View 7 RepliesI want to control the system settings "auto brightness", setting it ON or OFF.I'm able to control the brightness level but only if AUTO is OFF. From what I read until now there is a SCREEN_BRIGHTNESS_MODE in Settings.System but only for API level 8 or higher and also not recommended to mess wit it. But currently my phone has Android 2.1 (API 7) and there are widgets that can control this setting (enable/disable auto brightness and set the level). How is this done?
View 1 Replies View RelatedLong time lurker, please no flaming. The Droid has an awesome screen, especially when set at full brightness. However, I typically have it set at the lowest brightness to conserve battery. On my old Windows phone I was able to have the brightness adjust to full when it was plugged in. I've looked for this setting on the Droid and thus far have been unsuccessful in locating this ability.Does anyone know if this setting exists or if there is an app that would do this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a specific problem that has persisted through multiple android devices, through all ROMs and builds. Currently I am on a Verizon galaxy nexus with cyanogen 10.1 (background in case it's more relevant than I believe).
When a timer or alarm goes off on my device, or when I receive a call or text, my screen wakes automatically. I think this may be considered a "feature" in android. However, since my phone is nearly always in my pocket, it means that the screen turns on and often receives enough of a false signal in my pocket to disable an alarm or decline/accept a call. It is very inconvenient and would be alleviated if I could specify that I want my device to turn on the screen ONLY when I press the power button.
I know that others have the same problem from searches on xda and elsewhere, but I don't see solutions (except what looks like a registry hack on some specific devices)
How to get a cover to stop screen interactions while in my pocket, nor do I want to hear about a more elaborate lock screen to keep said interactions from interfering with alarms/calls. The problem is simply that the screen comes on at all with seemingly no way to change the behavior.
Are these the same? I have searched the forum, and can't seem to find the answer. I don't find any "auto brightness" setting in the settings menu on the Hero. I have auto backlight unchecked. What exactly does this do? Is this the screen dimming? Sorry, I am confused. Uh oh! Must be a senior moment!
While I am showing off photos I have on my phone, the screen dims...how do I keep this from happening?
Also, relating to photos..when I go to "Albums", I have 4 folders listed...Camera Shots, All Photos, etc. When I take a pictures with the phone camera, they seems to be in both folders. Why?
Since root has been attained, I have a feeling this app would be possible:An app that disabled the screen dim right before the screen times out.My guess is (and please correct me if I'm wrong) that the voltage outgoing to the screen changes, and therefore dims the screen. If an app could be developed that maintains this voltage, the screen could be at a constant voltage, and not dim, ever.Has anyone heard of an app like this, and, if not, is there anyone interested in developing this?I am sure a lot of people (like myself) would be willing to donate for a program like this.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy wife and I have been having the same problem. We keep the auto-brightness option checked, but every so often we find that it goes back to manual mode--and it always reverts the phone back to full brightness setting. Any ideas why this would happen?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to disable the auto screen locking function when I close my cover?
I bought a couple of cheap case covers from China and as far as I understand they might not have the right material which causes the IR to be reflected instead of being absorbed.
I don't mind it locking really, aside from maybe a bigger battery consumage, since I often hear it locking itself while in my pocket.
No, my main problem is, with some of the covers, if I flip the front cover side to the back so I can hold the phone easily, it locks.
For example, the 2 I have on me, the leather one locks if I flip it over, the plastic one doesn't.
Really I'd like to disable the function alltogether, I prefer locking it myself together with the trusty 30s idle lock.
How do I disable auto locking when closing case cover.
I am looking for someone good with code, but I don't know if this is currently even possible. (I know root isn't done or even close) But here's a little request for someone whose good with code and making apps: I am looking for someone to create a custom auto brightness app that lets you set the max and min for the the auto brightness on the Incredible. I like the auto feature on the Incredible, but it gets way too high and drains the battery too quickly So I would like to have an app that lets you set like EX: 5% as the minimum brightness and 40% as the maximum. Make it so you have have ajustable bars to move back and forth to pick your percentage or something along the lines of that. I think if someone managed to work some code and create this app it'd be heavily downloaded. So I was wondering if someone could make an app like this?Anyone good with this stuff and want to try and work with the brightness settings and make an app like this or apk.?
