HTC EVO 4G :: Fring Not Logging In To Skype / Way To Do

Jun 13, 2010

I keep trying to setup Skype in Fring, and it has a spinning circle above the SKP logo for about 5 minutes until it says that it cannot log into Skype. I tried searching the forums and couldn't find anything. I know some are having the same issues and reporting them on the Fring site, but I was wondering if anyone here had any ideas.

HTC EVO 4G :: Video Calling - Fring Over Skype - On 3G

Jun 4, 2010

All I get is "call terminated" when I pick up and the connection is established. Tried initiating the video call from both ends (PC and EVO) with the same result. anyone?

have not tried on 4G yet since it;s dead at home (have it at the office and couple of streets down from my house - maybe I'll take a walk tonight?)

UPDATE:
-when initiating the call from the PC it rings on the phone and I only get "call terminated" when I pick it up on the EVO
- when initiating the call from the EVO it rings once and it hangs up (does not ring on the PC and I cannot answer it)

doing a restart of the EVO right now

UPDATE 2:

alright, a power off and on of the EVO did it.

Android :: Can Fring Really Do Real Voip Skype Calls?

Dec 18, 2009

So I'm a little confused about Skype on Android. As I understand it, it's not really running Skype at all, it's just a fancy way to call their local Skype number, which you can actually do on any cell phone, right? So you still use minutes. If you make long-distance calls, you'll also use credits. If you make local-calls, I assume you don't? And do you use credit if you make Skype-to-Skype calls? What if someone Skypes you -- do you still use credit? Second, can Fring really do real voip Skype calls? Just using my wifi and no minutes? Can I see all my Skype contacts? Can they see me?

Samsung Galaxy S : Battery Life For VOIP Skype - Fring - Nimbuzz?

Aug 2, 2010

I am getting a Galaxy S end of this week or early next week. Wondering how good it will be for VOIP. I am thinking of using either Skype, Fring or Nimbuzz in the background 24x7, connected mostly over 3G but sometimes (at home and at work) over Wi-Fi. If Wi-Fi is going to drain the battery faster, then I can have it on 3G all the time. I'm more than happy if I can get one day out of it. What do you guys think? Has anyone tried it?

Android :: App To Talk With Contects Skype-to-skype On Droid Phone?

Aug 19, 2009

Here is what I would like to do:

I have an HTC Magic and I have a couple of contacts who I frequently talk with on skype. Is there anyway to talk with them skype-to-skype on the Android phone?

The Skype Lite app does not allow calling.

I don't mind either calling using my local minutes OR using my data plan.

Are there any other applications that could assist me with this?

KitKat 4.4 :: App That Really Blocks SMS Text?

May 23, 2014

Is there an app that really blocks SMS text from blacklisted numbers? Avast is working on their software, since Google broke text blocking with KitKat. But any already released software that really works with KitKat? (I used the Nexus 5 SMS app on my Nexus 7 in order to restore SMS, but along with good text is a lot of spam. Go SMS Pro does not work for me, it will only save drafts, not send or block.)

HTC Hero :: Blocks Synch With Googleaccount

Jul 30, 2009

Hero On Orange not letting me sign in to google account

But normally everything should work on my simcard....

Now the other part...Im from Belgium. The htc hero is not launched yet in Belgium because they need to remove the youtube app.

So I went to netherland and bought a htc hero! Hehe...but then I tried to connect to the market...so I tried to connect to my gmail account and I got the same error as the guy above...From the simcard/service etc...

Now I called my provider..he sais my simcard is quite new...so normally their shouldn't be any problem. I don't got data activated yet...but I'm connected true wifi...so that shouldn't be the problem? To be sure I activated the service right now..and waiting to get activated...

Could It be that my htc is blocked because I'm using one from the netherlands in Belgium?because of the situation with the belgium htc's?

Android :: Sleeping In OnTouchEvent Blocks OnSensorChanged

Nov 13, 2010

I'm making an application which will utilize both touchevents and sensorevents. The problem with touchevents is that they fire off very often, and thereby consumes massive amounts of CPU time. The common solution is to do a Thread.sleep to make it cool down. However, if one wants to use both the onTouchEvent and onSensorChanged in the same activity, applying the Thread.sleep hack will also slow down onSensorChanged. This is obviously caused by the two methods being called from the same (ui) thread. Is there some way to call onTouchEvent from a different thread than the ui, so one could do the Thread.sleep trick without slowing down onSensorChanged as well?

HTC EVO 4G :: Blocks Access Exchange Server - Not Available For Android

May 23, 2010

I'll be new to Android starting on June 4th and I'll be retiring my Blackberry Tour. There are a few apps on my Blackberry that I really like and use daily. So I have a few questions for the Android gurus out there.

1. Exchange Email- I work for a Computer Company that blocks access to their Exchange Server and although I've requested access repeatedly, they deny me every time. Is there a work around for Android similar to the Blackberry Desktop Redirector?
2. Sirius/XM- I know it's not available yet for Android but I was wondering if anyone has an update on the future availability of this App for the Evo.
3. Password Keeper- I would not be able to survive without this App on my Blackberry. Is there something as good or better available on the Android Market?
4. Can anyone recommend a good Chess Application for the Evo?

Android :: DatagramSocket.receive - Sometimes Blocks For Too Long

I have a thread that constantly polls a UDP connection and posts the received data to another thread. It uses a connected DatagramSocket, reads a packet (which is always the same side), gets the data and posts it to a message queue (not the android one, my implementation). The problem happens mainly over 3G connection, not wifi.

Code looks like:

Android :: Protected Blocks On Home Screens

Jun 17, 2010

I have an HTC Incredible and I noticed what appears to be protected blocks on one of the home screens. The home screen has only a couple of programs on it that take up 1 block. When I tried to move the location of one of the programs, I noticed there is a 1x2 vertical strip that is blank that is just to the top right of center that won't allow me to place anything. There is no reason why I shouldn't since there is plenty of room on the screen. Could there possibly be something hidden there? All i see is the background and touching that region does nothing.

General :: Nexus X - Can't Restore Bootloader Due To Bad Blocks

Jun 30, 2012

Yesterday I got a sort-of-refurbished Nexus S (I9023) which was apparently not in such a good shape...Had problems flashing the system and userdata partitions (kept saying they were flashed fine but after reboot went back to their previous state).

I followed some tip without actually reading up on it and ended up formatting my bootloader partition.

Now, what I get is just a black screen no response or anything but using a tool called UnBrickable Mod I can get it back to fastboot mode and then boot into a recovery image and have adb access.

All in all, I am currently stuck cuz I want to flash a new bootloader image but what i get when i do that is:

Code:
~ # nandwrite /dev/mtd/mtd0 /bootloader.img
Skipping bad block at 0x00000000
Skipping bad block at 0x00040000
Skipping bad block at 0x00080000
Skipping bad block at 0x000c0000
Writing at 0x00100000
Writing at 0x00140000
Writing at 0x00180000
Writing at 0x001c0000
nandwrite: not enough space in MTD device

I have read that NAND blocks tend to go bad when continuously being flashed, but 50% bad blocks on the bootloader partition? Seems pretty unlucky... Is it possible to resize the partitions without any JTAGing or writing custom bootloaders?

However, on the test call I have a choice of the video button, but when I try and call my daughter who is set up, I don't get a video button to hit like on the test call, just the phone call button?
