Can Android application request to download on SD card in android 2.1 and lower.
Also I want to know if the application can request some folders that contain videos to download on the sd card ? and how to do that ?

I have a 100 meg zip file that I need to download when the app first starts. It needs to unzip to the SD card (400 meg).
I'd rather not have to have it touch the phone's storage as many phones won't have 400 meg free on the phone's storage.
Can this be done (any one have an example?)

I'm trying to download a large .zip file from a web server but I have a weird behaviour, the description is:
- I'm executing the code in the device emulator, API level 3 (version 1.5) with an SD card of 512MB. I start the device with "Wipe data user"
- The length of the size from conexion.getContentLength() is 7012725
- The server address is localhost (10.0.2.2), but I've tried with an external server and the behaviour is the same. I've double checked that I can download the file through a web browser.
- I have these permisions in the manifest file:

The error:
- It starts downloading the file, I can see the text 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and then it stops at 60. - After a while, the emulator reboots itself.
Workarounds:
- About the possible wifi lock, what I've done is add this permission "android.permission.WAKE_LOCK" and then this piece of code, but with exactly the same behaviour:

When I was looking at Android phones (I bought a Motorola Droid), the guy at Sprint told me that there was an app on the Hero that would allow you to search for a place and then show you the building and through the walls of the building. I was able to exchange the phone and I've reloaded my apps and gotten my contacts all back in play. Now I've tried to download my music onto my SD card and it's telling me the SD card is unavailable. I've tryed to download from a different browser (Dolphin).
I've tried to set the destination directory to the internal folder.(btw the default android browser doesnt have this option, only on dolphin browser)

I am trying to update an application from android market. Every time I try to update.. Android Market app downloads the apk and then say something like "Application can't be installed because of some application signing issue".
Where are the apk's downloaded before isntalled? Can I copy the apk before i get the error message?

View 2 Replies View RelatedCant download anything bigger than 4gb to external sd card. I have a T769 Blaze and have a 32gb external sd card installed, a sandisk hicap. I installed it factory and no luck. Read some forums and formated it to exfat, then ntsf, both read fine and can store up to 4gb but no more, tried all the various apps to get it to store when downloading but always get size limit error. How can I get my OS to allow bigger than 4gb to download to my 32gb sd card. Note: I have no issues when trying to move files from PC to phone, just downloading them from the Internet either by download site or torrent. Got some movies and software I need to get. OS is ics 4.0.4 rooted stock. I am a good pc geek but limited on android/linux skills.