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I decided to turn auto brightness on so I can see the screen when I'm outside, but I notice that when I'm in the dark the screen is so dim that the flashlight doesn't work anymore. I searched for a new one with a function to override brightness control but I don't think there is one. Anyone know of one that I may have missed?
View 2 Replies View RelatedBut is there an app that will only allow the auto bright to go up to max 50%?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI wondered how everyone set their brightness - I was comparing my Hero with my wife's iPhone at home last night and the Hero was a lot dimmer in comparison because of the auto-brightness. I disabled it for the first time and cranked up to brightness and the display looked so much better - I just wondered what others thought about this and whether battery life would be affected greatly turning up the brightness.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow come the auto screen brightness doesn't seem to change how bright the screen is? The sensor itself is working fine, as using the proxylight sensor app (free on the market) it does actually register changes in light.Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
View 12 Replies View RelatedSo I just got my phone two days ago and I have auto brightness set which works well. What I do notice though, and it might just be in my head because I read the issues with the pink hue on the screens, is the following. When using the phone normally it looks great, the screen looks really nice. When you place the phone down and have the screen timeout set (I have mine set to one minute) a few seconds before it goes to sleep mode it dims the screen, and if I'm on my main home screen it looks fine, however, if I'm on a page where there is a lot of white like a white background, it seems as though the screen takes on a weird hue right before it shuts off. I wouldn't say it is a pink hue, but it is definitely a weird hue. It isn't that big of a deal because like I said, it only happens before the screen automatically times out. Anyone else experiencing this? If so, what are your settings (screen timeout time, is auto brightness on or off)?
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust started messing around with the auto brightness setting. After reading up about it I see a lot of people are having problems with it. Mine too seems way too dim.Anyway I figured I'd give it one last shot and was wondering where exactly is the sensor? Im wondering if my case is covering it or something.Similar topic is there anything wrong with keeping the brightness at about 33% for most of the time? Burn in? Or is it just battery drain?
View 3 Replies View RelatedHow does it work? i know it goes by the sensor on top of the phone but does it automatically adjust due to the amount of light that it reads? ex:dark room, brighter screen, go outside - more light dim screen? am i getting that wrong?

View 11 Replies View RelatedSo I have a battery savings profile on Setting Profiles and I have the screen set at around 25%. Problem is that in the sun I have a very hard time seeing the screen. View 11 Replies View RelatedI have switched from Android 2.3.6 to 4.0.3 (ICSSGS RC 4.2) on my Samsung Galaxy S.
All I need works fine but there is one thing I wonder. The automatic regulation of the display brightness is very dark compared to the old 2.3.6.
Now I wonder ist this an Android 4.0.3 or ICSSGS feature? Is there a way to increase the offset for this feature a little bit. Sure I can turn it off and use manually brighness, but that's not what I want.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSince 2.2, I don't do the auto brightness cause its always to dark from my taste so I shut that off and set it around "o" in automatic for the setting. Almost every time I re-wake the phone up its at full damn brightness and when I go into the settings it is still at my setting if I touch it it quickly dims to where it is suppose to be. Also I can get there by hitting the power button and re-waking it a couple times. Is anyone else having the issue and how do u resolve it. I have done a cache clear and factory reset then I also did is all again "Fabrian" way.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI really, really, really like this ROM and I have looked at four different ones. The one thing I noticed is that the automatic brightness doesnt seem to work. Or at least, when it's dark, the phone's brightness which is too low, never changes.Am I supposed to add something else to the phone? I wiped factory and dalvick. I have v30 of Froyos.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOkay, So I have my brightness set to max, I have power saving mode turned OFF, yet when the battery starts to die down, the phone INSISTS on automatically setting the brightness to a lower setting.Anyone else notice this, or is it just my phone? Again I have brightness set to max, power saving off yet when my battery level gets really low, the darn phone insists that the brightness should be less, and decreases it for me automatically.
