I only have one widget the htc one that originally came with the phone it has a huge clock and a weather update if u don't know what widget this is. But that's it I know the Internet, upstream etc drain battery life but when I'm not doing these things the battery feels short my screen timeout is for 1 minute. I just feel my battery life Drains to fast and I don't know why.

I feel I have exhausted all resources, and as my subject states, I'm drained out as my battery on my EVO. You win HTC, I'm throwing in the towel, and accepting the fact that the battery life on this thing sux @$$. I'm done trying all the tricks that are out there. I'll have to live with the 1%/minute battery drain while surfing the web, and doing other normal activities on the phone. 100 mins of web browsing on the EVO and the battery is done! ....unreal.

View 23 Replies View RelatedI get pretty bad battery life. I wiped everything and reflashed the ROM and only installed about 10 apps instead of my usual 150 or so. Total difference in battery life! Except I want want my apps back, at least most of them.
I'm wondering if there's a way of finding out which ones take the most juice or are always running when I don't want them to do I can get rid of those few.
Do the adds in free apps drain your battery? How do they work. Are they always connected to online? Well, i dont have any problems with the apps on my phone because they dont even show up. Does that drain my battery even more? I have a rooted phone and in all my apps that have ads only show some white circle showing that something is loading but no ads show. My battery only lasts 8-12 hours of use. And it sucks.

How will my battery hold up with the GPS on the whole time? Assuming these apps have the GPS constantly draining the battery, which I imagine they do.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been playing around with two applications that have widgets to show estimated battery life left.At one point, they seemed to show times that were pretty close but after updating to 2.1 they were off a bit. I am guessing 2.1 might have changed (hopefully improved) battery life and that caused calibration issues.I am just looking for any feedback from the community about which of these two apps they prefer, or if there are others I should look into. Of course, two of my main concerns are
1) I don't want an app that drains the battery
2) accuracy is important.
I've had my htc incredible for a few days and I absolutely love it. However, I am less than pleased with the battery life. I run a good amount of apps and widgets and am sure this is causing the life to drain. I downloaded ATK in order to close apps when not in use, but I've noticed a strange occurrence. It seems that w/i 10 minutes of closing unneeded apps a bunch of programs that I have not been using open up. Is there any explanation for this? Also, is there a way to immediately close an app when I'm done using it rather than having to find the ATK widget?

View 15 Replies View RelatedI'm a very happy KaosFroyo 37 user, but I have some misc questions.(sorry, this item is a sort of double-post) Do any of these lockscreen widgets work with Froyo? When I was running Android 1.5 and 2.1, I would keep my screen pattern-locked most of the time, since it lives in my pants' pocket and I want to avoid it activating accidentally. Then when I get into the car and place my phone in a cup holder, I would unlock the phone once and click a widget which would leave it unlocked (for easy access to GPS, etc.) for the duration of my ride, when I would lock the phone again and put it back in my pocket.Now with Android 2.2 I can't do this with the lock pattern, because apparently the security mechanisms don't permit it; one must re-enter the lock pattern several times, which is very time-consuming. Is there another approach for 2.2 users? I don't need very strong security, just want to avoid accidental phone calls and other accidental activations.
While (Android's) Manage Applications worked for me initially, now it only works the first time after a reboot. I.e., I can run it once, but on any subsequent attempts it will hang while attempting to populate its app list. As workaround I purchased Quick App Clean Cache, which is nice in its own right, but it would still be nicer not to have this problem. Also I'm not 100% convinced that Quick App Clean Cache is always giving me the complete set of options for an app, e.g. to move it to an SD card. Have others encountered this problem? I could probably generate a logcat for debugging purposes.
Most apps will let you move them to the SD card in KaosFroyo 37, even though I haven't checked the CyanogenMod option to permit these.I guess that there are a few more apps which might copy more completely to the SD card if I used this option.Can anyone shed any light on this option and whether it's saves any memory, and whether it induces any instability?I'm always careful not to copy widgets to the SD card.Battery life is a continued mystery; clearly much worse than before I rooted. Apparently the CPU tweaker isn't recommended (I guess it uses too much battery life trying to figure out whether it needs to adjust the CPU speed), and the battery life tweaker on the XDA forum described doesn't provide a very clear strategy. What do folks recommend? [ Correction: I had read a pretty incoherent writeup somewhere on XDA, but now see Collin_ph Battery Tweak RC1 for Cyanogen / Darch Froyo roms (possibly others) - xda-developers which is well-written. I will try this approach, but welcome your experiences.
Just got my D2 yesterday after spending way too long with the Eris... so far I'm loving it, but I have one question: do everyone's phones seem to randomly open 10-20 apps in background at all times? These aren't even apps I use, like a Sudoku game I haven't tried once yet. I'm not too worried about it, since performance seems to be fine, but I'm wondering if this will affect battery life.

