General :: Attach Galaxy Nexus To Projector
Mar 16, 2012
I an an Android app developer and I would like to attach my Galaxy Nexus to a projector (with VGA input unfortunately) in order to present my applications to other people when they are many. In this case I don't want to just start a presentation or show images, but I want the projector to reproduce what the screen is actually showing.
Is this possible? If yes, how? I've seen that in USA it is possible to buy a micro-usb to VGA adapter that works with Galaxy Nexus, but it is not clear to me whether I'm able to see the screen or only media files. I think that a special app is needed to show the screen.

I have transferred photos and music from my Nokia N97 to my Samsung Galaxy by Bluetooth. The photos and music have come through okay. When going to my Music player, the list of tracks are displayed but there is a photo that i have transferred attached to every song on the playlist. I have deleted this photo thinking it will fix the problem but the songs are displayed with a stupid photo next to them. I just want the name of song displayed. There is no need for the photo to be linked to the song.

I rooted my Galaxy Nexus and downloaded a CWM file and used the command prompt and according to the prompt everything is installed correctly, but how can I be sure it is actually on my cellphone? I need to know because I'm downloading the 200+ mb files now for 4.1 and I want to upgrade, but I have a fear I may not flash the zip files correctly.

Just got my brand spankin' new Galaxy Nexus to replace my dated OG this morning and its insanely fast and everything seems to work great but I cant seem to send texts. Ive tried with Zygot3, Android Revolution 2.1.2, and right now Im on GummyNexus and Ive tried it with and without the leaked radios and it doesn't work no matter what. Calling is fine but every SMS just says message not sent. I have 2 bars of 4g so I should have enough signal...

I have a VZW Galaxy Nexus. On 4.1.2 I can tether my Xbox wirelessly with success. On 4.2.1/4.2.2 I can't anymore. All ROMs and kernels fail. No configuration I try anymore allows successful tethering. Xbox reports the error that it can't get an IP address.
Can you wirelessly tether to your Xbox using Android 4.2.X, and if so, what phone are you using and what ROM and kernel.
I'm trying to determine if this is just a Galaxy Nexus issue, and if there is anything that will work with success. (I'm not the only person with this issue, but everyone I know with the problem has a Galaxy Nexus).

recently I have received a Galaxy Nexus from A sibling because it had a defective charge port. I had replaced it (which included a new mic). I noticed my mic didn't work with phone calls (I understand that people were experiencing a muted effect, I cannot even hear a muffled sound. just fuzzy background recording) as well as with certain apps like snapchat. however with certain apps and features such as Smart Voice Recorder, and Text-to-speech feature, it functioned perfectly with clear recording. I have plugged in a external mic, as well as a two individual headsets with mic feature, and the same problem persist. I have even gone as far as to download the Soundabout app which allows me to decide what my primary recording device is, and still no resolve.

I am currently on a Galaxy Nexus, and the one thing I am missing from my iPhone is the ability to view my notifications when I am say in a game or an app that hides the top bar. Is there a way around this or something I am missing? Is it coming up in jelly bean? (I haven't had time to really look it up but I heard about the better notifications.)

I encrypted my Samsung Galaxy Nexus several months ago and now I want to decrypt the drive and wipe the information. Nothing I have tried has worked so far.
The option to perform a factory reset through the OS has not worked. I make the selection, enter in my passphrase, the phone reboots into the green robot screen (like it was updating) then when it boots back up it asks me to enter in the encryption passphrase again and I do then it takes me to my un-wiped phone.
I have also attempted to reset it with the ClockworkMod Recovery and it will not work either. Giving an "Error mounting data!" message and similar message for the rest
I have my Nexus unlocked and rooted but it is running stock other than those two.

I own a Chevy Camaro SS 2012 that has Bluetooth handsfree built in. Works like a charm with my friends LG phone with Android, as well as with my company iPhone 4S.
But with my Samsung Galaxy Nexus running native Android 4.2.2 it will pair just fine, but I am only able to hear the sound and use the mic in the car, but not engage any functions nor access the contacts list. So I cannot answer calls, or make new ones etc...
The problem is not in the car as it works fine with other phones, and I've tried to reset everything on both the phone and in the car and then re-pair them, without any success. Nobody on the Camaro forums knows how to proceed.

