Android :: Looking For A Better Image / Picture Viewer

We can view an image with What if we have some images? How can we put the extras to let the viewer know we have /sdcard/a.jpg, /sdcard/b.jpg, /sdcard/c.jpg ? I hope to do this in a time because starting an activity is very expensive. Code...
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust wondering if its possible to use the built in image viewer to display an image sourced from a database. I'm hoping I can pass the byte[] as an extra to the ACTION_VIEW intent, but can't find any docs on it so far. Alternatively I'll have to roll my own viewer or first write the image out to a file and pass that to the intent.

Going to keep looking. What I am looking for is to flick through photos, which picture viewer does, but also being able to pan around pic if zoomed in. Also automatic search of SD card for folders with pictures.

View 8 Replies View RelatedRecently my phone only shows my pictures in low resolution until I zoom in a tiny bit, then suddenly it sharpens into the full quality image. Is it suddenly displaying low res thumbnails for my images until I try looking at them? It never did this before, and it's not a 2.2 change as it started doing it a day or two before I updated it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI do these actions on Android G1 2 times: open gallery -> view image -> Capture screen-shot -> Go back -> exist from gallery.
But captured screen-shots of 2 times are difference: the above and below background of image viewer of first time is lighter Grey, while second time is darker.
2 screen-shots:
First time: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4064/4252991345_6ee5777bf5_o.png ,
Second time:[url]
I repeat again many time, and the "light Grey" and "dark Grey" background are alternate occurred.
Why backgrounds are not the same ? some Android optimization, cache, etc... Could you help me to find reason?
Use Picture Viewer to read e-books and such... Well, try to. It seems it does show the files in order? By that, I mean alphabetically by filename. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have the url of an image. What i need to do is launch the default image viewer for images using an intent. But it doesn't work. If I do not specify the type of data, the intent launches the browser since the data is a url. It works basically (since you can see the image on the browser) but what I would like is to have the gallery display the image for me.I can also download the image into a Bitmap but I would still not know how to display the Bitmap using the gallery (if that's even possible).I tried saving the bitmap to the cache and then launch the viewer on that file but it doesn't work. Can you spot any mistakes on my code? (The Utilities class is a class i wrote.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOk I have been trying to figure this out for a while. I have an application that needs to read images from a folder created by the application on the sdcard. I have no idea what the names of the files are because the user specifies the names of the files. I need to read the images from the folder and make something like the default image viewer, where you can share them delete them and things like that. Im thinking read them into a grid view first but 1) cant figure out how to dynamically read them from a folder 2) how would I implement the image options like the default viewer? If there was a way to open the default viewer on a certain folder that would help.
Anyways any input would be amazing been working on it for a while.
I'm looking for an app that will allow me to view photos stored on my computer. I can access the computers on my home network from my Incredible using Astro or ES File Explorer "LAN" and open various file formats such as .pdf, .doc, .xls fine on my Droid; however, I am unable to open and view any type of image files (.jpg, .bmp, .gif, etc.) unless they are stored on my SD card or in the Droid memory itself.
When I try to open a image file stored outside the Droid, nothing appears on the Droid screen. I have installed several "image viewer" apps, such as Astro and 3D Gallery, none of which seem to be able to open remotely stored files. When I "click" on an image file, I see "Loading Image", but all that appears is a black screen with left and right arrow scroll buttons -- no pictures. Any advice, other than to copy and paste image files to my SD card, which then allows me to open and view them? I did get the 2.2 update.
As the title says, i've lost the default image viewer. My phone had a minor update which changed the way it receives further updates and added Backup & Restore.
But since I have lost the default image viewer. So without crappy mediascape I'm no longer able to click through my images, zoom and set as wallpaper. Has anyone else come across this? Is there a way I can download default software again? Pretty agrovate about this, x10 has been a nightmare since day 1.
I am trying to create an android app that will let me display images fullscreen with next and previous buttons on top to change between them.
Can anybody point me to some tutorials where i can find instructions on something similar?
If not, what is the best method to use to get the images into the app? I have tried several ways from creating object classes for the images and instantiating it with a drawable in each using the Bitmap Factory to return the image but that won't work.
I am a beginner to android and could really use reference material but can't find anything useful that covers this subject.
The HTC magic has following application:

Is possible to install these application on Vodafone Magic or at least the PDF Viewer?
I've searched and couldn't come up with an answer. I currently have a Droid Eris so I'm running 1.5. Is it possible to add an image to an email signature? (I've already edited my signature I would just like to add a logo) If it is not possible in 1.5, is it possible in newer version of Android? (2.0?)
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm writing an application for Android. I need to make some image processing on the picture taken from camera.I use Camera.PictureCallback to get the photo, and I get picture in byte array. The problem is I want to make operations on every pixel of photo (some filtering and other stuff) so I guess, have photo in byte array is not a bad idea. But I don't know how interpret information in this byte array... The only way I know to make the processing is use BitmapFactory.decodeByteArray() and then use Bitmap object. Is this a good way to handle a lot of image processing?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a Droid with Touchdown, which works perfectly except for one issue. Any picture/image that comes through in emails in Touchdown gets saved into the Gallery, making it very large and hard to open. I have figured out where to delete these images, but it is sort of a pain to have to go in and delete them out every couple of days. Is there some sort of setting that I am missing in Touchdown to prevent this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm developing an app for Android 2.1 upwards. I want to enable my users to select a profile picture within my app (I'm not using the contacts framework). The ideal solution would be to fire an intent that enables the user to select an image from the gallery, but if an appropriate image is not available then use the camera to take a picture (or vice-versa i.e. allow user to take picture but if they know they already have a suitable image already, let them drop into the gallery and pick said image). Currently I can do one or the other but not both.
If I go directly into camera mode using MediaStore.ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE then there is no option to drop into the gallery. If I go directly to the gallery using Intent.ACTION_PICK then I can pick an image but if I click the camera button (in top right hand corner of gallery) then a new camera intent is fired. So, any picture that is taken is not returned directly to my application. (Sure you can press the back button to drop back into the gallery and select image from there but this is an extra unnecessary step and is not at all intuitive). So is there a way to combine both or am I going to have to offer a menu to do one or the other from within my application? Seems like it would be a common use case, surely I'm missing something?
On the G1 camera app, there's a handsome looking camera button which you can press to signal the app to take the picture. It's a round button with a little camera icon in it. Is that button resource available in android.R? I'd like to use it in my own app if possible?

Does anyone know how to set a picture as your wallpaper without cropping the image to fit all 7 screens on the evo. Basically I had a wallpaper app called "shake them up" which allowed me to set any of my pictures as the wallpaper without cropping them. After the latest update the app is making me crop like the phone does.

I've only tested by sending to myself so far but each time I get two examples of the same photo, but within the same MMS if you see what I mean i.e. I don't get two separate messages. Very odd and bloody annoying if I'm getting charged 40p each time instead of 20p! (O2)

Can anyone tell me how it actually works?
On what basis it Scale the image?
What are the parameters it considers to stretch image?
Every time I set a picture to a contact, or change my home screen background I have to crop it. This wouldn't be so much an issue if the crop wasn't so destructive to the picture! Why can't I just use the whole picture? Why does the crop force me to cut out most of it?