Nothing fancy, no estimation of remaining battery life nor fancy eye candy. If it can show a more precise reading than the Milestone built-in one, which only decreases in 10% intervals, fine, but only if this isn't a drain on the battery. I know there are several such apps, but which do you think is the best for my needs? There are so many it's hard to try them all and choose. I just want something basic and simple which doesn't drain the battery. I tried "battery indicator" and "battery status pro"; they both do what I need, but I'm afraid they might be an additional drain on the battery.
View 18 Replies View RelatedMany of us have experienced some battery life fall out since the last update. I mentioned this in the battery life thread but I thought it deserved it own topic. I have an app that I downloaded called battery status. it has a battery history. and it says time without sleeping 7h 10m 25s ago. Thats exactally when I unplugged my phone. This explains why I am seeing 2-3% per hour loss while not using the phone and while in airplane mode. Before the update I could keep the phone in airplane mode, not usre it, and leave work with over 94% battery life. So this proves that somehow the phone is not going into sleep mode... I can guarantee that everyone else in that is experiencing battery drain since the sept 16th update is due to this reason. The question is... why the hell is this happening and why won't the phone go into sleep mode?

View 2 Replies View RelatedRooted Droid 1, running LFY 1.9 with it's 1ghz kernel, SPRecovery. Had a weird issue recently; the phone displayed that my battery life was at 40%, then probably ~30 minutes later it was down to 20%. I wasn't using it during that time, I just unlocked the screen to check something. Anyway, I opened my browser and within a minute or two I got the "15% battery life remaining" message, prompting me to connect my charger. I decided I would allow the phone to just die and shut itself down. So I waited ~45 minutes and it went down to 10%, then almost immediately to 5%. I turned on the GPS just to make it drain faster... I watched a one-hour television show and when it was over, I glanced over to the phone to see if it had died - nope, still on. I turned the LED light on, leaving the GPS running for ~25 minutes and it finally powered down. Then I plugged it in to charge and left the room. Came back in about 2.5 hours later and picked up the phone - it was very hot. Unlocked the screen and checked SetCPU and it was running ~135?F but it immediately started cooling down. It was fully charged, however so I unplugged it. I went to bed shortly thereafter and the battery life displayed 90% as I set the alarm to wake me up the next morning. I happened to wake up shortly before the alarm was set to go off and I picked up the phone to disable the alarm and noticed the red 'charge me' light blinking - unlocked the screen to see 5% and just then it powered itself down.
TL;DR -- Phone only got hot that one time, phone hasn't gone dead in stand-by mode again like it did that night. Battery drains at a seemingly normal rate based on my regular use from 100% down to 40%, then it rapidly drains after that, always skipping 30% and when it gets down to 5% it stays alive for quite a long time under heavy load. Is there a way to 'teach' the phone how to check and calculate actual and remaining battery % and to display it correctly? Is it kernel-related? I heard somewhere about doing a 'battery wipe' but I am unsure what that entails and searches are proving fruitless for me so far.
I've read conflicting reports on what eBuddy does to your battery. Some people say it has very minimal battery drain, and others say it's a battery hog.?

My Nexus 5 crapped out on me today. I was using it when it suddenly restarted and began an infinite loop of load screen, saying its updating, than stating "Unfortunatly the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped."
I attempted a wipe/system reset several times but it shows the same "failed to mount" error each time.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just purchased an HTC Desire Z a few days ago and one of the first apps that I have downloaded is MSNTalk since I do a lot of messaging on MSN Messenger. I leave this app on all the time and I feel that it drains my battery considerably.
I've gone through the basic "conserve your battery" steps that many people have mentioned (i.e. no wi-fi, low backlight, increase email sync time, download only headers, kill running apps that are doing nothing, etc, etc.). However, my battery does not last more than 22-23 hours.
This 22-23 hours is with extreme minimal usage since I wanted to test the idle life on the phone. 22-23 hours of battery life without much use is quite bad imo, especially with the steps taken above to try and conserve more battery. The only thing I haven't tried yet is completely turning off MSNTalk and then testing how long the battery lasts. As we speak, my phone is charging and when it is at full battery life I will see if MSNTalk was indeed the culprit here.
Also, with MSNTalk on during the 22-23 hours the amount of data usage was around 8-9 MB/day. I think this is fairly high as well. This means the 3G was being used constantly.
I'd just like to know if anyone else has used MSNTalk and found the same issues with the battery life.
If it is indeed MSNTalk, does anyone have any suggestions on a good MSN IM app that is very good on the battery (i.e. BeeJive, EBuddy, etc)? For example, my friend uses BeeJive on his iPhone and it doesn't have the same battery issues as I do (he can easily go over a day).
