View 8 Replies View RelatedEver since I updated, whenever I use the Advanced Task Killer to close all the apps, some of them open automatically right away. Over 10 apps open by themselves since the update. I never had this problem before the update.

My Xoom Tablet has been running the older verison of the youtube app since I got it because I really liked the interface and don't like the new version my GN has. So I was just changing a wall paper on my Xoom and all a sudden BAM it reboots and starts back up. a little strange but then I see my notifications going off. [xapp] successfully updated. I was like WHAT ..I check whats going on and I see Youtube at 90%.. you bastard all my apps updated and the check on all google apps has been applied to auto update.
I never heard of this happening so i did a quick search on the Google and i only saw this thread.Google Play Store just auto updated all my apps on its own WTF - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com
now i got to search for a old apk of the older youtube. or see if a factory reset will give me the old version back.
Is i install an app or game from an apk. file via sd card, is ther anyway at all to update to the more recent version?
View 10 Replies View RelatedHow do I replace builtin apps with the latest versions as they are eating up the internal storage...
As google play, Maps, voice search, Gmail, Google search...
These apps take a lot of memory space ... So i am looking for a solution so that the outdated apps of factory versions can be totally removed and replaced with updated versions...
I know this has been brought up in the past, but last mention of this is about 3 months ago. And in those 3 months, there have been probably thousands more new apps out there for our phone. So, what are the favorites? And what are must-haves? This goes for games as well. Are there games that are still getting constant play on your phone? In my opinion, Handcent and Shapewriter seem to be my favorite and necessary ones. As for games, I keep playing Cestos.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been gone for awhile with life stuff, sorry this wasn't updated. I wont be updating this as I don't have an Eris anymore, but if you want the best info head over to XDA Eris Android Development section. Or if your looking for Android News or other tech news head over to: Hope to see you all in the Incredible or Droid X section. Remember.... ?Never take a person's dignity: it is worth everything to them, and nothing to you.? 2.1 LEAKS & RELEASES & ROOT
I think it's getting confusing w/ all these releases. Let's summarize:Original root: Filename PB00IMG.zip. An "unofficial official" ROM that provides you with initial root. Can only be flashed from a phone running 1.5. Not to be confused with any of the "unofficial official" 2.1 leaks that don't have root.
2.1 leak: Filename PB00IMG.zip. Also an "unofficial official" ROM that upgrades your 1.5 phone to a 2.1 un-rooted OS. New 2.1 leak: Filename PB00IMG.zip. Another "unofficial official" ROM that upgrades your 1.2 or "2.1 leak" phone to the most recently available un-rooted version of Android 2.1.
** By "unofficial official" I mean that the ROM's are signed by HTC and must be installed from the phone's bootloader. We cannot edit and repack files to be loaded using the phone's stock bootloader, as we cannot sign these ROM's ourselves...........
I would like to know whats some free ringer apps? browser apps? fb apps? music apps? and theme apps?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI did a search here on PAR2 and QUICK PAR and found nothing. I download binaries from Usenet. These binaries are commonly checked for completeness and if need be, repair, by using a utility called QUICK PAR. It is made for Windows but can be used on Linux using Wine. I am wondering if there is a version or equivalent for use on my Droid X. A Google search turns up nothing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf you are like me and have been using Quick Profiles (free in the market) to easily change system settings do yourself a favor and check out Quick Profile Pro (about $1.10). I has a very convenient widget to change profiles and now gives you a choice of 115 icons to assign to each profile (I used to use Bettercut to skin the icons - this is much easier). Quick Profiles has always been one of my most trouble free time savers (I have profiles set for my car (turns on my bluetooth and keeps screen on), work (lowers ringtones, turns of wifi and changes wallpaper), home (everything cranked up) and night (sound off). I purchased the addon to show my support for the developer. I had no idea how well thought out and implemented they designed the widget and assignable icons. This is a real keeper
View 11 Replies View RelatedI just got a HTC Evo and I'm still new to using Android (which seems awesome so far).I send a lot of photos via email to one particular person, up to a dozen times each day. Just this one particular person. Is there a way I can create a quick shortcut for sending a photo to them, and avoid the Share -> Gmail -> type email address. Are you sure you want to share without text, etc, process? I know it's not much, but I do this very frequently and the time adds up.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I DL a pdf file as an attachment to an email, Quickoffice opens it and lets me read it. When I use the OIFileManager I can see the pdf file in the downloads folder on my SD card and it is displayed with a Quickoffice icon. Clicking on the file launches the Quickoffice pdf viewer. When I look on the home menu I cannot find a Quickoffice icon. Where is quickoffice- is it integrated into android OS? I need to search text and/or pdf files for specific text- example: ADA procedure codes for dentistry. I have a list in both pdf and text format but can't find a way to search it for "crown".Is there an app (maybe a part of Quickoffice?) that will search for and highlight text in a text or pdf file?

View 1 Replies View RelatedToday you can get "Documents to go" for $5.55 (Normally $29.95) but I am not really sure what I would gain over the included Quickoffice ap. I could be wrong but I believe quick office is read only while documents to go allows editing.Anyone else know the difference?
Ignoring price, what one is better functionality wise? Quickoffice came preinstalled on my Dinc, don't know if thats a gimped version or not.

Recently I was asked if I could help someone to get quick-started to android programming.
What would you suggest to tell this person? Would you explain everything by hand or just refer to external links? Which ressources would you recommend? This whole issue should not take too much time...assuming 2-3 hours.
Once my access to this issue was "Professional android application development". Java basics are already preconditioned, so there's no need to explain ANYTHING.
For avoiding any misconceptions: This shall be just a quick start, no reference or something like this, so I just need some keywords and a hint how deeply go through it.
I'm interesting in incorporating the Android UI pattern called "Quick Action". Basically, it's a context menu that doesn't cover up the data that is being acted on. I'd like to implement this but I cannot find an API to help me out or some sample code.
Note this UI pattern is discussed in the YouTube video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1ZBjlCRfz0#t=15m20s.
Does anyone have an implementation of this or know what google's standard for adding this to an application?
I have old version of my app installed in the G1, and then I copy the apk file of new version to the SD card. When I install the new version from SD card, it raises a error: 07-08 22:11:05.396: DEBUG/(1748): unable to unlink '/data/data/ com.android.packageinstaller/files/myapp.apk': No such file or directory (errno=2) btw: I do not want to uninstall the app, I just want to update the app when I install the new version of app.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhilst browsing in here and on the web for ways to save battery life, I came across an app for turning on and off WiFi, backlight, bluetooth etc. It had a totally different layout to Quick Settings. The screen appeared to have about 12 square buttons, for quick on/off functionality of the usual stuff. WiFi, bluetooth etc. One of the buttons near the bottom right corner was 2G/3G. Does anyone know which app this may be, from my super description? I like the simple one screen does all layout, which was easy to understand. Can't remember if it was from a link in here, or from another site.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI always configure the UI of my mobile phones with english. But I write sms in French, German, English & Spanish. Android does not seem to offer the possibility to quickly change the input language of the keyboard. It looks like UI language both determines keyboard layout and input language, which is EXTREMELY inconvenient for someone using several languages on a daily basis. Does it exist a workaround, an external app or a feature I oversaw to solve this MAJOR drawback?
