Motorola Milestone :: Copy Protected Apps Not Showing Up In Market
Sep 7, 2010I've been trying to download the "Desktop Visualizer" (a free app) but it wasn't showing up in the market, and no matter how I tried (QR codes, direct links, appbrain), I couldn't get it to download. Turns out it's copy protected, which seems to be the problem. I'm running 2.1 on my milestone (rooted) but I've googled a bit, and other rooted people don't seem to have this problem. Does anyone know what's causing it, and, if known, how to fix it?

Nov 4, 2010I just noticed while upgrading from the "pulled" 2.2 to the "official" 2.2 some of my purchased apps are no longer available from the market. Cannot be found at all. Someone said that Google has to approve every new ROM to get complete access to the market. I was just wondering if it is I who have the glitch or if anyone else has the same problems. I have heard from two other sources (in Sweden) who have the same issues.

Jun 13, 2010People are having problems finding my app (Advanced Map Live Wallpaper) in the Android Market.It's free, not copy-protected, and the only requirement is SDK level 7 or above. However, it's invisible on some Nexus 2.1 devices, a lot of Droids (2.1), and a smattering of other phones.The fact it disappears seems to be completely random, and it's driving me nuts because I don't know if it's a misconfiguration by me somewhere or a Market problem.I know there's been an issue for copy protected apps, but I can't see how this applies to me.

* It's free * It's not localised ("Localized to: unknown")
HTC Legend :: Hidden / Protected Applications In Market Place
May 1, 2010I know that google market blocks protected apps from non-authorized devices like the legend and I've done lots of searching in this forum and other sites but could someone please reiterate: any timeframe for this to be sorted? Or what's the best workaround? Is there a site we can download apks for (example) layer and install that way? Or is it easier/quicker to mod the phone so it works in marketplace?

Aug 26, 2010I just had a potential customer tell me they couldn't find my app in the market. So I did some research and it turns out it's because I have copy protection turned on. Seems like a bad idea to turn it off, but I don't want to miss potential customers either. What do you all do in this situation?

Mar 4, 2010Figured I'd start a new topic. After upgrading to 2.1 I noticed some paid apps that I purchased were not showing up. Someone mentioned that protected apps will not appear until the eris is registered with the 2.1 android market. Just a heads up if you decide to upgrade early.

Apr 2, 2010I upgraded from a Hero to the Desire yesterday. It's all great apart from a few niggles, but one big one in particular. I've lost half of my paid for apps I signed it to my Google account upon setting up the phone as normal. Everything seemed to work: Contacts and Calendar synchronized just fine, not so the Apps. The market seemed to recognize half of my paid apps, allowing me to download them for free again, but not the other half. I even did an App resore from my Hero using 'My backup' all to no avail. I'm still missing paid apps. They aren't even showing up in the Market any more, and if I download the free version and then try to upgrade it says there's no such App. Current paid for Apps that I'm missing and can't get back are:

I never had this problem on my rooted N1, however once I rooted Evo - it cannot see apps like NYTimes, bTunes, and basically any other app that's copy protected. I have read on XDA-forums that this has something to do with Market being affiliated with 'build.prop', but unclear as to what the fix for this will be, if any Right now, I am thinking of going back to stock because of this..

Apr 7, 2011I have an app that was installed via Android Market. And so, the Android Market knows when new versions are out and notifies me of an update. Titanium Backup calls this the 'Market Link', not sure what else it could be called.
how would I go about 'disconnecting' the app from the Market? Deleting the market link as if it were side-loaded?
Yes, I know this means no more updates for the app etc. Which is actually what I'm after.

Oct 6, 2010I know my question answers but since there's a lot of you who really spend your time scrutinizing your rank, downloads and all, I'm trying it maybe someone came up with empiric science on this one :
Does anyone understood even bits of how the market ranks apps in the market ?
I usually don't look at stats but following another post on this topic, I counted my rank in my category ... 565 ... Ouch that hurts! Especially when half the apps in front of mine, are crap apps with less downloads and ratings as low as 1 star :).
Not that it would make a difference being rank 250 instead of 565...But this is humiliating a little :s
Since my app has been on the market for one month, i'm wondering if age matters ...
I know I should have asked in the market "black hole of hell " google group but the name says it all. And I'm sure some of you already figured out some of the black magic used by the Market to rank apps.

I was using eWallet by illium software with my Windows Mobile Smartphone and would like something like that. Jun 17, 2010I have an HTC Incredible and I noticed what appears to be protected blocks on one of the home screens. The home screen has only a couple of programs on it that take up 1 block. When I tried to move the location of one of the programs, I noticed there is a 1x2 vertical strip that is blank that is just to the top right of center that won't allow me to place anything. There is no reason why I shouldn't since there is plenty of room on the screen. Could there possibly be something hidden there? All i see is the background and touching that region does nothing.
