I'm trying to figure out how to stop the notifications everytime an app is updated automatically. The updates are good; just don't want the notifications. It seems to be for almost all my apps that are updating.
In the Google Play Store settings, I have unchecked the Notifications checkbox, but that (surprisingly) did not do it.

Running the #TrinityKernel with a stock version of #jellybean (rooted, 4.1.2)?
Every few days (longest was 4 days between reboots), all my background notifications stop. This doesn't happen when using this kernel with either CM10 or Paranoid Android. A reboot fixes it temporarily.
My custom recovery is TWRP and I originally unlocked my bootloader and rooted my GNex manually using Arch Linux.
I've just upgraded to 2.2 and i'm missing some apps from the market (stupidly uninstalled for space before upgrading) Can anyone else with 2.2 (official) check and tell me if you can see them in the market -Photo Studio Buddy (there should be 2 versions one lite and one paid).
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a few questions about theming apps. I don't know much about Android apps, but was thinking about looking into theming some. Before I do, I want to find out if it is worthwhile or if it will be constant re-theming after every update.
When an app is themed (like the Revolution Facebook version for example) Can it be updated through the market or released APK?
If updated through the market, will it be overwritten when the app updates?
Do market updates only change the pieces needed or do they replace the whole app?
Are themed apps always complete versions or are they sometimes just the images and other parts that were themed?
How do I stop Google play store and play services from running non stop in the background?? I have my location turned off, and privacy guard turned on, but somehow play services and Google maps can get my location? Google play store runs something called "daily hygiene"and all three of these apps restart themselves when I kill them. I don't need play services running, when only the location part of it is running. When I try and disable autostart, receivers, freeze them, use advanced freeze through ROM toolbox, they either revert back instantly, or as soon as the phone reboots.how to get this crap to stop running when it's not being used, and stop getting location, or whatever other things I'm trying to keep private?
View 6 Replies View RelatedJust got a Galaxy Skyrocket (jumped ship from iPhone 4) and switched the launcher to Go Launcher EX. However, I noticed that I can't exit/quit some of the apps by choosing the "close" option for the running app. In Go Launcher, you can get a list of (background) running apps and if you tap the icon of an app, you get a pop-up with options "close", "lock', "goto", and "info". I would think by choosing "close', it would "exit" or "quit" the app, and clear the memory footprint. However, for some apps, like Facebook, Tweeter (actually TweetCaster), etc.--they will disappear for a while and come back again. So the "close" action does not really "kill" the app.
How can I really kill the app? I don't want Tweeter to be constantly running in the background and pulling down hundreds of tweets.
Also how can I stop some apps, e.g. Facebook, from pre-loading? I don't want these apps running in the background eating up the resources when I don't need them. There must be a way, Just haven't figure it out yet.
if there is any ways to stop running some apps in background (like poweramp) and force it to just run as I manually open it and after closing stop running in background.

I downloaded the patch that Pete Alfonso posted on his website and have flashed it 2 times now and I am still getting the OTA update notifications, anyone have any suggestions on how to make this stop?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI know enough typing has been done about how to disable double notifications from the default messaging app when you install another one and i apologize for being repetitive but i have been looking for days and i am unable to do so in my phone. I recently got a Samsung Behold 2 for T-Mobile, it runs on Android 1.5 and it is my first android phone. I downloaded Hand cent which i love and is way better than the default sms app but i keep getting double notifications every time i get a new message and it is so annoying. I have tried the steps from other posts to resolve the issue but i am unable to stop it. I go to the default sms app on my samsung but there is no option to stop notifications. When i click menu and then settings i get a couple options like Text Message, Picture Message, Voice Mail etc. When i go to Text Message the only thing there is Sending options and Text Message center and that is it. No notifications or anything like it.

I would like to have Velocity 0.2 on my phone but I cannot stand the constant nagging to update. I have tried flashing VZB and going back and the notifications still appear. I went into the LED options and unchecked "Email," but I'm not sure if that's just for the "Email" app itself, and not Gmail. I still get the LED flash when I have new Gmail, but it doesn't seem to happen *every* time! I still want the notification icon to appear, so I don't want to turn off Gmail notification altogether. I already turned off sound, now I just need to turn off the LED.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got a Motorola Droid and I'm greatly pleased with it, but I'm having one minor problem with the Gmail app that's tedious and slightly annoying. I wanted to see if anyone else has the same problem and how you've fixed it. Whenever I get a new email, the notification appears properly. I click it, it takes me to the email. The notification stays there and does not go away like it should. I have to go back to the notification again and either clear notifications or access the email a second time. Any ideas as to why I'm getting two of the exact same notifications?

Some backround on this post. I own 2 android devices, a Samsung Galaxy i9003 and since yesterday, a Nexus 7.
I have ditched my Galaxy as a phone and gone to Blackberry due to battery issues, and apps on my Samsung draining the battery from full to empty in the space of a few hours, so I am now very careful about what I install. Since removing almost all the apps (and the SIM card) from the galaxy, I now have a battery live measured in days (including watching video) rather than hours just sitting doing nothing...
I understand the use of apps auto-starting themselves to provide notifications, such as Facebook, Twitter & Accuweather, but even though I do use these apps for what they are, I do not need them running all the time to provide a notification: The added "work" in starting the app to check updates is worth the extra battery life I get, as if I leave things alone to be automatically managed, my battery life is divided by 10... and having to flip the phone in and out of flight mode is a pain... (especially when you forget to activate it in the afternoon after charging and at 3 AM in the morning you have no battery left to call a taxi...)
So, what I would like to understand is this: Where does android store the information on autostarting applications? Even if I use a task killer, some apps will restart later on. Android must have some sort of task scheduler to restart registered apps after a certain amount of time has passed or on certain events.
how Android manages this list - and more importantly, how to change it, and also if there is any way to override the registered permissions of an app once it has been installed?
I have a Wildfire S with CM7. I have almost all apps linked to SD including GO Launcher using Link2SD, and I moved cache to SD as well.
When I remove my SD and reinsert it, all of the apps linked or moved stop working and I can't restore them with Titanium Backup
So I have to restore my ROM Backup and use Titanium Backup to restore them, which app I have to put in internal memory so that I don't get this problem ???
Not for security, just to stop mobile data internet from reaching some apps. I need to set it by multiple configuration too.

It keeps popping up on the top bar whenever I get a text from anyone even after accessing that text in Handcent. It's not that big a deal but I need to go into my messaging app and view it to get rid of that notification. Is there a way to stop the notifications for the messaging app? Thank you.

Today I received the auto-update notice on my device, but I don't want to just go ahead with it and lose root access. So I am hoping someone can tell me how I should handle this. I would like to update, but only if I can keep root access as I have overclocked and run a number of other root-only apps. Here is my device info... I'll try to provide as much as I can. I used the instructions listed HERE to root my device, and HERE to overclock. Also, will it be necessary to wipe all my data to perform this update and re-root? And if it turns out that I am not ready to update right now, is there a way to stop the automatic notifications?

I tried searching for the answer on both Google and multiple forums but the key words of 'Stop, app, update, notifications' tends to find a lot of hits or none at all if in quotes. View 1 Replies View RelatedFor the last few weeks when I get a text message or email I get the regular notification but also another/different "icon" for the same message; so I end up with two icons in my notification bar. And the only way the "new" icon can be cleared from my notification bar is if I physically pull down the bar and press clear (even if I've read the message it stays there until I clear it). It's starting to drive me crazy...my ringtone even goes off twice. Anyone have an idea on why this is happening? I don't have any third party message apps installed.