My work is setting up a secure webpage and we are expected to be able to access it 24/7 to log alerts received when there are server errors at work. To access this secure webpage we were given two certificates, one for windows (home use) and one for mobile ( a .p12 file which I've read is compatible). I cannot access the webpage via Android browser or chrome browser (or any other 3rd party browser). I've imported the certificate using the import feature in Settings->Security and it showed a brief notification that the import was successful. However, the certificate isn't listed in the "User" section of the trusted credentials list. Now, I would suspect that the certificate wasn't made correctly, but the same exact one works on a co-workers iPhone (pains me to say that). I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, rooted, but otherwise stock.

My texts sometimes hang on "sending". this almost always happens when i'm texting my two brothers. maybe it's something about texting more than one person? maybe it's something about texting them? and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
I'm using straight talk and my phone is all the way updated to the latest apps and android.

I have a Google galaxy nexus ( from Google). The Google now works as far as voice recognition and asking questions, however cards are not displayed and at the bottom of the Google now screen I do not have a area that is supposed to have "more Google cards" button. I have activated everything I can think of and cards still do not display. I even allowed google to save web searches on my account ( its active). It also said to tap in the Google now window go to settings and then "Google now" to turn on or off....well I do not have a "Google now" option....strange! I am on 4.1 Jelly Bean ( did not root ) its standard upgrade.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but when I look up driving directions on my phone and the route is displayed on the map it no longer has the button to go to direction list. It shows the route on the map but doesn't let me look at the written directions. The only button down there is get directions and if I press it it takes me back to my location search screen with my destination erased. I can't image why they would take this out.

My specific device is a GSM Galaxy Nexus.
So, I have 3 batteries for my phone. 1 stock (1750mAh) and 2 extended (2000mAh). No I don't need all that juice... its a story for another time. Anyway....
Lately when I charge a battery in the external charger (using a USB cable and the wall plug supplied with the phone) the battery will not fully charge. The LED on the charger will change from red to green (Usually I charge the battery overnight, or while I'm away at work during the day). However when I put the battery in the phone, it will show somewhere between 80%-90% charged.
1) Would a 100% drain and charge reset the battery's "fuel gauge"?
2) My phone automatically powers off at 6% (which is fine, needs enough juice to save current settings and power down properly). Is there a way to truely drain the battery down to 0%? (I'm thinking of some kind of low-voltage lightbulb or LED connected to the positive and negative terminals should drain that down to 0%. Is this recommeneded or is it fine just running it down till the phone powers off?
Normally I try to plug my phone in and charge (or power off and swap batteries) once they hit about 40%-60%. I'm only interested in doing a full drain to see if that will get these batteries to fully charge in the desktop charger. Besides I've read from a few sources that it is GOOD for the battery to do this once in a while (Fully drain, charge to100%) to properly maintain them.
And as a side note, charging the battery in the phone (either with the wall plug or from USB cable on my computer) will always result in a 100% charge, which makes me thing the issue is with the desktop unit itself (perhaps faulty circuit that cuts off charge current when it thinks its full ?)

My GNex took a baseball to the screen; the screen is shattered and unresponsive, but the phone will power on and I can see the file structure if I connect via USB to my PC. I've retrieved all the files and photos that I want to save from the phone by copying to the PC, but not the text messages. I had a backup for the text messages, but it's gone (different story for another time). So I've been searching for a way to retrieve these text messages that can be executed entirely from the PC side, since I have no way of installing an app on the phone. I'd either like to be able to copy the SMS database to a new phone via PC, or dump it into some sort of manageable text format.
From the searches I've done, it seems like I might be able to do this using some sort of developer's code; (i.e., Install this program, plug in the phone, enter these lines of code, etc.)
The phone is stock (not rooted), and was just recently updated to ICS 4.0.4 (?)
Samsung says they can "fix" the phone for $160+, but that they won't be able to save any of the data since the phone isn't navigable (I assume they'll just send a replacement).
