View 2 RepliesFor some reason, whenever I send out an email to someone that's not in my contact list, it appears as a new contact under the people app, with the email address listed. I don't want it to automatically add these emails to my contacts. Is there a way I can stop this, besides un-syncing my Gmail account?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI would like to implement the similar widget as QuickContactBadge from which I can launch some internal activities. I checked out the source code for QuickContactBadge, QuickContactActivity etc and simplified them to accommodate our requests. It can launch and display at correct position. However, I can not see the original view below the quick contact tack no matter how I try. And I found the window created by QuickContactWindow is quite small and I tried to set the background etc. Nothing works. Who can help or give some guidance about how window works? Say, from Activity A, I click on image, I launch a new activity (or window), how can I make the Window of Activity A is still visible? Or more general, what is the best way to achieve similar behavior like QuickContactBadge?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to create custom popup window like 'Quick Contact' or the one in official Twitter application (image attached) ? I've read the Contact app source code (downloaded from git) but still confused, it seems to use internal api.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like to add an quick contact option to the Quick Contact window that displays for a contact. How do I get this option to show up when the user taps on a contact? I looked at the Facebook and Twitter applications and can see that they have this:
Facebook:
CODE:................
Twitter:
CODE:................
First of all, I am not sure that the snippets above are *really* what get used to plug into the quick contacts. It's just an educated guess. I still am at a bit of a loss to figure out exactly how to plug into the quick contact window (for example, which xml/java file did Facebook/Twitter apps use to declare their intent to plug into the quick contact window, declare the icon to show etc?).
I am not specifically interested in Facebook/Twitter, its just that these apps have plugged into the new API successfully. I am just looking for an end to end example (ideally) or simply pointers to how to integrate my contacts sync info into the quick contacts menu.
I have a relatively new EVO 4G, and I've noticed that for some reason trying to chat with a contact using Talk and Quick Contacts doesn't work. When I pop up the Quick Contact for a person who's online, I see a second dialer icon. When I press that, it gives me the option to use various chat methods, including Talk (and Skype). However, when I choose Talk, it asks me to "Complete action using" and gives me a huge list of things, but none of which are Talk.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got a Sprint Hero and when I try to send a 1MB photo, it basically freezes up my Gmail on my smartphone. Is that normal? I've tried to do it a few times, but it just says "sending" for longer than 10 minutes. It even sort of crashes my phone by hogging all the data and not letting me surf the internet or sync with Remember the Milk and other data reliant apps.I hate this Sprint Hero, by the way (unrooted, running OS 2.1). It's a genuine POS.It's so laggy (takes literally 10 F'n seconds to call someone after I dial the number).I've honestly almost smashed it on the ground twice it's so laggy.When I'm in a hurry, I can't stand it's lagginess.It's amazing to me this phone was released to the public with such an egregious lag time on almost everything I do (most noticeably the phone, which is simple compared to other apps).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get my new DX configured to my liking and am thrilled....except that I can't get Contact Quick Tasks to behave. I'm using Launcher Pro and suspect that's the problem. But what I need is to be able to one-touch dial a dozen or so contacts. (What a concept!) Is there a workaround or some other widget or app that can get me quick access to "speed dial"?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThere doesn't seem to be an easy way to dial from the contact list. When I am driving I need a quick way to dial.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI figured I'd give everyone a heads up in regards to the Motorola Contact Quick Tasks Widget not working with Launcher Pro. You can use any of the stock Motorola widgets with Launcher Pro but they can not be re-sized. The only one that does not work is the Contact Quick Tasks, it will appear on the screen but when you try adding the type of task (text, phone) you get a message, saying that it needs to be re-sized, which you can not do with LP.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI switched to Launcher Pro and I'm loving it so far. However, one of my favorite Motorola widgets was Contact Quick Tasks. It doesn't work since Launcher Pro doesn't support sizable widgets.Are there any widgets similar to Contact Quick Tasks?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I have the contact id, how do I send an SMS/email (aka text) to it? I've seen code like this, but none are using the contact it.
Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_SEND);
intent.setType("text/plain");
intent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_TEXT, text);
act.startActivityForResult(Intent.createChooser(intent, ""), 0);
I must be missing something really obvious, but can someone tell me how I can send a text message to more than one contact in Handcent please? If I manage to do this, will all the recipients of that message be able to jointly read what everyone says like an email or facebook message? Maybe I'm asking too much?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've just rooted and Villian 2.1ified my Orange Hero.Now I swear there was an easy way to link contacts to their fb profiles, but now I can only find a way to manually do it one contact at a time. With alot of contacts, this could take somewhere between three to four years.
View 5 Replies View RelatedOr any other smartphone for that matter. I thought this would be a basic feature. I came from the blackberry where this was simple using blackberry messenger. View 1 Replies View RelatedAs of today, I cannot send or reply to gmail messages on my Razr Maxx phone. I can receive messages, however. It worked fine yesterday and in prior weeks.
To try to fix this, I went to gmail in my browser and made sure I did not have too many devices open (a problem I encountered earlier this week). I also cleared the data and cache on my phone and rebooted. Still no luck. I can send messages via gmail in Thunderbird, so the problem appears to be partly phone related. It is my primary account, so I can't delete it without going back to factory settings, which I wish to avoid.
I have a small problem with my G1 that is driving me slightly insane. Hopefully someone has a suggestion.
If this is already covered - I couldn't find it, so please point me in the right direction.
I have my G1 sync'ing with my gmail for contacts (obviously), and a large number of my gmail contacts have pictures associated with them.
This all works fine for a while, and then... consistently... after a few days... the pictures on my contacts get messed up. They kinda swap around, and some of them seem to use random pictures which have been linked to contacts in the past, or perhaps even not at all.
I do not know whether this is getting messed up on my G1, and replicated to gmail, or the other way around, but I can't stop it happening and its massively annoying.
Any other information can be provided, but if anyone else has this problem or knows how I might fix it, it would probably save my sanity greatly.
I cannot figure out how to send an e-mail to an entire groups as with the web interface.For example, if I have a group called "Group 1" that has 10 Contacts in it, I want to type "Group 1" in the "To:" field and e-mail all 10 contacts.

Please enlighten me as to how to send a contact to another contact via MMS.
On my new Android phone I setup my Google Voice number and set it as my primary number to use on the phone. I have had the phone for 3 days and have had my Google Voice acct for over a year with never an issue with it. This morning, the only change I made to my Android phone was adding
an app from the app store called "Facebook Touch". About 2 hours later, I learned that every contact on my Google Voice contact list, which I did a sync with on my phone, got SPAM
with the same SPAM - It was texted out to everyone, here was the message -
Dear, I have tried to purchase some products from a business company, I have attracted by high quality products, low price and enthusiastic services, I think if you are free, you can go to see: styleele.com, picking your interesting <<followed by a link here>>
I can't imagine that it could not have come from the phone. Maybe from that Facebook Touch app as that application had a lot of SPAM just within the application itself (its not deleted).
I am using Gmail and can only send E-mail when connected to wifi. I am connected to vodafone with a 3g connection and unable to send any thing, what am I doing wrong.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs it possible in Android to programmatically send an email using the phone's associated GMail credentials? I can send an email when I explicitly provide the username and password, but I was hoping to leverage the Google account already associated with the phone. Note that I don't need to actually access the username or password; I just want to leverage this information indirectly to send email.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I have several of my own pictures that I have assigned to my GMail Contacts (I assigned them on the web, and they synced to my Droid X automatically). Recently, I noticed when I get emails to my GMail account from these contacts on my Droid X (using the default Droid X GMail app) their contact picture is not displaying in the email. Some of these people (but not all) even have their own Google account that they have assigned their own picture to, and even that isn't displaying. All that displays next to their Name/Email address is the default, gray Android robot - NOT their Contact picture. Unrelated, I've also noticed that on some of my emails in the GMail app, instead of showing "John Smith" as the sender, it displays their email address (JohnSmith99@aol.com). And I have this email address listed in their Contact information on my Droid X - why does it not display their name as I have it in my Droid X Contact list? I can understand if the email address is not anywhere in my Contacts, but it is. It makes little sense and is extremely frustrating.
