HTC Hero :: Phone Sending An Auto Text When I Miss A Call?
Feb 19, 2010I missed a call from my husband this morning and he said that he immediately received a text from me saying i was busy and would call him later. Well, I had not sent the message and yet there it is. Have looked and looked for a feature that may be causing that. I use Handscent. Any helpful info? I have had this phone 4 months and this has never happened.

Feb 6, 2010On my previous phone it had a "full lock" feature on it that when a text message or phone call came in it would show all stars on the screen and require my password before you could answer the call or view the text message does the hero have that option or is there an app I can download?
I tried the pattern lock thing it has but if a call comes through or a text message comes through it still allows you to answer and/or view the message without entering the lock pattern..

Nov 8, 2010Does the Dinc have a way of ending the call automatically when the other party hang up without me having to physically push the end button. I guess this is useful when talking while driving and you know the phone will end the call when you set it aside instead of having to look on the screen. Is there a way to display while calling if the call is connected or the other party still has not picked up the phone.

Up until 1.6 the ellipsize attribute on my view above functions as I would expect. Since upgrading to 1.6 the ellipsize attribute, regardless of what I set it to (start, middle, end) seems to be ignored.
KitKat 4.4 :: Phone Auto-dialing New Call After Hanging Up With Another Caller?
Mar 16, 2014noticed something weird with KitKat, and confirmed this on two different phones (Nexus 5 and Moto G but running latest KitKat 4.4.2). On occasion (not every time) the phone seems to auto dial someone after you've ended a call with someone else.
My wife reported the problem first with her Moto G. At first I thought she might just be accidentally hitting a button after calling someone (this is her first smart phone and first touch screen phone) but it's happened several times for her. Final catch was today when I clearly had it happen to me (it also appears it may have happened before once or twice on my phone). I had called someone using my bluetooth in my car, at the end of the call I pushed the hangup button on the steering wheel, and the call ended. Then my wife picked up the phone to call another person and we both noticed it was calling some other friend of ours (that I had txt'd with maybe 2 hours before). It had just started calling this person for no reason. We quickly ended the call (hopefully it didn't bug them), but wow is that annoying.
It seems to happen every once in a while right after hanging up with another call. It seems to call someone in either your recent call or txt history. I'm not sure what might trigger it as it doesn't happen every time, and I'm not sure what number it chooses to call (though it does appear to be someone you recently called or txt'd).

Apr 11, 2009Currently I'm using the default filter but I would like to be able to make it so I can ignore some letters at the beginning of the strings in the adapter. I've had a look at the public methods available on Multi Auto Complete Text View but can't find anything on how to pass my own filter to it. Any idea how to do this?

Jul 8, 2010I have recently upgraded from an Samsung Instinct to an HTC Hero. I am currently on my second phone. The first one had a major OS glitch. As the service tech stated it was possessed. I am into my new replacement for about 2 weeks now. Currently, I am having horrible luck with the phone. The keyboard lags, the phone auto dials random numbers while scrolling the phone book and today while talking to my wife it made a conference call to my wife. Also the weather feature on the clock won't update the location unless I manually refresh it. These are just a few of the things I have noticed. I currently am running advanced app killer to save on battery life and the phone is up to date on the software. My brother has an HTC Touch through T-Mobile and it rocks and I have other friends with android phones and they don't experience the same issues.

Oct 28, 2010A while back I was looking through either the stock messaging app or Handcent and saw an option to auto reply to text messages, and you could change the text to make it say whatever you needed it to say. Today I tried looking for that option again and didn't find anything. I searched on the forum but only found other apps that I would need to install in order to do this. Hopefully someone knows what option I am talking about or uses it. If not, I can always use Tasker to do this, but prefer to use the messaging apps.Edit: So I found the answer about 30 seconds after posting this. May 31, 2012I have set the stock messaging app to keep 75 text messages for each user. For some reason, once that 75 message point is exceeded, it only deletes the incoming messages. My replies are kept, and the total number goes above 75 indefinitely until I delete the long tail of my replies at the top of the thread. First, would I be correct in assuming that this is not normal behavior? Second, if that's correct, how do I fix this?
If it matters, I'm using an HTC Evo 3D with a rooted version of the stock ROM. The same problem happened before rooting. I don't believe this is a maker- or device-specific problem, but I'm happy to repost in the Evo 3D subforum if it is.
General :: Auto Forward Text Messages (and Respond) From Personal ATT IPhone To Work Android Phone
Jun 10, 2013 I am a longtime iPhone user and I have recently been given a Samsung Galaxy S3 by my employer. In the past I have just used my old Android phone for Tethering with FoxFi so I can have web access at work on my laptop. I literally never made any phone calls with it for over 2 years. I have had the calls forwarded from my Verizon Android phone to my ATT iPhone since the day I got it.
Currently I have a (PERSONAL) iPhone 4 on AT&T with a 3G connection and I have this (WORK CELL) Samsung Galaxy 3 on Verizon 4G LTE.
I would like the ability to fully test out the S3 and leave the iPhone at home if I so choose. Call forwarding either way is not a problem at all. I can forward my iPhone personal calls to my work cell and I can forward my work cell calls to my iPhone (Currently this is how I have it). Call forwarding works great but I am looking for a way to handle text messages in a similar manner.
I would like to have the ability to send and receive text messages using my personal number from my Android Phone. I have Google Voice installed on both phones but I cant seem to get it to work at all or I am not setting it up correctly. I would not mind having texts show up on both devices or in my Gmail inbox. There has to be a way to do this. That way if I leave either phone at home it not a big deal I don't have to carry two phones. Nobody ever texts my work number, my only texts received are to my personal cell.

