Yes for those who are running CyanogenMOD 5.0.5.7 ONLY right now. Just type JIT in the market and it'll pop up. I've been running it with the heat turned down and so far it's behaving. I'm sure it'll explode tomorrow. All these apps have made my adb skills waste away. The best thing about it is you can turn it off without having to pull and editing the build file yourself which is sort of a pita Jit App In Market - CyanogenMod Forum Not supporting Jit by any means just forwarding the news.

I've been reading how to get more memory thread where is suggested to run clearapps.sh script in order to remove unnecesarry applications on a great Galaxo ROM. I was wondering, is it possible that MarketEnabler depends on some of those apps, because after running the script, it fails to either restore settings from backup or set different provider. There is no force-close or freeze. It just pops up "working" box for indefinite time period without progres bar filling (I waited several minutes). The infobox can be easily discarded with the back button.

I am developing a set of apps that are distinguished only in certain brandings (think different sports teams); however, I am running into a problem where I am using one Library project for all of the specifically branded apps and want to use the same ContentProvider for all of them. When I created the ContentProvider I declared the AUTHORITY as a constant in the class (per the dev example code) and I am using the same authority in every specific app in the manifest files. It looks like I can't use the same authority across every app as I get this error when trying to install a second app (I install one branded one just fine but the second install):
WARN/PackageManager(66): Can't install because provider name com.xxx.Provider (in package com.xxx) is already used by com.zzz
I've tried several approaches but none of them seem to work. One idea that I haven't done yet, was to create a library jar and just omit the Provider class I have and customize it in each specific app. Any ideas on how to get around this problem without resorting to that?

I have an app that was installed via Android Market. And so, the Android Market knows when new versions are out and notifies me of an update. Titanium Backup calls this the 'Market Link', not sure what else it could be called.
how would I go about 'disconnecting' the app from the Market? Deleting the market link as if it were side-loaded?
Yes, I know this means no more updates for the app etc. Which is actually what I'm after.
I'm using a SGS - DocRom V9.6 with Speedmod Kernel k13a

I know my question answers but since there's a lot of you who really spend your time scrutinizing your rank, downloads and all, I'm trying it maybe someone came up with empiric science on this one :
Does anyone understood even bits of how the market ranks apps in the market ?
I usually don't look at stats but following another post on this topic, I counted my rank in my category ... 565 ... Ouch that hurts! Especially when half the apps in front of mine, are crap apps with less downloads and ratings as low as 1 star :).
Not that it would make a difference being rank 250 instead of 565...But this is humiliating a little :s
Since my app has been on the market for one month, i'm wondering if age matters ...
I know I should have asked in the market "black hole of hell " google group but the name says it all. And I'm sure some of you already figured out some of the black magic used by the Market to rank apps.

I am having a hard time understanding content providers. In the notepad example and others, the content provider never even declares its CONTENT_URI anywhere inside itself, yet the docs say to publicly declare this. It's declared in a different class. So when an activity queries a content provider with a CONTENT_URI, how does Android know which one I want. I see no link between a content provider and its CONTENT_URI declared in another class.
I also don't how to think about intents and content providers. I know that you don't call an intent on a content provider. But an activity queries a content provider without an intent, and an activity has a mimetype attribute in the manifest that would seem to tie it to a content provider.

This issue has been sorta "asked and answered" but the information I have found information has been on phones OTHER than the EVO. I just wanted to CONFIRM everything for the EVO (which I just rooted last night and NEW to the root modifications and options) before I got into any trouble! I have the stock 8GB card and want to update to a larger card. I rooted my phone last night and the only "rooty" things I have done has been: (1) full clockworkmod backup to the SD card; (2) Titanium backup; and (3) moving some apps to the SD via Move2SD Enabler.
From what I've read I can just copy the contents of my original card to the new card and put the card in the phone. I was wondering if this IS the case with the EVO? Since I am rooted with various backups saved to the SD card, are their any concerns with those files going forward? And do I have any concerns with the apps that I have moved to the SD card...will they continue to function with copy-paste to the new card inserted into teh phone?? And lastly...also probably asked and answered a thousand times but I didn't check ...can anyone recommend a class/speed/brand of SD card, most likely a 16GB card but perhaps a 32GB?? I saw the following card recommended in another thread...any good? Amazon.com: SanDisk 16 GB Class 2 microSDHC Flash Memory Card SDSDQ-016G (Bulk Packaging): Electronics

I can't find certain apps in Market. I just tried to download Kindle-via Market and barcode, and it's 'not located'.
Tried to download EEBA as well, both ways, and no dice. I had to have the dev send me the APK to load EEBA.
WTH is up with this? Is it a version flub? Or just a wonky phone?

Just wondering if it is possible to get icons for applications on the Android Market? For example, if there is an application called "com.mycompany.someapp", is there a way to programmatically grab an image (icon) for that application either through an Android API or by simply downloading it from someplace on the net? I know it is possible to get the icon for an installed app using the PackageManager API; however, I don't believe that works for apps that are not installed. Failing that, since PackageManager can get a list of icons for installed applications, it should be possible to compile a fairly comprehensive list by creating an app that queries the PackageManger and uploads all the installed app icons to a webserver. That's not as nice as a true API, but it seems like it would work reasonably well. Can anyone think of anything particularly wrong with that approach?

What are the best apps you have come across that just arent on the android market. I Music is great and clearly a well known, safe app. So i'm looking for things along the same lines. Safe, trusted apps that just arent in plain sight on the market. Of course it doesnt have to be music or media related.

I have a new Droid Eris and have been having a really hard time finding apps that I read about in different places. I often find myself reviewing a very popular, top-rated app, then not being able to find it no matter how I search in the Market. These aren't usually obscure, ancient, one-off apps. I usually am hearing about them in 'top Android apps' articles, etc.
I usually search by the exact name, then alternate spellings. And I recently got the Barcode Scanner and am scanning the QR codes over at AndroLib.com to see if it's any easier. But I haven't gotten ANY of those to come up.
- What gives with the Android Market? Could I have something setup improperly?
I live in Los Angeles, so I doubt it's a location issue.
Some sample apps I couldn't find just tonight:
- Camera ZOOM FX
- Voice Trans
- Voice Text
