When I get an email notification, it always links me to the HTC Gmail app. I would rather it send me to the Google branded Gmail app instead. Is there a way to make the Google branded Gmail app default for notifications?

I want to be able to still receive notifications popups, but I don't want sound to play on them. I know I can turn off sounds on all notifications but I only want to on Gmail.

My issue is that I have other people who access the accounts as well (from desktop computers), and I need to be notified when they send emails. So what I can't find is how to get notifications of sent mails from my own accounts.I had this on my blackberry curve, where I would be notified of that.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAnytime I click to add a new event it always defaults to "My Calendar"(phone built in one) as the Calendar it is going to add it too.I have checked my settings and I only have my google calendar checked so it shows all of those events.The "My Calendar" is unchecked too. But it always wants to add it to that one, not google. Any ideas how to change this? Or if not, is there another calendar app you could recommend I use instead of the stock then?This is really annoying that every event I have to change and select Google.I use google calendar for everything, and if I forget once it could cause a lot of problems. Plus, I don't want to think about having to change it manually EVERY EVENT!
View 3 Replies View Relatedplease forgive my stupid question but i'm new to android after coming over from the horror of windows mobile i just got an unlocked hero off ebay with orange branded firmware (only noticable on startup splash screen) (build number 2.73.61.66 / i can only find mention of it in an italian forum!)am i right in thinking that when the new 2.1 update comes out, i can get it off the htc site and install it on the phone regardless of the orange branding, or do i have to wait for the orange update (i assume this only applies to orange customers?) in which case i'll be going down the rooting/custom rom route.i've been lurking here for the past 2 weeks and learnt so much, great forum, and i have to say i am absolutely smitten with the hero, it's astonishing

Both Facebook and Gmail apps have notifications checked off to show when new messages are received but they never put a notification in my notification panel of my phone or sound a tone or vibrate even tho they are set to. Anyone else have this problem and is there a way to fix it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to set gmail invites to be private by default? Google help says that if your calendar is set to private (mine is) then all invites will be private too. That is not the case though - when my husband receives an invite in Outlook and he has to manually change it to private. So short of using my pc for all invites (where I can manually set them to private each time) is there a way to do this on the Dinc?
View 1 Replies View Relatedjust got the phone a week ago.i'm using Google Calendar exclusively for all my date keeping. it's great to see that the default calendar apps sync with google calendar (GC)now, in GC (the web version) i set up the default reminders for new appointments to be a) email and b) sms.i noticed that, in order to get notifications on my PHONE as well, i need to add c) pop up to it. tested and that seems to work fine. will that pop up show anywhere else as well though? i never used that notification option before.and i noticed the following two annoying things:
1) default appointment notifications not set when appointment made using phone calendar application
when i make a new appointment from my PHONE, it shows up on the web version after a sync, that's all very cool. BUT then the appointment does not get assigned the default notification options (email and SMS), it only has pop up. any way to work around that? can't seem to find options for that.
2) when appointment made via application, web version of the appointment shows me as a GUEST who has confirmed that's a bit rubbish?! i.e. the experience is totally different from the appointments i set using the web version of GC.
I am currently using Google Voice for my Visual Voicemail. When someone leaves a voicemail, I get about 5 notification sounds in a row! It's so annoying. I bascially get a couple of email notifications, a message notification, etc. Is there a way where it only makes one notification sound and just shows that you have a new voicemail? I don't need a bunch of things going off at once.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have my original gmail account "slaved" to my google apps account, so when I log in to user@gmail.com it displays my google apps user@domain.com as being logged in. For most things this is great, but now with the android phone there are some gotchya's First was the Market. I had to create yet another gmail account to buy anything off the market, because when I sign in to my 'gmail' account on my phone it signs me in as an apps user.
Second, is my google voice (attached to gmail) has its own set of contacts associated with my gmail account, and they are not synced with my google apps account. I was hoping the phone would sort of mesh them together, however I'm not seeing that. On my iPhone I was using soocial, however they recently stopped allowing unlimited contacts and their new free limit is below my number of contacts. Is there a way for the phone to keep these to contact lists "connected" and synced together?
I want to override the default android messaging application.
If I receive a sms or mms I want to send that to email but i don't want any notification on phone.
So basically I want to replace the default messaging application.
How can I make my application the default one that receive the sms?
Some have complained about not being able to change the LED or get repeat notifications for gmail. I stumbled on this last night and thought I would share. When you go under Settings>Sync...> it has the four Gmail accounts, with only one giving you the option to sync calendar. I want to sync the calendar of one of the others, not that one, and I can't figure out how to switch it. Also, the account is showing up as my Google log in for Maps. I've found an option to make the Gmail portion your default but no overall Google default.

All of a sudden, when I do the same thing, it opens up the G mail In box and I have to click the email itself to open it. Am I delusional and this is how it's always been?

The problem I'm encountering is that I have thousands of Google contacts from anyone who has ever sent me an email and I don't want them in my phone contacts. Same thing goes for facebook. I only want the phone to pull Facebook data for those contact already downloaded from Google.

Does the phone itself have fields for first and last name and if so does it make more sense to reorganize my Gmail contacts so the phone can recognize what is the first name and what is the last name?

I have people that have gmail accounts on my phone. The problem is that some of them automatically links to that gmail account and others don't. For instance contact #1 has a gmail account I can see the picture that they update on their gmail account and statuses but contact #2 doesn't show anything from there gmail account. Is there a way to get this contacts to all link to there gmail, if they have a gmail account?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with Google Voice. When I get an incoming text, I don't get any notification for it. I have inbox notifications checked, but it doesn't happen until I manually open the GV inbox, or sometimes not until I open the inbox and the specific conversation the message was a part of. This is true, even 8 hours later. So if I don't check my GV inbox/conversations for 8 hours, the phone gives me no notification of a message. I know this is not normal because a month ago I was having no problem with this. Could it be that I started using ADW Launcher a couple weeks ago? I haven't heard of any issues with this caused by ADW before Another thing I've experienced weird is the Gmail app. This morning I received 2 e-mails at about 7 and 8 a.m., though again I got no notification in the status bar and I had no idea I'd received the e-mails until I manually checked the Gmail app, even though notifications are enabled. This hasn't been a problem until a couple days ago. Thirdly, sometimes a friend will text my GV number and it will send to make phone's message inbox, not to GV. This only happens with one contact, and even then not all the time. My friend says he sends all of the texts to the same number, but I suspect he has my old number still in his phonebook and sometimes he just selects the wrong number, so I don't suspect it to be related, but this issue started happening at the same time as the other notification issues, so I thought I should include it.I would be very grateful for any help/advice you guys could provide!
