So I was browsing my fav NHL teams website (Capitals Baby) and I came across this page. Washington Capitals Smartphone Applications - Washington Capitals - Fan Zonem It has a link for an Android smartphone but when I download it, I am not sure how to get it onto my phone or where to put it. This may be a Noob question, I have Astro file managment on my phone but I am not sure what to do next after I have it downloaded on my computer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the url of an image. What i need to do is launch the default image viewer for images using an intent. But it doesn't work. If I do not specify the type of data, the intent launches the browser since the data is a url. It works basically (since you can see the image on the browser) but what I would like is to have the gallery display the image for me.I can also download the image into a Bitmap but I would still not know how to display the Bitmap using the gallery (if that's even possible).I tried saving the bitmap to the cache and then launch the viewer on that file but it doesn't work. Can you spot any mistakes on my code? (The Utilities class is a class i wrote.

Suppose, I set Display/Screen timeout to 10 sec just before locking and blackness, the screen seems to "dim", it looks as if the lights in the back of the screen is turned off, but the screen is on/visible and it is very comfortable especially at night. screen filter & cf lumen CAN NOT & DOES NOT do this(atleast I couldn't do it).
Is there any way to achieve tjis? similar to editing some system file to turn off softkey button backlight?
Why are SMARTphones soo... Freaking Dumb?
I have implemented an activity that retrieves data from a web service and display it in the AutoCompleteTextView. This has been working quite well.I'm interested in displaying a spinning animation while the data is being retrieved (The same effect like the Quick Search Box) I try to figure out how the QSB is doing it (10x Open Source!) but couldn't find any place where the spinner image is being put/set/drawn onto the EditText control.

I do a lot of science-type stuff (astronomy), and also photograph at night. I used a red-tinted flashlight, so as to not ruin my night vision. I would love to be able to use my phone while shooting, or doing astronomy stuff out in the dark, and not have bright white glow from the phone.
I don't know what's wrong with my phone, but the screen display is messed up. Sometimes, the screen will display if I keep clicking the power button one-hundred times, but other than that it won't budge. Everything thing else works when I press the power button, the keyboard lights up, the home button and other buttons light, just not the screen. Like I said, I have to repeatedly press the power button so that in a slight chance, the screen might display.

We are using Samsung Galaxy mobile running on T-Mobile & AT&T cellular networks.
We notice during telephone calls, either dialing outgoing or incoming calls, the display turn off almost immediately when the telephone calls started.
Is there anyway to keep the display turn on all during the entire telephone calls?
I understand you can make all the hard buttons to wake up your phone by modify rhis register, HKCUControl PanelKeybd and create REG_DWORD "DefaultKeyLock" Value "0"
step by step instruction on how to modify this register inside Android?
Can anyone show me documentation or give me a quick web sample of how to display an image from the web. I read up on the drawables section in the android reference, but I either missed it, or its covered in another section.

I just switched from WebOS so I'm quite a noob to Android. Anyways, I bought a new Samsung Galaxy Nexus with Android 4.4.
Now to my issue: I like to watch video streams. The problem is, that the display will turn automatically off.
Solutions:
1. Play a stream with a video player - how can I do this?
2. Change settings so the display will not switch off on a stream, but will turn off when idle - is this even possible?
3. Turn off "turn off display when idle" setting - but I don't like this one.
Just wondering if its possible to use the built in image viewer to display an image sourced from a database. I'm hoping I can pass the byte[] as an extra to the ACTION_VIEW intent, but can't find any docs on it so far. Alternatively I'll have to roll my own viewer or first write the image out to a file and pass that to the intent.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking about purchasing HTC Tattoo and I'd like to know a few things first. Does the display turn off completely after some time? Or is there still small status bar (like on normal phones) that you could use to tell whether there is missed call/SMS and perhaps clock? And, more importantly, is there some kind of status LED present, that could tell you the same thing? If there is, is it easy to notice (good position and blinks somewhat frequently, not like my work phone where I have to stare 10 seconds on some tiny spot to see whether it flashes or not)?

Most pdf viewers you can pinch to zoom. That really is not convenient when trying to read something pinching in and out, scrolling, etc. I am looking for a better solution. Most of the stuff I read is almost readable without zooming. I was hoping to find something that when I touch the screen, whatever is under/around my finger, it zooms that in a box. Then I can just keep moving my finger and seeing stuff zoomed and lift my finger to see the whole page.
I'm reading on a 10" tablet.
Anything out there like that or that is more usable for reading pdfs?
knows a pdf reader that zoom in width and height to fill the screen page? most only zooms to width and i have some extra space at the bottom and top of my screen that are wasted. i dont mind a slight distortion of the page that allows for a bigger view.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe best txt viewer/editor for Microsoft Windows is Notepad ++. It's such a shame we don't have something like that on Android. Anyways, I need a Text Editor with the following features:
1-Full-screen mode: A mode the fills the whole screen. I mean no menu, no toolbar, no nothing! What I need for the app is to fill the whole screen when I put the phone in horizontal position. I don't need to see a menu bar on battery percentage when I'm reading a book.
2-Last Position: Remembers the place of your last visit. For instance, if I open a text file and read till page 6, the next time I open the app it starts from page 6 and not from the beginning.
3-Font choices and Background color: Gives you the option to change the color of the background. Also, the more fonts and styles it has the better.
I have ordered a Zenithink ZT-180-102A and plan to use it to view sheet music for the band I play in, and turn the pages with a USB foot switch that sends a PgDn key to Acrobat Reader.
I would think that the tablet will be (just) big enough to view A4 PDF sheet music at 10.1" (would have preferred slightly bigger).I'm hoping Adobe Acrobat Reader for Android can go full screen and respond to PgDn messages.Battery life seems a bit light, but figure I can run it from the power adapter if required.how well the screen would work in sunlight. If I'm reading the foot switch description right, I can configure the key press via the software on a Windows machine, then plug it directly into the Zenithink as a standard HID device.
