General :: Android Tablet As Sheet Music Viewer?
Feb 8, 2011
I have ordered a Zenithink ZT-180-102A and plan to use it to view sheet music for the band I play in, and turn the pages with a USB foot switch that sends a PgDn key to Acrobat Reader.
I would think that the tablet will be (just) big enough to view A4 PDF sheet music at 10.1" (would have preferred slightly bigger).I'm hoping Adobe Acrobat Reader for Android can go full screen and respond to PgDn messages.Battery life seems a bit light, but figure I can run it from the power adapter if required.how well the screen would work in sunlight. If I'm reading the foot switch description right, I can configure the key press via the software on a Windows machine, then plug it directly into the Zenithink as a standard HID device.

I mean free, legal music. Like on Youtube...it is too bad so many videos are blocked from being played on mobile devices. And forget Pandora radio. It is good, but there is no way you can search for specific songs.

I have a samsung tablet, recently music player has started to not play my music library properly. When i start to listen to a song, it plays it for a few sec then skips to the other one, and so on. Also a few other apps have stopped working. I did a virus scan and all seems ok.

I have a Nexus 7 tablet and every few days I notice a few new apps on the device. I'm not sure if they're full apps or just simply icons to download apps or get more information. I have tried to avoid using them. I know previously I had a couple apps that were sending notifications to the notification system that I considered to be spam. After some research I found out how you can find out which apps are doing it and disable notifications from those apps so that took care of that.

Hope this isn't a repeated noob question. I searched through the forum and couldn't find this topic.I have this mysterious icon on the HTC Hero's task/status bar. It showed up on the 2nd or 3rd day after getting the phone. It looks like a yellow sheet of paper with a dog-ear in the bottom-left corner. I had installed a couple of notepad apps and uninstalled all except for one called Note Me. I've checked Task Manager and it doesn't appear to be running. Deleted all notes in Note Me, checked its options, and the author's web page doesn't show this icon.Pocket your world - Home of software solutions for your iphone, gPhone and Blackberry Anyone recognize this icon? It's left of center in the attached photo. I drew a red arrow pointing to it.

Most pdf viewers you can pinch to zoom. That really is not convenient when trying to read something pinching in and out, scrolling, etc. I am looking for a better solution. Most of the stuff I read is almost readable without zooming. I was hoping to find something that when I touch the screen, whatever is under/around my finger, it zooms that in a box. Then I can just keep moving my finger and seeing stuff zoomed and lift my finger to see the whole page.
I'm reading on a 10" tablet.
Anything out there like that or that is more usable for reading pdfs?

The best txt viewer/editor for Microsoft Windows is Notepad ++. It's such a shame we don't have something like that on Android. Anyways, I need a Text Editor with the following features:
1-Full-screen mode: A mode the fills the whole screen. I mean no menu, no toolbar, no nothing! What I need for the app is to fill the whole screen when I put the phone in horizontal position. I don't need to see a menu bar on battery percentage when I'm reading a book.
2-Last Position: Remembers the place of your last visit. For instance, if I open a text file and read till page 6, the next time I open the app it starts from page 6 and not from the beginning.
3-Font choices and Background color: Gives you the option to change the color of the background. Also, the more fonts and styles it has the better.

I need a good pdf viewer, on the market there are two (> 4 stars) cheap options (AFAIK)BeamReader (1.99)RepliGo (1.99). I only find comparison between Beamreader and docs2go(9.99) and many of you point that d2g can do more that beamreader, but I don't need to read office files (I do use open office and D2g doesn't seem to be able to read pdf). I didn't find a direct comparison between the first two options so which is better Beamreader or Repligo and why?

I'm a writer and I tend to write in the .rtf (Rich Text File) format. I have Dropbox and I'd like to be able to pull up my .rtf files on the phone from Dropbox to go over them. The trouble is, I can't find a good .rtf editor or viewer program to do so. I don't really need the editing function, just a viewer will do. I have Astro as well. Phone is an Evo with Sprint.

I want to be able to open a pdf file in my app using the android's built in pdf viewer app, but i dont know how to start other apps. I'm sure i have to call start activity, i just dont know how to identify the app im opening and how to pass the file to that specific app.I just learned that the pdf viewer i have on my phone is actually made by HTC and that Adobe just barely released their android pdf viewer (which is great). So the new question is this: how do i verify that the user has installed adobe's viewer, and then how do i open the file in that app from my app?

When I get my Incredible, I have an urgent need for a PDF reader that actually works well. It does not have to be free. My file size ranges up to 11mb. If I can't find one for Android, then I may have to carry two devices. I want to replace my Ipod Touch which has PDF apps with my Incredible. Can't wait for the 29th.
