Will Google or HTC make 2.2 available on the G1 dev phone? Is there a one stop shop for monitoring what is available or approximately when new OSs will be available?

I am thinking about converting my web apps into Android apps to reach the Android market. I do not have an Android phone. Can someone tell me how I can possibly get a Google developer phone (other than going to Google I/O, etc)?
I realize this is somewhat of a ridiculous request but I have read blogs of people being enticed by google and offered a free phone to convert their web apps into Android apps. So I figure there is no harm in asking.
I am also wondering what the cost of the developer phone is once you pay your $25 to enter the android market place as a developer through the developer account.
After updating to 2.1 on my X10, I noticed that I cannot use Google Voice to make phone calls (either selecting "use Google Voice for all calls" or "use Google Voice for international phones). It seems that the issue has to do with the SE dialer. Is there a way to go to the stock generic Android dialer? If not, any other suggestions?

View 13 Replies View RelatedI have Google voice with my own cell #, not a GV #. But when I go to make a call with with the regular keypad or via GV there is no option to place the call with GV. When I go to GV settings the only options it has are never use GV, ask every time I place an international call, or use GV for international calls only. Never a mention of using GV for domestic calls. Anyone know why? Currently using Droid with 2.0.1.

Now near location is okay for something free, but its usually that last wee bit that you need more than anything, instead of you coming to an estate and it tells you its on the left hand side, which is the whole estate. The problem I'm encountering is that I have thousands of Google contacts from anyone who has ever sent me an email and I don't want them in my phone contacts. Same thing goes for facebook. I only want the phone to pull Facebook data for those contact already downloaded from Google.

There is no way to place calls within the app, and when I use the phone app nothing happens. I have no idea what to do. Figured out you can only do that using your contacts. Seems pretty limited, even the generic iphone app could dial direct. Oh well, maybe they will update in the future.

I'm using a HTC One X, so 16gb is a bit limiting and I can't have it full of music.
Anytime I click to add a new event it always defaults to "My Calendar"(phone built in one) as the Calendar it is going to add it too.I have checked my settings and I only have my google calendar checked so it shows all of those events.The "My Calendar" is unchecked too. But it always wants to add it to that one, not google. Any ideas how to change this? Or if not, is there another calendar app you could recommend I use instead of the stock then?This is really annoying that every event I have to change and select Google.I use google calendar for everything, and if I forget once it could cause a lot of problems. Plus, I don't want to think about having to change it manually EVERY EVENT!
