Android :: VNC App To Control My Computers

Sep 9, 2010

I use "Palm VNC" to control my computers via my Palm TX; this is most useful for one particular pc as I can use the Palm's touch screen to activate commands rather than the mouse on the pc. A quick point with a finger and the command fires rather than picking up the mouse, moving to the required spot on the screen then clicking. Even more useful when I am at the other end of the room and need to fire the command. I see that there are many VNC apps for Android/Desire. What is the forum's experience of the various VNC apps?

Computers and laptops won't exist, only smartphones. We will have desktop and laptop DOCKING stations that we can plug our phones into. Those stations will have no computing or storage or networking capabilities. They will only contain a keyboard, a mouse or touch pad, and a viewing monitor. They will simply receive input from the user and send it to the phone, and display or sound the output.Such docking stations will exist at home, school, work, airports and other public places.

Android :: Using Same Debug Keystore On Multiple Computers

Oct 13, 2010

I'm developing on multiple computers. If I deploy to my phone directly from Eclipse on one computer, I can't deploy from the other without uninstalling first. I'm assuming this is because there is a debug certificate being used to sign the app, and they're not the same across the two machines. Is it possible to copy one over to the other so that Eclipse is using the same one on both machines?

Samsung Galaxy S :: Compatibility With Computers MAC

Oct 27, 2010

I was unable to find much information regarding compatibility of the Samsung Galaxy with MAC computers. On behalf of the small number of MAC users in this forum, I made a call to Samsung tech support re: how to do the Frodo update with a MAC computer. I was told that the Galaxy phone is PC based and, at present, Samsung does not have a plan to port Kies to OS X. In order to install the Frodo update when it is available, if we don't have an application such as Parallels or Virtual PC, we will have to borrow a PC to do the job.

Samsung Moment :: Connects To Computers As A/C Power Instead Of USB

Apr 17, 2010

When I connect my phone to my computers (Win 7 or 2 XP machines) it always connects as A/C and not as USB. I downloaded the Samsung USB drivers and this worked on the Win 7 machine for a while but then started connected as A/C again. Un-installed and installed the drivers again but they do now work now. The Samsung drivers did not work on either of the XP machines. So, as of now I think it is the phone? I do have the Power Manager app installed and the phone still connects as A/C with it running or not.

General :: Sharing Computers VPN Connection To Lenovo S2110 Tablet Over Internet

Aug 1, 2012

I just ordered a Lenovo S2110 Android tablet with keyboard dock. The idea was to use this 20 hour machine on road trips to do work related activities. For my job, I need to connect via VPN to get access to my work's intranet. I can do that fine in Windows on my pc or my work laptop. I was hoping to do this via Android and the Cisco AnyConnect program. Unfortunately my company doesnt have the license for Cisco AnyConnect mobile so I cannot connect directly via android.

Is it at all possible to connect and share the connection via my home pc that is connected via VPN via the internet somehow? Meaning, can I have VPN running at home and if I am away, connect through the internet and get the VPN tunnel to my android so I can connect to the work websites through the Android browser? Or access my shared network drive?

Only other option I see is using Team Viewer of Splash Desktop to connect as a remote session, but that is not preferable .

Android :: Running Several Emulators With Different Phone Numbers

Apr 14, 2009

I'm working on a client-server Android application and trying to figure out how to identify different phones/users to the server unambiguously. My first attempt would be to use the phone number on the SIM card. Although now that I think about it, how common is it these days that your phone number changes when you e.g. change carrier? I guess it depends from country to country etc.Anyway, I've been trying to figure out, since I don't have actual Android phones, how to change the phone number of the emulator phone to simulate different users. Is it possible or should I just think about alternative ways of identification?

Android :: Way Of Running Phone Market On Emulator With 2.1?

Apr 22, 2010

I'm running the emulator using the dev phone system images of 1.6 to download paid apps from the market to use on my htc desire in sweden. Why? because the market for paid apps isn't available here. The apps in question aren't available on slideme etc either so this is my last resort. One problem arised: An app I downloaded works for 2.1 and desire, but when I download it from the market with the emulator with 1.6 I get an older "legacy" version of the app that isn't compatible with 2.1. Due to this I wonder if there is any hackie crackie crazy way of getting a 2.1 system image onto the emulator or in any other way fooling the android market app or whatever to download apps as if the emulator phone was 2.1?

Running Android Apps On Windows Phone?

Mar 21, 2012

I made a great app that runs great on android phones. It was obviously written in java.I am wondering now that I have the .apk file is there away to run it on a windows mobile phone.

My friend really likes it alot when he tried it on my android phone. He has however windows mobile phone.

Since it was written in java and runs on the dalvik VM I was wondering if there is a windows mobile phone app that allows you to run a .apk java based android phone app?

In theory all that would have to be done is allow windows mobile to load a dalvik VM to run the .apk file / .dex code.I don't have to reinvent the app for windows that would take alot more work

At that point I would probably be will to take a stab at getting a copy of the dalvik VM if it is not to tied down to the android os and writting on for windows phones to use http:/[url]....

ALso not only would it have to support the dalvik VM but also the android sdk functions...So more like an emulator of the whole android os... so I think maybe it would be even harder then just getting the dalvik VM running because you would have to also get the android os functions emulated as well ... i.e the android sdk... so more like a total android port instead of just a VM port.

Darn I don't think this is as easy unless of course you where just coding an app with a standard more universally excepted package like the J2ME then it would probably be a straight VM port but in that case J2ME is not really supported on the android any way....

So I think forget it for now until the phones are not so dependent on there sdk's / native code ,...etc. I don't blame java since it really is dalivk VM's fault and the fact that on an android the VM code is almost like native os code in that the functions are tied to the underlying machine code/sdk . As opposed to being more portable like a regular java VM.

Android :: Phone Storage Running Out After Multiple Installs

Sep 4, 2010

When testing my app on a device I go through several "installs", although it's really the Eclipse plugin doing this for me.After a while (not very long) the device starts complaining about insufficient storage. It seems that progressive "re-installs" eats away the phone storage even though the app being installed (presumably) is either removed by Eclipse first or at least overwritten.Interestingly if I use a task killer to kill everything on the phone (which I only use for dev purposes btw),the available storage indicator recovers and I can keep working. As I said, it's more annoying than anything as the workaround.well works, but I'm wondering if there is some sort of cache chewing up storage?More importantly, I'm a little concerned that the same may happen with updates from the Market? That is, the update effectively replacing the current version of the app but leaving an allocation of storage behind in its wake.
