Oct 7, 2010Can apps that were moved to the SD card be updated or do I have to move them back to the phone to update them?

HTC Incredible :: Moved To SD Card Uninstalled Apps?
Nov 22, 2010I recently got the app, Advanced SD card something. IDK the full name but searching Advanced SD will find it.Anyway, I turn on my phone after moving all my apps to my SD card, and many, if not most, are all missing. Like, my home screen has the empty boxes as my apps icons and I go to that app menu thing and they are missing. I try to find them but I cannot. I try to re-install them but I cannot.

Aug 16, 2010Of all the apps on my Droid, I only found 15 that could be moved. For testing I moved 1.. but where did it go? I expected to find it in a new directory or as an apk at the root of the SD card. No such luck. Any ideas?

I know you can't install Game Apps directly to an external SD Card but can the Games be moved to the SD Card from the Tablet's on board storage so I can free up storage space then later on move the Game Apps from the SD Card back to the Tablet's onboard storage? If so what is the process of doing that?

Android :: Installed App Twice / Moved To SD Card
Nov 12, 2010I did a dumb thing. First, I installed Angry Birds (this was not the dumb thing, by the way, unless you count how much of my life it has consumed) and then moved the app to the SD card.The dumb thing was that a while later I was charging my phone via my computer (and I was in Disk Drive mode) and I went to play the game. Well, the icon was wrong and the game wouldn't play, so I panicked thinking that I might have lost all my progress. I went out to the market and re-downloaded the game. Whew! All my progress was still there.Later the whole you-just-couldn't-access-your-SD-card-at-the-moment-you-idiot thing sank in and I realized I had the app on both the card and in phone storage. So I went into Applications and tried to move it to the SD card, but I got an error (presumably because it's already there). So now it's taking up room in phone storage and I don't want it to. I'm afraid if I uninstall the app completely that I really will lose my progress. Any suggestions?

Aug 11, 2010Love apps so was pleased to get 2.2 and start moving stuff over to create space but noticed than when an app moves, it typically takes up a lot less space.
As an example, install alchemy today:
Space according to market = 2.08MB
Without running, app manager space reported = 2.35MB
Move to SD
Space reported = 276KB
I haven't done any kind of detailed research so I'm not sure why this is but would make a guess at the install/temp files being disposed of when they move...?? Makes sense to me, all apps still work fine but take up much less space.

Jan 6, 2014i decided to download a bunch of games, i never used enough applications to need to move them to my sd, but since i downloaded a lot of them some started to get installed to the sd and i manually moved some of them too to the sd card. But while i was still downloading more apps, some of them started to show the android icon, and when i tried to run them they crashed. The weird part is that it was just some of them.
phone to reload and see the apps, but that just made it worst since those, and some others went totally missing from the drawer. Is not because the launcher loads before the sd card is read because i already checked that.So i went to settings>applications and discovered that all those applications are listed there but listed with their other name (dont know how to call it, but is like "com.developer.app" ). All of the missing apps are like that and i cant run them.
- I have formatted the sd using gparted, same behavior
- I have formatted the sd and the internal (sd?) with the phone
- I have done a factory reset with no luck
- I have runned fsck in both internal and external sd's
- The files of the applications are in the .android_secure folder in the external sd card "app.asec"
- The sd card is working (files music, everything else is working)
- I dont know what else to do, I want to be able to use my sd card to install apps
HTC Incredible :: Disappearing Moved Photos IMAG.jpg From Phone Storage To SD Card?
Jun 2, 2010I recently changed the storage location on my Incredible's camera from Phone Storage to Storage Card (i.e., my SD card). Yesterday I decided to move the previsouly taken photos "IMAG*.jpg" from the phone storage to the SD card and used the Astro app to perform this move. I made the mistake of using "move" rather than "copy-paste". Something went wrong and somehow none of the "imag*.jpg" that were previously on my phone's internal storage are neither there nor on the SD card.
Where could these files have disappeared to? Is there a "Trash" folder in Android like in Windows where these jpg files could be still hidden? Anyway to recover them? Using the search feature on Astro didn't reveal any of the newly disappeared jpg files.
Here's what I did using the Astro app:
step 1: navigated to /emmc/DCIM/100MEDIA
step 2: clicked on multi and selected all the jpg files there (about 15 or so), i.e., all file names turned orange.
step 3: clicked on Edit, selected Move.
step 4: navigated to /sdcard/DCIM/100MEDIA which already had a few images that I had taken since changing the default storage location in my camera.
step 5: clicked on EDIT, selected Paste.
That's when I got a message saying "unable to move" or some such error - I don't recall the exact words and I had to click ok only for the same error to appear again some 15 more times. I guess it appeared once per image.
I went back to /emmc/DCIM/100MEDIA (the phone storage location) and to /sdcard/DCIM/100MEDIA (SD card location) but the files aren't there in either location. Please note that I'm a noob to Android having only used Windows Mobile OS phones in the past. I appreciate any help and insight in this matter so that I don't loose files more important than some randomly taken pics.

Oct 1, 2010So with the last few ROMs I've had installed, I've tried moving apps to the sdcard. I figured it would be a good thing, even if I wasn't running out of room. Every time I move more than just a few apps to the sdcard, my whole phone starts getting laggy. I just moved all of my apps back to phone and the "lagginess" is gone. I currently have UD8.0 installed, but it has behaved this way with LFY and Pete's BB ROMs as well. So it doesn't seem to be a ROM related.

My Xoom Tablet has been running the older verison of the youtube app since I got it because I really liked the interface and don't like the new version my GN has. So I was just changing a wall paper on my Xoom and all a sudden BAM it reboots and starts back up. a little strange but then I see my notifications going off. [xapp] successfully updated. I was like WHAT ..I check whats going on and I see Youtube at 90%.. you bastard all my apps updated and the check on all google apps has been applied to auto update.
I never heard of this happening so i did a quick search on the Google and i only saw this thread.Google Play Store just auto updated all my apps on its own WTF - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com
now i got to search for a old apk of the older youtube. or see if a factory reset will give me the old version back.

I think it's getting confusing w/ all these releases. Let's summarize:Original root: Filename PB00IMG.zip. An "unofficial official" ROM that provides you with initial root. Can only be flashed from a phone running 1.5. Not to be confused with any of the "unofficial official" 2.1 leaks that don't have root.
2.1 leak: Filename PB00IMG.zip. Also an "unofficial official" ROM that upgrades your 1.5 phone to a 2.1 un-rooted OS. New 2.1 leak: Filename PB00IMG.zip. Another "unofficial official" ROM that upgrades your 1.2 or "2.1 leak" phone to the most recently available un-rooted version of Android 2.1.
** By "unofficial official" I mean that the ROM's are signed by HTC and must be installed from the phone's bootloader. We cannot edit and repack files to be loaded using the phone's stock bootloader, as we cannot sign these ROM's ourselves...........

With a 8 gb class 4 card. I created a 500 mb EX2 partition. Using AppsToSD, I moved all applications, but not the cache, as I have been advised that the class 4 sd could have slowdown issues moving the cache as well. I have about 45 apps on the phone. The available internal memory is sitting at 16 mb available. Does this sound about right? It seems low to me.

I know you can call MapViewObject.getMapCenter() to get a GeoPoint of the center of the map, but where would I place that code so that it is called every time the user moves the map or zooms in/out?
