled around and it appeared that other users have also experienced similar problems, with some dating back 2-3 years ago. I just discovered this since I just switched from iPhone to a Samsung Skyrocket (with Gingerbread v2.3.6). Seems to be a simple problem to resolve. I can't believe that this problem is not (AFAIK) getting the attention of Google as I think this would be encountered by a lot of people.
Also I am wondering if there is a way to get around this beside giving the full address in the voice search command.

I have just bought a Freelancer PX2 and am reluctant to tweak it until I am happy it is working properly and have accepted delivery. But it comes up with a different MAC address every time it is turned on. The first 3 bytes are always 00:08:22: but the remainder appears to be random. I know MAC addresses can be spoofed, but I have never seen one that changes on an unmodded device.
PX2, whether this happens on their tablet, or whether the MAC address is fixed (as I believe it should be)?

I have a VZW Galaxy Nexus. On 4.1.2 I can tether my Xbox wirelessly with success. On 4.2.1/4.2.2 I can't anymore. All ROMs and kernels fail. No configuration I try anymore allows successful tethering. Xbox reports the error that it can't get an IP address.
Can you wirelessly tether to your Xbox using Android 4.2.X, and if so, what phone are you using and what ROM and kernel.
I'm trying to determine if this is just a Galaxy Nexus issue, and if there is anything that will work with success. (I'm not the only person with this issue, but everyone I know with the problem has a Galaxy Nexus).

I sync my contacts w/Google Contacts and am running Jellybean 4.2.1 on the Nexus 4. My issue is a husband and wife I know share the same email address but have different cell #s. Android refuses to show the wife in my contact list as long as she shares the same email address with the husband. If I remove the email address for the wife, she shows up in my contact list. The moment I add it back, on the next sync, she disappears from the contact list.
Questions:
1. Is there any way to stop android from marking a contact as a duplicate if the cell # differs but the email is the same?
2. Is there anyway to override the duplicate detection for a specific contact?

Both of my android devicea, a razr and a galaxy tab 7.0 plus, are havingtrouble connectingto our wifi. the tab is on honeycomb, the razr on ics. assigning a static ip addressworks for about five minutes, then although the phone says connected, no connection works. during those 5 mins, i can browse the internet but cannot connect via dlna to other devices. when using dhcp dynamic ip address, it just cycles through obtaining ip to disconnected . i ued to use dlna daily, but no luck now, and the static ip is the only solution i can fimd online. This phone has used dhcp before, and theres no reason that it shouldnt be able to now. Both devices run standard roms.

Blocking IP address where FQDN is not an option [hosts]
DroidWall uses iptables to control internets access by application but iptables can be tasked to block ads from ip addresses. [URL] ....
I am stunned to be unable to find a Firewall Builder style app for android [URL] .......
no FireStarter for android?? [URL] .....
the iptables gui app would NEED to play well with DroidWall -- or conversely? DroidWall would need to play well with it. DroidWall only provides a view of rules.

I bought a Kyocera Rise for my wife (big mistake - piece o' junk). She broke the sliding display off of the keyboard - ribbon and all so I transferred the service to an old LG Optimus. But I have no idea what her Gmail address was to be able to get her contacts. Is there anyway to recover the email address or transfer the contacts. The Rise still works, it just doesn't have a screen. I could plug the USB port into a PC and probably read it that way, but I have no idea how to get to the contacts. I don't think we exported the contacts to the SD card.

I recently bought a Nexus 7 Flo tablet running the latest Android 4.4. I've since been trying to spoof a MAC address on it, but for some reason the wireless card seems to refuse to use the spoofed mac no matter what I do.
There's a more detailed discussion what I've tried in android.stackexchange.com/questions/57922/wifi-network-not-accessible-with-modified-mac-address (forum won't let me link), but I'll repeat the main points here. I have tried both ip link set wlan0 address XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX and busybox ifconfig wlan0 hw ether XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX. They both result in the MAC address being changed as far as I can tell from the output of ip link and busybox ifconfig, but when connecting to a network with MAC filtering with the spoofed MAC address being allowed, the device fails to connect. /sys/class/net/wlan0/address also shows the spoofed address. If I use the device's stock MAC and add this to the filter on the AP, then the device connects successfully.

solve the issue on the android ICS Wifi Mac address , here are the problems
1) NVRAM warning Err 0x10
2) Wifi always disconnect after able to obtain IP and browse internet a few seconds
3) Noticed that the MAC address last 6 digits are always changing, like 00:08:22:XX:XX:XX after I enable/disable the wifi
4) IPLINK SHOW ETH0 -- error: Can't find device 'eth0' , but WLAN0 is present
5) NetCfg command shows only Lo, wlan0, tunl0,sit0,ip6tnl0,ccmni0,ccmni1,ccmni2. but the Eth0 is not present?
Those problems originally found at the original rom. I have downloaded another similar rom but still not okay.
I downloaded the MIUI rom but only updates the system.img, recovery.img, boot.img. other image files were the same. The WIFI errors are still there.