Jun 7, 2010I have spent the last two years with the Instinct. Now with a couple days on the Evo I would like to comment on a couple of big improvements. I liked the Instinct and it was flawless as a phone. The Evo with its large screen blows it away. Colors on videos and in photos on web browsers are way better. I am a webmaster for a site that is very photo intensive and my opinion is that the Evo colors are very accurate. This is no small thing as our customers need to see the products clearly if they are to make buying decisions. Text in the browser will auto adjust when you expand the screen and I could read articles without my reading glasses which I need for almost everything. These two things make the web actually usable on my phone now.

Jul 20, 2010I'm looking for an alarm clock app with one very specific feature - allow me to set the alarm tone to automatically stop after X seconds, then start again at the next snooze interval, and play for another X seconds.
Sure it seems every alarm app out there allows me to set Snooze intervals and stuff, but with my waking up habit, I don't like to physically have to touch the phone to get it to shut up until the next snooze interval. I like to lay in bed and let the alarm go for like 3-4 snooze intervals before I finally wake up.
I've tried Alarm Clock PlusV2, Alarm Clock Xtreme, Quick Alarm. None of them seem to have this.
Android :: Task Panel Auto Kill Feature Not Auto-Killing?
Dec 7, 2009I installed it on my Droid and when I open the list and long press on an app it gives me the option to Auto-Kill. I assume this means I won't have to kill this app any longer so I select this option but I find that I keep having to kill the same apps over and over again. What's the point of Auto-Kill or what am I doing wrong? There are lots of programs (most I didn't even install) that run all the time and I'm having battery issues so I don't have battery to waste on programs I'm not using and will probably never use.

Apr 4, 2010Is there a way to tell Android to do the following when setting the background image for a TextView?
1. Scale the image so that it's just large enough to fill the the entire viewing area without any black borders, while still maintaining its aspect ratio. This might require clipping once the image is actually displayed, but that's OK (read on).
2. Then, center the image in the viewing area, both horizontally and vertically.
3. Finally, clip the image to the size of the viewing area, without any further rescaling.
I'm guessing that this kind of image processing is not automatically done via any of Android's facilities, and that I'll have to do it myself. If this is a correct assumption, could someone point me to some documentation or some examples which could explain how I can accomplish this? I'm guessing that I'll have to subclass my TextView and implement my own onDraw() method, but could someone confirm or deny that assumption?
Android :: Phone Recommendations That Have Specifically Ability To Call / Text?
Sep 15, 2010I'm looking to get an Android based phone and I thought I had decided on one, but since then I keep seeing other options and I'm not sure what to go with any more. It would be nice if anyone could point me to the best option for me. The only things I'm looking for in an android phone specifically is the ability to call, text (very little chance this won't be included :P) and GPS. I do not want a high-end one, and I certainly don't want one which has an enormous screen/form like the Desire, Galaxy S or likewise. I'm looking to spend no more than �250, but would prefer the option to be sub-�200 and possible to buy in the UK. I'm not looking for a contract or branded, and want to buy it outright, so importing can be an option assuming it's not troublesome. It's important that the tech be powerful enough that the UI isn't sluggish and is fairly responsive. A nice plus would be to have WiFi capability, with it being possible to tether. The phone I was originally looking at was the HTC Wildfire, and the only downside I could find about the phone was the screen resolution. Then I seen an announcement for the new LG Optimus One and became unsure and thought there may be another better option around.
